  1. anyone else compare epics to Heritage series?
  2. My favorite to show off the system is Steely Dan's Hey Nineteen
  3. I had a pair of cf-3's for years, i loved them until I picked up a pair of Cornwall 2's at a sale. I A - B' ed them against each other and truthfully the cornwalls made the Epics sound like a transistor radio in comparison! I sold off the Epics right after that, sold em on e bay for 300 bucks - Doh! wish I had kept em, don't know what version they were but I hadn't realy been bitten by the Klipsch bug yet. Once I got my Klipschorns is when the the bug hit me and now I have like 10 pairs all over the place!
  4. plays the video games through it too, sounds great in surround!
  5. almost forgot...The sons system: Kg4.5 fronts, sc-1 center and sb-3 rears.
  6. A pic of the Zebrawood K Horns Bill has now....
  7. My new KLF - 20's with a KLF-C7 center surround system and RW10 sub, just need to pick up a couple small rears now to finish it off....
  8. My 2 Channel system 1978 Walnut Klipschorns with cane grills, recapped with sonicaps from Bob Crites
  9. i have been looking for a set of those for my 68 Heresys! Could I get a pair? Ed
  10. I have a 5 channel surround system set up, Klipschorns in the front, heresy's in the back and a KLF -C7 in the middle, I dont have room for anything bigger and it sits nicely in the space I have. I do not have a TV attached to this system. It seems that everything I listen too is recorded in stereo and my best sound is achieved when i go direct from the source to the 2 main speakers with the other 3 off. although the FM Radio sounds good in Dolby surround, they must broadcast it in the correct format. Am I missing something with the center channel for music or are people just talking about home theater for more than 2 speakers?
  11. Can anyone tell me what the differences would be? Thanks! Ed
  12. I just picked up a pair of KG 4.5's for a HT system in my "sons room" had it all hooked up for about a week when all of a sudded the left speaker started "cracklin, and making anoying sound"...a little of the source material gets through. Can anyone give me a dignosis and instructions for repair? Thanks! Ed
  13. And here is the prerequisite picture...before you have to ask!
  14. I have been reading how Klipschorns love tube amps and I just picked up an HH Scott 399. Now I need someone to go through it for me to make sure it is ok. The fuse is blown so there is a bad sign and I don't want to screw with it myself. Any Recomendations? I have read good stuff about NOSValve in Michigan but I am hoping to find someone local. Also, anyone have experience with The HH Scott 399? Is it a good choice? strengths? weaknesses? Thanks! Ed
  15. Well, The Zebrawood Khorns are all done, here are the pics!
  16. I am not sure if those are serious questions or a joke? I own my house and my wife is a very patient understanding woman.....a saint! funny thing, Both my Cornwalls and my Khorns were aquired from men who said something like "my wife won't let me have them in the house"
  17. Here they are with the veneer done and the first coat of Tung oil applied...only a few more days to completion!
  18. Thanks for the advice! I am going to start with the 2 channel and just play it by ear (pun intended), I am driving the system with a denon avr3000 and an adcom 5800. I have started looking at mcintosh....thinking about a tube preamp with the adcom for the power, it has a monsterous 300 watts and probably wont even shift out of A class power driving the horns.
  19. my room is 14 feet wide and 30 feet long, there will be about 8 1/2 feet between them
  20. Let me start out by saying I am an old 2 channel guy......I listen mostly to older rock and some fusion jazz, cd's and Vinyl. I have been a Klipsch lover and luster of Horns of 30 years, but audio technicaly speaking I am a relative novice reading some of the technical stuff on this site. I recently moved up to the world of 5 channels with cornwalls as mains, heresys are rears and the center is a yamaha NS-ac300 it is a angled smallish table top center a friend gave to me, it all sounded pretty good, but I do not use it for HT, my LR is my sound room and I have another room for HT. I just picked up my 30 year dream Klipschorns and I am veneering them over with Zebrawood (I am showing pics in my thread tips for moving) and trying to figure out what to do with the surrounds... I did a search and read most of what looked relavent here already...but.... space is an issue..... I have 1 LaScala which from my reading is the perfect center, unfortunatly there is no way in my LR that is ever going to happen, My wife is a wonderfull woman and is even thinking my monsterous speakers will be ok but the Lascala in the middle would not work. Some reading suggests the Academy is the best center...why is that? I have the heresys and could use one for a center, I could veneer it to match the horns, but i didnt read anyone suggesting that was a good idea and could possibly use them for rears if I can shoehorn them in somewhere. so my questions are? Should I just go back to 2 channel since I mostly listen to 2 channel recorded music anyway? Should I just go to 3 channel, why? and if I do what should I use as a center? If I use the heresys as rears, what should I use as a center and why? (no room for the cornwalls anywhere so dont suggest em even though that would be amazing!) Thanks for your expert advice!
  21. First sheet of Veneer applied....we are going to have Zebrawood Klipschorns!
