  1. Ok, so far it looks like the Dig. Video Essentials DVD covers more ground than the Avia DVD. But descriptions online of course say each is the best one. If anyone out there has experience with either/both, please chime in. Jeff
  2. I'll check out the Digital Video Essentials as well. Thanks!
  3. Merkin, Are you familiar with the Avia DVD? Positive results? I'll do some searching around today and see what I come up with too. Thanks for the help. Jeff
  4. Hi Everyone, I'm familiar with audio setup discs and was wondering if the same exists for video? I'm pleased with the settings on my TV, but it'd be fantastic to tweak them if I'm maybe off a hair with color, contrast, etc. Anyone heard of such a thing? I tried doing a search, but no luck. If it's been discussed, please lead me to the right spot! Thanks! Jeff
  5. Sounds like a question that Ear just answered for me in an email. . .I'll report back when I get my Ultras hooked up. Jeff
  6. Jeff, I may have a line on some used LaScalas here in WI. I'm waiting to hear more about them and if they're actually for sale or not. I'm just north of you in Oak Creek. Drop me an email at tidmack@yahoo.com. Jeff
  7. Kevin, Thanks for asking. . .yes, both pairs of Cornwalls, a pair of Scalas, and two pairs of Heresys are sold. I was looking to finance a home remodeling project, but now regret selling one of the pairs of Cornwalls tremendously. Damn, they sounded good!
  8. Royster, You have a PM. Jeff
  9. Hey guys, Saw this in this morning's Journal: Speakers: pair of Klipsch corner horns, light oak finish, mint cond. $2700/obo 414-481-9899 I called on them and spoke to the owner's wife. She know's nothing about the speakers and said that her husband will be home after 4pm central time. If I wasn't in the middle of massive home remodeling, I'd probably consider these, the "obo" makes me think that $2k cash may be enough to walk on these. Jeff
  10. Thanks for the plug Mike, I appreciate it. For anyone interested in either pair of Heresys, swing me an email and I'll help however I can. Many thanks guys, Jeff
  11. Hi guys, Boomac, thanks for the offer to grab these for someone, I appreciate it. These are my Heresy II's and I'd really prefer a local buyer. I'm quoting shipping a little high, but I don't know what Heresy's weigh in at packed and I'd rather refund a difference than take a hit. I'm really reluctant to ship these at all, they are just gorgeous. When Spaaaz picked up his Cornwalls a couple of weeks ago, we listened to these as well. I think he'd also vouge for their condition. If anyone is interested in the WI area, I also have a pair of Heresy I's from 1980 (have to check #'s to be certain) that I want to sell too. The I's I'd let go for $400 locally. Original drivers, average cabinet condition with some nicks and scratches. Email me at tidmack@yahoo.com for pics of the I's. Jeff
  12. Mick I would consider parting with a pair of Scalas. Have to check serial #'s, but they're early 80's. Alnico K55 and well liked AA networks. Average scratches, no major dings, look presentable in a living room. Drop me an email if you're interested and we can discuss a price as I have just recently thought about selling a pair. I'm in Oak Creek, WI. . .mapquest says we're 387 miles from eachother! Jeff j.tiedke@oakcreek.k12.wi.us
  13. Mike, Glad you're happy! Enjoy the Cornwalls, I'm excited they went to a good home and will get some use. Keep in touch about the LaScalas if you or or brother are ever interested. Jeff
  14. I too run a 2100 and 2105 between my Cornwalls, LaScalas, and Heresys. I've been known to get the meters moving a little on the 2105 (I think my neighbors hate me), but 100 watts is more than my ears could ever handle. Just a side note: I think the 2105 and 2100 are a little noisey at idle. I try to run more gain from my preamp than from the amp to minimize this, but the horns will bring out the noise more on the amp than other speaks I've run on them. Anyone else agree or disagree? Jeff
  15. Who, Thanks!!! Ok, one last question. . .is this safe to do? Am I taxing the preamp or amps in any way by doing the split? Is there a better alternative for running multiple amps while still using my existing equipment? Thanks a ton- Jeff
