I have a 3808 and use the manual eq over the audessey settings. I have everything set to true flat. That is the setting in which I most enjoy my RF 82s (and companion speakers)

It's a free media server that will allow transport of audio, video, and pics. The reason I use it and not WMP11 is that my Denon and TVersity supports FLAC and WMP11 doesn't. Any media server will work

If your AVR has an ethernet port, get a Linksys Wireless gaming adapter. Plug it into the ethernet port of the AVR and set it up to your wireless network. Works PERFECTLY! If your AVR doesn't, you are going to need something that can sit next to the avr, receive the music from the wireless network, plug directly into the avr as a Aux (or whatever). I recently purchased a Denon 3808 and have the wireless adapter hooked directly to it. I have my 500gig media drive across the room attached to my PC. I use a free program call TVersity as the server software. What's cool about this set up is I can beam flac audio files across the network to the AVR. Much better than MP3.

What is not impressing you??? what is lacking? You have to have some amp set up or speaker placement issues. I am not a fan of the Onkyo stuff but that brand should still make the speaker setup you have rock. Try this, set everything to small, sub to LFE, all crossovers to 80. How does that sound? With this set up, try moving the mains aorund a bit. I have almost the same setup (I have a 52 vs your 62). First off, I used the Audessy auto set up with mixed results. Then I went in and set up a manual eq with everything FLAT. Then I set everything up to the above I gave you. My Denon 3808 does not have a movie or music mode.....it has different DSPs. I only use Dolby where applicable. If I am listening to music, I am using either pure direct (all electronic processing, including lights, turned off) or 7 channel stereo. Both sound great. Pure direct takes out the center and rears and just uses the mains and subs. Man, the 82s really sing in this mode at high volume. I've had some setups where I wasn't happy with the output but...it was just that....set up or placement.

I have almost the same set up as you except I have a RC52. In pure direct or direct, I have gone to plus 7 on my 3808. Saturday night, just before the NCAA game, I had on HDnet with the GOO DOLLS at Red Rocks. Was showing the system off to my son and at +7, we were blown away at how clean and clear the sound was. We were sitting about 8ft from the speakers and it sucked us right in. It was not harsh at all. Very clean sound coming from that Denon through the Klipsch In 5ch stereo mode, I wouldn't go that high because of the rs 42. They only handle 75 watts. But, the 82's can take everything the 3808 can dish out. I have the Denon set up with Manual EQ, pretty much everything flat. One thing that made a BIG difference on the bass sound of the 82s is the placement. I have my fronts about 7ft apart and about a foot out from the walls. No sidewalls to deal with.

Come to find out, there was an issue with the sub cable. Oh well! Still happier with the ML Abyss but still love my RF 82's

Nope, the sound was distinctly different when using right side. I think I didn't have it pushed in all the way or something. Even the .1 LFE material sounds better. What's funny....I unplugged the unit and boxed it up and took it back to BB/Mag to return it and order a Martin Logan Abyss. The Abyss won't be in until the 31st, so, they let me take the RW10d home until it comes. That's when I tried the left side and it sounds like a new sub. The right side is a little tighter and needs a little more force in pushing it in. Seems that might have been the trouble. I've got to say, this RW10d is a rockin' little sub.

Just upgraded my speaker system and thinking about a new a/v receiver. Currently have a Yamaha 5560. It sounds good with the new speakers (Klipsch RF 82, RC 52, RS42, ) but...only has 75 watts. I'm looking for more power. I can get the Denon and the Pioneer Elite for a little less than $900.00. I can get the Yamaha for $400.00 These are floor samples but come with original mfg warranty plus 3 year ext warranty. While I know the Yammy is not in the same league feature wise, it is a big upgrade from my current unit and has SOME of the upgrades I'm looking for - more power (120w), audio set up, more crossover choices, a few more features. And, it's less that half of the Denon or Pioneer. I would pull the trigger on the Denon but...I've read where HDMI has a lot of problems on this unit as well as the network interface. Since the Denon and Pioneer are a few features away of what I really want from a featureset, I figured I could get the Yamaha and live with it a year or two and then get the Denon (or like) with the features I want at a reduced price . For some reason, I just have a weird feeling about Pioneer stuff. don't know why as I remember when their first Super Tuner car radios came out and loved their sound. The bells and whistles on the Denon and Pioneer still seem to be lacking for a truly "into the future system" (no WiFi, No HD radio, issues with HDMI, still use Faroudia video upscaling, no Dolby or DTS HD, crummy remotes, etc....) I currently don't need all the HDMI stuff but....a BR or HD dvd player is on the list for a shot term future purchase. I have an 05 model Sony Grand Wega that is not capable of 1080p....so that is not an issue. My TV does accept HDMI and has one input. I currently run a Pioneer VX 400 upscaling DVD. Is the 4306 really a bad unit from Denon????. The Pioneer looks pretty tempting but does not have the network interface, although I hear Denon has issues with theirs (non pppoe capable). I would appreciate comments and opinions! UPDATE>I guess I am not running pppoe after all for network so I guess I can cross that off the list.

