  1. You had me scared for a second there. JK It looks great. And the photography is pretty awesome too. ( I tried my hand in college)
  2. I recently saw a set of these and was wondering if anyone has experience with them. Pros/cons. Likes/dislikes http://cgi.ebay.com/CAMEL-HAIR-RECORD-CLEANING-CLEANER-BRUSH-BRUSHES-X2_W0QQitemZ200329320596QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_2?hash=item200329320596&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A200 Thanks for any info guys.
  3. Much. Where did everything go? Do you have a magic wand?
  4. Try asking this question in the "Powered Subwoofer" section of the forums. Those guys should have a few ideas for you. Welcome to the forum.
  5. How did it not slip off of the tennis balls? I boght some raquet balls this morning and was going to chop them in half and try a three or four point suspension. Any thoughts?
  6. Seriously, I am going to buy some raquet balls tomorrow. And over the weekend I willexperiment with them. I also need to get some rubber feet for the table that the TT sits on, I think that will help a bunch. I will let you know how it works out. It sure as heck cant hurt, and minimal investment. Hopefully I can take off my ballet slippers(that is for you Dennie- HAHA)
  7. Dennie, I knew you were jokin', jus messin' wit you. Mmmm, tennis balls, racket balls, my mind is racing now.
  8. First, is it sitting on a solid surface? Second, is the suspension working right? On mine at least, the platter and tonearm move independently of the plinth on a sub-chassis and are suspended on four adjustable coil springs. When I first got it, they were all mis-aligned and out of adjustment, so I spent an hour or so getting them working right. I don't know if your model is suspended the same way, but it's probably worth taking a look to see if it just needs a little sorting out. Islander, The TT is on a solid wood table, and I have hardwood floors, so yes, I need to isolate it somehow. As far as the suspension, that is a good question. The bottom is covered, not sure how to access it. I do have the manual, I will check that and go from there.
  9. I was kidding about the ballet shoes, but I do walk gently around the TT. Yea, something like that Dennie. But not those ones since they are sloped. I was going to get some foam, (cheap) or maybe some of those isolation cones. I saw on Audiogon where someone took tow pieces of MDF/plywood and set 2" of foam between it with the TT on top.
  10. With the Technics "disco-proof" suspension? Not likely to be a problem. I can rap my knuckles on the plinth of my SL-1400MK2 and not hear a thing throught the speakers, even at high volume settings. WOW. With my Technics, when I put the dust cover down you can hear it over the speakers. And I have to wear ballet shoes while playing vinyl. Time for a new TT, I guess.
  11. Glad to hear you hooked it up. I recently did this and now am enjoying all my old vinyl from high school and trash finds.
  12. Congrats on the buy, and the tolerant wife. Keep them pics coming.
  13. I will probably spend some time on the Audacity website this week to get familiar with the software and try it again next weekend on some lp's that are in good shape. I will keep you posted.
  14. I got the ART and hooked it up last weekend. Works great as a preamp/headphone thingy. I bought a cable from Parts express to go from it to my computers USB and recorded an LP. Granted the LP was in pretty bad shape, but the Audacity(which is in beta testing ) seemed like it was made more for DJ's, I had to go to Audacitys site to see what did what , and even then it seemed like Latin to me. The clik/pop removal tool didnt remove anything, but it did make the music seem more compressed, and distorted. That is my 2 cents. I think it would be great to take a pristine LP and transfer it to your computer, but to try to clean it up? I am not sure. If any of you guys have used it and been sucessful, please point out the error of my ways. that being said, I would like to know what the Goldwave is capable of. Sounds like good software. I am done.
  15. Well, that was a bust. There was a Thorens 160 going for 250, a few Duals, and a HUGE Denon for 750. Needless to say , I came home empty handed. There was some Mc Intosh stuff that seemed fair, but I am not to the tube stage yet, give me a few months. So it looks like local CL and E bay is where I will be shopping. Unless you guys have a TT sitting around. Anyhow, thanks for the input, I appeciate it.
  16. How do I take the dang thing off? One of the hinges is broken and I would like to try to fix it. I dont have the manual. Thanks guys.
  17. So I should stick with belt drive vs. direct drive?
  18. I agree, if I cant check it out, I wont buy it. I am hoping to meet up with some local vendors that carry the kind of stuff I am looking for
  19. Thanks for the help guys. I am really looking forward to this Sunday.
  20. I love these builds that you guys do. I am totally jealous. Those are absolutely beautiful, nice job.
  21. I am not familiar with that unit, I do have a Yamaha that I use for HT and 2 channel and love it. I would google Yamaha RX-V3900 reviews and see what is out there. Welcome to the form, and good luck, sounds like you have solid setup so far.
  22. That is hilarious ! My solution is, to me , simple. My GF has her condo, I have my apartment, I have my system (albeit meager) and she let me put one in her place(meager also). granted , we dont share finances, so she cant complain when I buy something. Her speakers are all black, that was her only concern, I have all wood, well almost, I need to get my rear surrounds changed out. But I am not in a hurry to do that. It is great, I mostly stay at her place during the week, and on the weekends I go to my place 8 blocks away an crank my stuff. It is working perfectly.
  23. The Vintage Voltage Expo is in Denver this Sunday, and I am hoping to score a TT. I am new to the TT part, as far as what is good. My parameters. I want a wood base, I have been looking on e bay, and really like the look of the Elac's, Rotels, Denons Thorens and Garrards. As far as performance, I have no idea. I would like to have one that I can use the four pin plug in cartdridge, that I currently have on my Technics. So instead of telling me what is good, maybe tell me ones to TOTALLY stay away from, taking into account the manufactures listed above. EDIT- I would like to spend some where in the $100-$150 range. Again, I thank the Knowlegable Klipsch Ninjas . Bring it on.
  24. OK. So at lunch today I put in the new cartridge, dang that thing sounds pretty good.
