  1. all the oil in the world ain't worth a nickel if you are hungry. the whole futures trading deal needs way more restrictions in the terms of non-renewable fossil fuels. i like the bulls on parade idea buc. lol!! of course our government is worried about nothing but themselves. sad part is that we still pay them. if private companies were run like the government, there wouldn't be any.
  2. i say to the saudi's and the other sand laden countries..... grow your own food in the sand or an ear of corn will cost you $50.00. a head of lettuce will cost you $200.00. and you don't even want to know the price of fruit! the price of oil will be so cheap you couldn't give it away when they are going hungry. so much for OUR government protecting our best interests. to my knowledge, once the oil wells are tapped, there is a constant flow that cannot be stopped until that particular well is dry. $3.99 in southern indiana...
  3. $3.89 regular unleaded in southern indiana. they just can't wait to get to the $4 mark.
  4. i saw that this morning and about fell over!!!
  5. buttered bread at that.... [H]
  6. that's all good, but this is way more fun and a bit more economical...
  7. Why the difference?? the truck (commercial) diesel is tax exempt. the commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds gvw pay a road tax based on mileage in each state versus amount of gallons bought in that state. the regular car diesel is taxed like regular unleaded. atleast that's how it is in these parts!![8-|]
  8. $3.79 for regular in southern indiana. $4.39 for truck diesel. $4.69 for car diesel. ouch!!
  9. i'm thinking klipsch might oughta check into manufacturing high end gas pump speakers!! LOL!!!! the local stations here in southern indiana do the same thing if you intend on paying inside. it sounds like they have a 100 watt amp behind that deal! oh yeah, $3.69 in good ole southern indiana...
  10. I was disappointed in how low the mileage is reported for this car. I would have expected >60mpg in a car this small. It's not even as high as a Prius. I'm scratching my head. wasn't it back in '83 or so when the ford escort diesel was getting 60 mpg?? i'm pretty sure the price new for that car was way more in line, and i know it was much easier to work on than anything out now. and people are bragging about their prius toys and such? what about advancement in engineering? the older volkswagon diesels also mustured up 60+ mpg. just another effect of the green patrol. why is common sense not so 'common' anymore?
  11. it is the driving force of what i do for a living. just a few short years ago it was roughly 20% of expenses. today, it is over 50% of my expenses. not to mention the price of everything else creeping up. i don't think that it is that big a part of most folk's budget, but it does start to cause a little discomfort when your $55.00 fill up used to be $25.00 just a couple of years ago.
  12. wow, amazing to find this thread again..... hope it continues. it takes 1 gallon of diesel to make 1 gallon of ethanol. why would anyone want to buy that?? not to mention it has very poor burn characteristics. just another subsidized industry. the same product as gasahol in the 70's. i've been paying $4-$4.15 per gallon for diesel for a few months now. in southern california diesel is over $4.40 per gallon. you can drive right across the imaginary line into mexico and buy diesel for $2.20 per gallon. and no, i don't want to live in mexico.
  13. [quote user="colterphoto1" Many of my favorite shots are of the performers ENJOYING themselves. The way Keef and Woodie grin at each other like naughty schoolboys, Charlies miscevious look (say hello Charlie - 'hello'), Mick's look as he turns and heads toward the back line giving instructions, egging the others on, is something that is recorded faithfully here. Keith spitting out a cigarette, the older interviews, 'look in here, I'm the only one gets to see that!' ] not to get too off topic here, but one of my biggest kicks of any concert, or concerts on dvd is where the performers are really having a good time. to me, that's what it's all about. when the performers are really into it and getting their kicks, it comes across that way. that is what makes a great performance. nothing like seeing band members getting that grin on their face with another band member simply out of sheer enjoyment of playing the tune!
  14. LOL!!!!!! i'm gonna get me a tank to lug around too!! just think of how many people would quietly get the hell out of your way. the heck with brandishing a gun, just get yourself an oxygen tank and air hammer! i totally got what the movie was about. i almost ended it in the beginning when mr. psycho killed the first victim. yeah, like he could just kill whomever he would like without ever being noticed?? i know, it's a movie. but a real lame one at that...
