  1. yep, the wires running along the floor are the speaker cables. i have not noticed any problems with them like this. they are shielded fairly heavy. impact acoustics is where they came from. heavy silicone jacket. the mains are towed in just a bit. it would be nice to bring them in away from the walls more, but i think they'd be too close together. i too have seen the little pieces that keep the wiring off the floor. snake oil if you ask me. that is unless it was causing a static problem. do you have any ground loop, static or any other problems related to wiring? the old pentax is not co-operating with me today...
  2. thanks! it is my living room. i have a temporary sub 12 that sits beside the couch to the left that you can't see in the photo. you are right daryl, the ultra13 will look so nice, maybe even two will look better![] that will be in a couple of months. meanwhile, the sub-12 is pretty impressive for its size. a bit boomy, but loud. i will try to get a few pics in the daylight to get a clearer image. inventor, the cable management along with the custom cabinet looks very nice! that is how things turn out for me too when i let my ocd run wild![] that is the only thing i don't like about not having a dedicated audio 'rack', the fact that every wire is on top of each other. makes it hard to 'keep 'em seperated'.
  3. Slightly updated from previous pic's in this thread!
  4. zappa plays zappa dvd. with 'ocd like' enthusiasm, i have watched this entire dvd set over and over again!! i have never listened much to franks music, but this is one of THE best bands that i've ever seen. some of the best jams to date. inca roads is probably the pinnacle for me. dweezil nails a terrific solo. this is a must have dvd!!!!
  5. i contacted them via e-mail before the holidays and they replied very promptly. the way i read into it was that you pay up front, they build the sub you want, then delivery is set up. 4-6 weeks from start to finish. it would be nice if they could keep atleast a few in stock...
  6. i am looking for a good quality cd/dvd cabinet. i should point out i'm looking for the cabinet style where the front would have doors. nothing super big. i have about 300 cds and maybe 50 or so dvd's. it seems after searching the web, there is not a whole lot out there. any ideas?
  7. i have the oppo 980, and if it is atleast as good as that, then it will be your best buy if you are not gaming. of course, it depends on the selling price!
  8. I have no complaints with any of it, but I was wanting floorstanding speakers, just didn't have the room for them. I have the RW-12d subwoofer, see my sig for my info, and I just posted some pics here: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/42024.aspx?PageIndex=109 nice looking system nzorn! very cool use of your available space. [H]
  9. i have heard both the lpa-1 and the xpa-5 on rf-7's. same source as well, lmc-1 processor. the xpa-5 may have a little more power, but i can clearly say that the lpa-1 sounds every bit as good, not to mention you have two more channels. i really like my xpa-5, but have been wondering how different the xpa-2 would sound in two channel versus the 5? that seems to be the question for me. also, how the new upa-7 sounds versus the older lpa1 would be good to know. now if i only had the 5-6k to blow on a macintosh...
  10. 800 wpc from what? just curious. what do you like about the KLF's more than the 7's?
  11. hey gilbertma, nice looking set-up, especially with the many emo amps! a couple of questions about the epik. does it have good impact being that the cone is so large? how long after you paid for it, did you receive it? their website shows atleast a 3 week delay. last but not least, were the shipping rates reasonable due to the size/weight? i'm sure i can think of a few more, lol! i think i can get over the size issue as long as the performance is that much better than that of the pb13 ultra which is about half the size.
  12. anyone know of a wall mount designed to use the existing mounting holes on the bottom of the rb-81?
  13. i have tried a few of the different varieties of pledge. some have wax, and a couple do not. pledge actually made an aerosol for awhile that was called 'pledge wood and glass' that worked extremely well. of course, they no longer make it now and my can is empty now!! i have the rf-7's with the black woodgrain veneer. just wondering what everyone has had good luck with.
  14. the cost is $200, but the jvc kaboombox is second to none that i've heard. other than that, sony has a few decent ones for around $100. some of those oldschool 'boomboxes' in jb's post go for over $500 on fleabay. i wish i had all of the ones i had as a kid!
  15. i dunno.... after looking at the panamax for the $$$, it looks awfully good! kinda pretty too! lol!
  16. thanks for the information on furman. they seem to be the real deal. the link to the belkin surge protectors is just like the one in sams. i'm not really wanting to make another spot on the audio rack for a protector, so probably one of the strips will be fine for what i need. the one i currently have was a cheaper one from costco that i've had for 4 years. even though it is a lesser model, i do believe it has done its job. now that i've upgraded gear a few notches, i figure better to upgrade the protection. the surge protection is a no brainer, i was more curious as to the 'conditioning' part.
  17. i currently have a relatively cheap but seemingly effective surge protector. what are everyones' thoughts concerning the monster cable series such as the hts 1000 or 900? i can pick either one of these up cheap at the local circuit city that is closing. not sure if they are even worth the effort? also sams club had a nice looking one as well for only $20.
  18. got my xpa-5 up and running tonight. you will NOT be lacking any power or headroom. it will peel your ears back!!
  19. wow. just saw this post. thanks harry for the pic's and information. old b, i know they have some pristine cw's up there for you....
  20. right on swl! my next 'stereo' investment will be the svs ultra-13 which is ported. the rsw does have nice attributes and looks well with the rest of its 7 family. i just need that little extra that exists. the conquest would probably be a better bang for the buck, but the size is a lttle much.
  21. CD? SACD? DVD-A? The heartbeats? They sound great to me. Of course, I've not heard them on a Conquest. sacd. yep, the heartbeats. there is a lot of low end information there that does not come across very well with the rsw. the rw-12d played the lower hz much better.
  22. a few things to add... the distortion equaling more output with human hearing is most likely what i'm talking about missing without the ported design. i have built many sub boxes starting back in '92 when car audio was in its infancy. simple sealed, ported, 2nd and 4th order bandpass boxes. bass, as in 1994 when orion was american made and had a demo van with 18 twelve inch drivers that would demolish windshields and would permanantly deafen you without aircraft grade hearing protection. if you have ever experienced the 'feeling' of that amount of bass, then you know how to justify 'quantities' and 'qualities' of the lower realms of the frequency range. not that i'm looking for that extreme amount, but i do realize what and if something is missing or if something is not near worthy of certain acclaim. especially with some of the pricing for these subs. i do realize everyone has their idea of clean output at different Hz ranges. for instance, everyone here with the rsw try listening to the opening track of dark side of the moon. let me know how much impact is there in the first minute or so.
  23. are you sure you just don't have a woodpecker problem going on there............. []