Had the receiver set correctly. I've experimented back and forth with bass going to sub or both main and sub. Works best on BOTH. That was already set. The mains sound terrible when set as small. They are full range speakers. I think I found the issue. I called Klipsch tech support when I first got my speakers. I was asking about the best way to hook up the sub. I was told that I could plug into either slot on the plug on the back and that I didn't need a y-adaptor. Well, I had the sub cable in the right side plug. I changed it to the left and volla...much different sound. The bass was totally better. I was able to turn the bass volume (on the sub) down to about half way and still get good bass. I appreciate all the help here. Now I'm not sure what I'll do. I still think I want more bass and I can't get a RW12d until December (on backorder at BB). I may just bring that ML Abyss home and give it an audition.

THe sub placement is not the issue. It sounds good with movies and digital music (i.e. music that is encoded with dolby or DTS). I listed my set up in a post above this one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The other speakers on my system are sounding just fine.

I am using the same Pioneer DVD player for both DVD and CD. I have it set up correctly in it's audio output. I have it connected through optical cable to the receiver. I have a Yamaha 5560 receiver. I plan on upgrading it but the speakers were first on the list. The Yammy is set to L/R Large, and Sats and Center are small. I have bass set to both (trust me, it's much worse without it being set up this way). The 5560 has crossover set to 90hz when any speaker set is set to small. There is no other option I can find that allows adjusting the point of the crossover. The Sub is connected to the receiver through the LFE output and the cable is plugged into the left side of the two inputs on the sub. The cable is fine and is totally adequate. The receiver has a pre-amp output (L/R) which I am told could run straight to the sub with two RCA cables. If I connect this way, what happens to the LFE signal from digital material? Would that be lost or would I manually have to reconnect the LFE (single cable) everytime I wanted to play digital material??? (material using the .1 channel)???

But before doing so, I've got some questions... This unit plays pretty good with my RF-82s when signal is digital (Dolby, DTS, etc..). However, I am totally unimpressed with CD audio or other non-digital signal . I think this comes from the receiver only sending bass satellite speaker bass info on non-digital signals. There doesn't seem to be as much there as when in a .1 environment. I play a lot of CD's and it really bothers me as to how lacking the bass seems to be. If I listen to a music DVD in Dolby or DTS, or listen to one of the digital channels from my cable company, the music is totally different. I'm thinking about returning this unit and getting a Martin Logan Abyss. One of the things I like about this sub is you can plug in pre-amp RCA's (2) AND the LFE in at the same time. I am under the impression that there is more bass signal /info in running the pre-amp out from receiver into sub and then setting crossover on the sub to the bottom end of the main speakers. The RW10d doesn't seem to have options to take advantage of both LFE and running the pre-amp outs from the receiver at the same time. Am I missing something here??? Also, this sub seems to be a one-note sub. I can't seem to hear a bass drum kick over a bass guitar note. Any comments on this would be appreciated as well. Thanks! OH, PS...I know there are other subs out there but...I am needing to deal with Magonlia through BB in order to take back the RW10d outside of the 30 return policy. The martin logan Dynamo and Abyss blew me away when compared to other subs they had there (def tech, mirage, KEF, klipsch)

Does the Denon reassign the unused rear surround as mains? I wouldnt want the rear sound info mixed in with the main if that was not the case. What I did was do an A/B (a=high, b=low) bi-wire (bi-amp??)and there is a distinct difference from the original 2 wire setup. I was very pleased with the results.