  16. No problem, here's a little better explanation. . . I have a two channel amp and I get "x" volume when the dial on my preamp is at, let's say 10:00. Oddly, when I add another two channel amp (Y splitter used to connect to 2 channel preamp) to connect another pair of speakers, the volume is noticeable quieter on the original pair of speakers that were used in the two channel system. The overall sound is louder becuase I now have 4 speakers, but the volume from that particular pair seems less than when I had them running on their own. I'm using two identical amps and 4 of the same model/vintage of speakers. The only thing that's changing is I'm splitting the preamp signal to accomodate the extra amp to run the 2nd pair of speakers. I'm hoping this helps a bit. Earlier in the post, someone suggested that I'm possible halving the preamp signal. If yes, is that bad? Jeff
  17. Mark, Thanks for your input. I'm sort of baffled here. . . I'd really like to have two pairs of speakers running up in the living room without having to use a receiver. We'll see if anyone else chimes in- Jeff
  18. Hi everyone- A couple years ago, I experimented with hooking two pairs of speakers up to a Mac 2105 using some suggestions here on the forum. Soon after, I found a 2100 and didn't need to run both off one amp. At the time, I also asked about running two amps with one preamp and was told that splitting the signal from my preamp (mx 113) is ok to do. So I went out and bought some Monster Y splitters, but found that the volume wasn't the same. For instance, 10:00 on the preamp volume knob before running both amps gave me "X" volume. With the 2nd amp and set of speakers hooked up (4 LaScalas), the pair of speaks that originally gave me "X" volume at 10:00 were now not as loud. The overall volume of course was louder because I had a 2nd set of speakers hooked up. I soon disconnected everything and went back to listening to just one pair, one amp. Was I hearing things? Without an SPL meter, it's difficult to discern whether or not the original pair of LaScalas were indeed softer when the 2nd amp was hooked up. My question is: did I properly hook both amps up to the mx 113? How do those on the board hook up multiple pairs of speakers and amps using vintage equipment that is only meant for 1 or 2 pairs of speakers or just 1 amp? Eventually, I'd love to score some cornerhorns and put together a Mac amp based home theatre with the pair of horns and 4 LaScalas. Hoping I made some sense, Jeff
  19. Mike, I tossed you an email this a.m. Thanks for your interest. Jeff
  20. Hey guys, Bumping these back up one more time. I have some room to negotiate on this pair. I also have two pairs of Heresey's that I'm looking to part with. Home remodeling projects and the beginnings of a Klipsch "museum" are forcing the sales. Detailed photos of all speakers available. Jeff
  21. Joe, When I mentioned the driver and crossover thing in the other thread, I didn't necessarily mean it as a negative. I tend to gravitate toward originality and I especially love the AA network that were originally in your 'Scalas. But as others have pointed out, they're going to sound Excellent no matter what!! Best of luck with your new speaks- Jeff
  22. Joe, Are the 'Scalas you bought the ones in the link at the beginning of the thread? If not, please disregard my previous statements. If yes, check out the pic that shows the rear of one speaker. . .it shows a k55m and an AL network, which isn't right for a serial number "R" from '77. It's not a big deal, they're still klipsch parts. I just didn't know if anyone else noticed this. Take care, Jeff
  23. I looked at these too. . .If I remember correctly, the Squwaker and Crossover wasn't correct for the year speaker. I believe they were '77s which had AA crossovers and the Alnico k55. . .I seem to remember AL's and newer k55's in these. Am I in left field on this one?
  24. Mighty, Are we talking the vertical II's or the new ones? I've never heard vertical Corns. . .I hear from others that their soundstage is much better. I did hear some late 80's cornwall II's that I remember sounding much like my '84s. Something about these '77s seems smoother though, maybe the Alnico drivers??
  25. Colter, Drop me an email at tidmack@yahoo.com. I have a little room to work with on these Cornwalls. Hey, I also have two pairs of Heresey's I'm looking to part with too! One pair is alnico driven from the late 70's and the others are immaculate II's from '86 I believe. Jeff