  15. i was just wondering if the imax version of this film is in 3D? when i went to see the U2 3D film at the imax indy, the stones film preview was also in 3D.

    Steely Dan?

for starters, i would get the 'showbiz kids' 2 disc cd set. this is a very good compilation. the two against nature dvd is a sure bet as well. any of their albums are great.
  17. very cool!! i wouldn't mind hearing all of those myself....!!
  18. i have an onkyo 702 with the rf-7's and rc-7. when it comes to 2 channel stereo, the onkyo really sucks!! with all channels stereo, it does pretty decent. on the other hand, dts and dolby digital whether it it a standard movie or a concert dvd, sounds very good. it could have more power for my liking, but it is a bang for the buck receiver. when using it for multi-channel (sacd and dvd-audio), it sounds pretty darn good. in this mode i think you are only hearing the amp of the onkyo and the processing of whatever your source is. overall it is a really nice unit. the newer hk's do have a much smoother sound and their price reflects this. i've heard much more expensive equipment on the rf's and then you start to hear what they are capable of. i am having a hard time deciding between the mic eq settings or just leaving the eq off? does your onkyo play the sub while in 2 channel stereo?
  19. calexico has a performance on one of the austin city limits festival dvd's. just in case you are interested. they have a pretty cool tex-mex sound.
  20. yeah the glasses they give you are clear and are pee-wee herman sized for sure!! like indy mentioned, you get a feel for the performance that you couldn't get, even live. i actually took my girls to the hannah montana 3D movie just a couple of months back. the phenemonal 3D effect is the primary reason i went to see the u2 film. i have to admit, the hannah montana show was pretty darn good for a teeny-bopper rock show. billy ray help put together a pretty tight little band to back her up, and the kid put on a good show as well. i can't believe i just admitted to enjoying a hannah montana movie...!! lol!!
  21. if aussie floyd ever comes close to here again, i'll definitely go check them out. they sounded really great via the website. there is another psuedo floyd band i heard of the other day named the pink floyd experience.
  22. i still have a soundstage show on dvr from last summer that had peter frampton on. that was very good. austin city limits is all over the map as far as musical styles they showcase. i've seen some really good one's, and a few really bad one's. in my opinion, of course...
  23. i have watched all of these to the point of almost being obsessive!! lol!! first and foremost, you might as well buy the pulse dvd set. even though roger waters is absent, you don't miss him. the video is pretty good being from many years earlier, and the sound is very good, dolby digital 5.1. the pyro effects, lasers, and the quality of the show in general really keep you watching. comfortably numb and run like hell are my favorites on the pulse set. next at a very close second and maybe even tied for first, david gilmour live a royal albert hall. excellent video, and excellent sound, again dolby digital 5.1. they also offer this in blue-ray. basically it is gilmour with his own lineup that includes a few guys who have played with floyd before and more. they play gilmour's newest album, 'on an island' in it's entirety and also play many floyd tunes. 'on an island' is different than most floyd albums, but still a top notch album. as mentioned before, echoes is tops on this dvd as well as fat old sun. not too much in the way of a huge stage show, just gilmour doing things his way. this dvd also has extra footage showing some interesting parts of that tour. next would be roger water's 'in the flesh live' dvd. basically water's with his own lineup with a few of the guys who have played with floyd or waters in different times. they play many floyd tunes but also play many of water's solo tunes which in my opinion are just ok. dolby digital 5.1 here as well. great video and sound. also great back-up singers on this one. the chick in the middle(hot), is doyle bramhall's wife. between him and snowy, they just about cover gilmour's licks. next would be david gilmour's meltdown concert dvd. very good video and sound. mostly acoustic versions of floyd tunes. very good though. there is another gilmour dvd that is very hard to find where he plays mostly tunes from his first solo album. not for sure the title of that one. maybe fish can help us out here! if anyone here has not heard that album, you might want to give it a serious spin. there is my spin for what it's worth...
  24. maybe fleetwood mac will get ms. crow back on track. her first album was truly great. after that, who know's what happened? i happened to hear her latest fm radio addition titled 'gasoline'. what a trainwreck that song is!! talented for sure though.