I'm in Daytona Beach, FL. I don't know if all but..a lot of BB stores have added a Magnolia Audio/Video section to their stores. The only problem....while you can get RF-82, 62, and 52 mains there, you can only get RC 52, RS 42 and RW-10d as add ons. I ended up with RF-82, RC 52, RS 42 and RW 10d. At first, I was disappointed with the overall sound and thought I wanted a different sub and center. I went to a local dealer selling Klipsch and didn't see a lot of difference (it was there but not like night and day) after playing with all the options. Played with my system for a month. Once I got it dialed in....I am totally thrilled. What really made this system sing was Cross over at 45 on the sub, set all speakers to LARGE, and Bi-wired the 82s to A/B on receiver output for mains. I may have bought the system from the local Klipsch dealer but he would only go 15% off and did not have a same as cash finance plan. I didn't need the financing but...If I can get 20% off and 24 months no interest (which I got at BB/Magnolia), then I'm going to take it.

Probably missed you on this but..... I would get the RF-52 system. You could get that from Best Buy / Magnolia on a price match for around 1480.00 (whatever 20% off MSRP is). I think that would be a jammin' musical and HT system. BB met a local dealer's price (20% off) and gave me 2 years with no interest.

Now much for the RSW 12????

I have the rsw-10d with the RF82's. After about 3 weeks of break-in and playing around with placement, I am in love with this combo. I was so afraid this combo would be greatly lacking powerful, punchy, deep bass but to quite the contrary. They are a perfect compliment to my typical Florida home set up....irregular walls and open air environment (rooms that open into each other). What I really love about this set up is when I have to turn it down low when the kids are sleeping. I hear this growling little bass still defined at really low levels. I find both in HT and Musically (I am 50/50), this little sub is a keeper.

PS...I got the 10d sub with the 82 fronts because it was the only choice. The 82s put out a lot of bass. I noticed that Klipsch actually recommends the 10d in the RF82 home theater package. I assume it is because of all the bass the 82s produce.

I have the very set up you are looking at. 82 fronts, 52 center, 42 rears, 10d sub. I actually have a fairly large room this is in with irregular walls and open house environment. I am very happy with this setup. THe only thing I am questioning is the 42 rears. I can't mount them on a rear wall and have them on stands. I may take them back and get the 61s for the rear. Still deciding that.

Honestly, I can't tell a lot of difference. I've switched it all over the place. But the system is so new I may need to leave it longer in one set up to notice anything...or sit farther back from the speakers. Good thought though concerning the power and where it goes. My AV amp is older (2002). The crossover is set to 90 when you choose small for speakers. Don't have the ability to set the crossover to a specific number (Yamaha 5560). The amp is only 75w per channel so I get get more power to the mains by setting them to small.

Question: RF82 fronts, RC52 Center RW10d sub.... 82s should be set at Large or Small? 52 large or small? Swfr to Sub, or both main and sub??? BTW...the crossover is at 90 when set to small. Looking for best overall sound. Comments as to why would be appreciated.

Seems like this package would be better recommended with the RW12d.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS call and dispute these charges and plead your case. I have excellent credit but many times will open a card to take 0% for x months or 10-20% off my first purchase. Since I don't use much on credit cards, I've forgotten these from time to time. In every instance, I have gotten the late fees and services charges removed. Always call and give a story!! I would not have paid the 61.00. They would rather you keep the card open for a long time than to get mad and close it.

For all the bad press Best Buy/Magnolia gets...I had a great experience. This past weekend, pulled the trigger on some Def Tech BP 7600 supertowers and RW-10d sub. Together, these speakers sounded like total crap. So, I spend Sun-Tues visiting audio stores and listening to various set ups (Klipsch, Paradyme, Def Tech, Martin Logan, and on and on). One store that had the klipsch said "we'll give you 20% off if you take it now"!!!! Hmmmm, if they'll do it, Best Buy will match it. So, back to BB/Mag to listen to their Klipsch stuff. They didn't have all of the product I wanted but....without question they took the def tech stuff back and gave me 20% off on all the Klipsch stuff. So, I had 1800 and some change in the RW-10d and 7600 def tech and walked out for 1900 and some change with a pair of RF-82, RC-52, 2-RS-42 and the RW-10d. Came home and set everything up (minus the surrounds...see below) and kept my jbl rear surrounds in place. I was really blown away with this set up.and ended up watching movies and listening to music until 4am on a workday. Great stuff Klipsch! BB was out of the RS-42s and had to order them so I have a couple of days until they come in. Here is my dilemma. I'm not going to be able to wall mount the RS-42s. They guys at both BB and another audio store said the RS-42s would be better rears that bookshelf speakers but that many people use bookshelfs for rears. I figured out a way to mount the 42s on a stand. Do you think this will look really terrible??? Are the 42s that much of an advantage over the Rb-10s (or 61s for that matter)????? Any other suggestions? Thanks!
