Maybe you have the monitor out from the Receiver to the S-Video in on the TV, which would be right. If you still need VCR, go out and get a S-VHS. It will make your life (and your wife and kid's life) a whole lot easier. Hook everything in with S-Video and press one button to switch. quote: THe only requirement is that the VCR has to work with out changing video channels. Not sure what you mean by this. I'm sure I can help you if you explain what you're talking about. As for the TV, that is what I ment. As for the VCR, right now all you have to do is turn the TV on and then the VCR. You don't have to change to different video channels on the TV or the receiver. Basically, I don't think that I am getting the best picture that I can from my satellite. That is because the coax from the satellite comes into the house, then to the satellite receiver's in, then out to the VCR in, then out to the TV. I am trying to KIS and get the best picture without too many switches. Thanks for the help. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater
  2. 2 things. After 10 years of car audio I have found that it is really hard to make bass non-directional. i.e. make it sound like it isn't comming from the trunk. Whether or not, it is vibrational energy or not is neither here nor there. It is still localizable. next, why is everyone so against 2 subs. My receiver has 2 sub outs as does many of them. Not to mention that most HT set up "how to" have one sub up front and one in the back. I know that the movie theater that I go to doesn't have just on sub supplying all the bass. Neither does my car. Of course my car has the speakers side by side but you can look at any SPL vehicle and see that there are many subs facing each other at different angles. No cancelation. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater

I prefer to have a subwoofer without an internal amp as I can decide which amp to use. Better amps give you better sound quality. So yes. There is also a huge difference in the amount of power going to the sub. 190 vs 350 ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater
  5. I am not tying to start a fight but, make sure that your cables are bought at a place that will let you return them. Maybe I am going deaf (although my all my hearing test when I was in the Navy said my hearing was better than most) but I cannot tell a difference between cables. I spent $300 on Monster cables in my car and there was no sonic differences. I went from generic walmart cable to Monster home theater cable in my home and once again didn't notice a difference. The only difference that I did notice was when I bi-wired my Klipsch. I am not sure if it was because I bi-wired them or because I took off that terrible copper bus bar. bottom line is that almost all cable is made from the same Cu. Yeah some utilize Ar gas but unless you are the Sentinal, your hearing isn't good enough to tell the difference. Next time you go to a store that wants to sell you $500 cables, tell them to let you set up the AB test and see if the sales associate can tell the difference. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? 6. stores use computers and have duplicates. Also, did you use a credit card? That is another way to get the receipt. If only everyone would adopt the walmart open return policy! ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater
  7. WOW, and at $8 a movie, it will take FOREVER to break even. That used to be my dream then I woke up and realized that I will never have that much money. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater
  8. I have a Panasonic 32" Tau flat screen TV and I am a little currious about the best way to hook it up. The sales person told me that it had 2 rear s-video plugs and in fact it has 1 in rear and 1 in the front. My satellite has s-video and composite. My DVD player has s-video and composite also. Right now I have the coax cable running into the house and then to the satellite and VCR. Then the coax goes to the TV. On the TV I have the s-video out running to my Sony STR-DA555ES to the monitor in. Now I have the DVD s-video running to the reveiver s-video in and the satellite s-video running to the receiver s-video in. I am not even using the component cable because I don't have any equipment with component in/out. Thanks for the help. THe only requirement is that the VCR has to work with out changing video channels. Too complicated for the wife and the son. Thanks again. The homepage should be in my signature with all my equipment. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater
  9. Here is a new webpage with all my equipment. I am using DSL service at 1.5MB so someone with a modem tell me how bad the loading is. Thanks. Also I am using Geocities which has a terrible free service. If anyone knows a good place to do HTML for free that isn't going to shut down every hour, let me know. Geocities free service has a terrible data transfer. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? 10. how do I get to the parts catalog on the web page. I know it used to be there but I can't find it now. I was just doing a little playing around and realized that my RS-3 woofer has a 1" dented scratch. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  11. I don't understand why the 16-46 would be overkill. It is only $76 more. Can't you just turn down the bass if it is too much? ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  12. Why not save yourself a lot of money and buy some Aura Bass Shakers. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?

    Lf10

theearwax has alot of sarcastic posts. I have yet to see any pictures on this forum of any equipment that he has. I think that he is probably some little kid with whatever equipment mommy and daddy have. Just ignore him. As for the LF10, I got a post from some of the moderators and the LF10s from the ubid warehouse are covered by the Klipsch warranty. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  14. I don't use an equilizer or anything like that but I did find that calibration with a test CD helped my sound a lot. AVIA is good and not too expensive. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?

  16. I am probably not going to be much of a help but . . . I have never used either of these receivers but I do have the DA555ES from Sony. I think that it is the same except it doesn't have dual room capabilities. Probably some other things but hey. I simply love my Sony. It has performed flawlesly. Sounds great, awesome warranty, great features and make my Klipsch reference sound great. As for the HK. I went to school with a guy that worked at an electronics store. So, he got things at cost. I think that he got the one lemon in the bunch. He had to have his HK serviced like 3 times. At that point he went with a Yamaha. Which he liked. Personally, I don't. Now this is my only experience and I am sure there are many that have had the oposite experience. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  17. What is the best way to get large guage speaker wire to fit into a receiver. I am using 14 guage wire in a bi-wire configuration. Because of this my end that goes into the receiver is pretty large. I am thinking of getting new cables (10g) and just wanted to know how to get the ends to fit. I am using a Sony DA555ES receiver. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  18. Are they really RF-3s or did you mean RS-3. If they are RF-3 then I don't think any kindof bracket would hold their weight. But RS-3 is a different story. They are heavy and many have had luck. The questionis, how are you going to hang them. Are they going to be up agains a post or are you going to free hang them from the ceiling. Let me know and then I can point you in the right direction. www.partsexpress.com has many brackets for this kind of stuff. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  19. Thanks, I guess you guys just saved me $300. Wish I could have talked the wife into a HDTV but it took me 3 years to upgrade the 25" tv with no inputs or outs on the back. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  20. I see that they are still selling the LF 10 on UBID. Are these still under Klipsch warranty like they were a few months ago? They are from the UBID warehouse. Going for $500 which is a little better than the $1200 for the new ones. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  21. So, back to the question, what is the point of the component video(Y,Pr,Pb) plug on my TV. It is a Panasonic TAU pure flat 32" TV. I don't beleive that it is capable of more than 480i. Thanks for all the help. Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  22. I would think that your receiver is ok for your speakers. If your receiver were underratted then you would most likely be getting distortion at that level. And you say that you aren't. I am not sure why you have to turn it up so loud. . . what is the size of your room. In my listening room (small) I only have to set my receiver to 3 out of 10. This gets me to 75 dbs on my rat shack meter on the AVIA test CD. This brings me to another thought. Have you calibrated your system? Another thought is your sub. Is it powered? Or is it sucking up the power from your receiver. Also, how do you have your main speakers set. I have mine set to small so that the bass management system sends all the bass to my sub. I noticed a big difference between this setting and the large setting. On the large setting there wasn't a very good bass extension and this made everything seem quieter. Hope this helps. Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  23. Then what is the point of a component video(Y,Pr,Pb) on a TV. Aren't the only products that utilize these PS DVD players and HDTVs. My TV has them but isn't HDTV compatible. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  24. I thought the only requirement is that you have a component video(Y,Pr,Pb). ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  25. I went to look at a PS DVD player today to replace my normal DVD. The sales associate told me that PS only works with HDTV. Is this true? I thought that it took the normal interlaced scan of an analog TV and scanned it faster to get a better quality picture. Can someone please clear this up for me?
