  1. I must say I am totally pleased with the sound of these things. It's AWESOME!!!

Sounds great in both the theater and with the Klipschorns, but it's with the Klipschorns where the sound really improvement is so huge. I have really enjoyed listening to two channel again for the first time in a long time.

  2. Well, my wife told me to leave the 402s alone and not paint them.

She likes the sound and doesn’t mind black. The damaged pair are in the basement so she doesn’t care about looks down there, and the pristine  replacement pair are on top of the Klipschorns in our teaching studio and she thinks black makes them less omnipresent.

A truly understanding and indulgent person!

No experience at all with the Chinese tube amps. Only tube equipment I own is the Conrad Johnson PV2 preamp which mate very well with the McIntosh solid state amps I've tried with it.

I have tried a few Chinese tube amps. Thus far the only ones I have tried that I would recommend without hesitation are Yaqin models. I have owned a couple of their integrated amps and phono preamps (still own some) and was very happy with them on Klipschorns as well as some other less efficient speakers. Very quiet and nice sound. The one I still own is EL34 tubed and pushes 35-40 watts. Should work well with any big Klipsch including Cornwalls.

Nice combo for someone.   Great price. GLWS.  Active systems affordable dream.

These will require an active crossover to work well. I have used both Ashly Protea and Xilica with excellent results.

  5. I am selling my pair of JBL 2360a horns with heavy JBL adjustable metal stands. They currently have EV DH1A drivers on them and I have added tweeters to the JBL stands (easily removed). The tweeter is a QSC horn Claude was recommending a few years back with Dayton D250P-8 drivers. I have used these for several years on top of quarter pie bass bins. The combo produces a really nice sound, HUGE soundstage, with great detail.

I would like to sell them as a complete unit but will consider parting out the horns and stands seperatly.

Asking $500 as a complete package. Local pickup in West Chester Ohio (Cincinnati area).

Yes, have an automotive wrap applied. Hundreds of option, might be able close match the bass bin. When you want a new look, peel it off and go again. Once painted you’re pretty much stuck with color.  I’ll try to post pics of mine wrapped in an iridescent blue.

I would like to see that.

How did you have it applied (DIY or professional)?

what about a wrap... that way you could always change it out if you wanted.

Or are you planning on painting them black?

have you thought about moving them to the front of the bass bin so the two (HF/LF) are more inline?

    Something like this...

    I like the photo shop!

I have thought of that but am reluctant to remove the K-horn top hats. I am worried something might happen to them.

I am still figuring out painting. I may take them to an auto body shop and get them to do it.

  8. The damaged 402 horn was repaired yesterday. I used JB Weld Plastic Bonder (2 part urethane)  and was pleased with the reult. The scars are quite visible but at some point I will paint it and they should be undetectable.

After a couple of hours of trying to remember how to get my computer to talk to my Ashly 3.6 and running REW I got them setup on my Klipschorns. The K402 sound certainly lives up to the hype!  I sat down and listened to many of my favorite recording well past midnight. Massive sound stage, amazing clarity and detail.  I am one very happy horn head.

  9. I have worked a deal so that I am getting a new pair but will keep the damaged ones as well (at a huge discount).

I have been researching repairing the damage and think I should be able to do it without it being overly noticeable. A paint job will also be in the works. I will post pictures of the repair progress once I start.

Looking forward to getting these up and running and I'm sure I will be bugging all of you for help.

  10. Well, the K402s arrived today and the carrier smashed them!. Despite fragile stickers and a big sign saying "do not stack" clearly they put something heavy on them. IDIOTS!

Paducah Home Theater is working on it and will make it right but what a waste. One horn lens smashed, both bases damaged, I didn't look further for more damage but it wouldn't surprise me.

This is the second thing I have bought from them and the first time was perfect so I am not blaming Paducah, just stunned that the carrier could deliver something in that condition like it's normal.

  11. Finally took the plunge and have bought a pair of K402 horns from Cory. I will be using these on top of quarter pie bass horns a with Xilica active crossovers. I have read that these will need some serious EQ to sound right. Anyone have a good bass line setting for me to start with? I will be using REW to get everything just right but would love to have a good starting point.

Any other tips from experienced users would also be appreciated.

  12. For sale is a pair of Crites type A crossovers that were built to be bi-ampable (or not with jumpers).

Bob built these for me not long before his passing. I used these with my Klipschorns with a 2A3 tube amp on the mid/highs, and a Crown SS amp for the bass bin.

Works really nicely, however during Covid (too much time on my hands) I went to an active crossover on the K-horns so I no longer have a need for these.

    $275 shipped to U.S. address
