  1. Keep em both. Nice score, you lucky dawg!!
  2. Sorry to hear about the retirement, I hope you make the best of it. I have really slowed down on the buying, trying to enjoy what I have , and I really dont think I am missing much. Sure there are some great deals on CL, but I just bite my tongue. I did buy a Harmony remote. Good luck guys.
  3. I bought a new stylus for my Pioneer PL 41 from e bay, I put it in and it sounds horrible. The best way I can describe it is "shrill" lots of distortion, sounds like an AM radio. I just pulled the old one out and pushed this one in. I have put the old one back in. even the GF said "That sounds like crap, put the old one in". Any ideas, the new one looks exactly like the old one. I am stumped. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Lucky guy, nice score. If I could find an unknowing shop owner.
  5. From the local used LP shop. Gordon Lighfoot-Summertime Dream The Allman Brothers Band- Enlightened Rogues Jackson Browne- Saturate Before Using Herb Alperts Tijuana Brass-Whipped Cream and Other Delights All this for the low low price of $13.00
  6. Sorry to hear about your loss, I am just glad that ONLY the speaker caught on fire. I dont know too much about amps, but from reading the thread, I thought you might be interested in these. I just saw them on the Denver CL http://denver.craigslist.org/ele/1210121604.html
  7. I cant wait to see the finished product. Website was great, keep the pics comming.
  8. Bruce, Not sure if you ( or anyone else) can help. But so far the cds have been sounding great, and I am sure they will improve once I get new carts on the TT. however, right now I am recording an entire album, so each cd just has one track, It doesnt recognize separate songs. Is there something in Audacity where I can "mark" between songs so I could skip to a certain track on a cd player? Just curious. Thanks, rich
  9. Yep, Detroit hated Hossa too, till they got him. It has been a great series so far, and I too, will be sad to see it end, either way, I just love hockey. that being said. GO PENGUINS !!
  10. To all that have replied, thanks for the info. I was toying with the idea since I saw a pair of cabinets on the Denver CL, but due to cost, the smallness of my apt , and having a place to work on them, I dont think I am going to try it. The cabs look pretty beat up. I was going to post the link, but it is gone. Again, thanks for the info.
  11. Just curious, but if a guy were to buy to empty LaScala cabinets, how much would it cost to buy all the drivers /electronics to fill them?
  12. Glad you are enjoying the beer. I am certainly ejoying the TT. I ordered two headshells for it the other day, that way I can play with the carts that I have. ran into a problem with my camera over the weekend, but I will get some pics as soon as I can. Thanks again Kevin, you rock !!
  13. That is nuts. I am no expert, but I would like to hear other peoples opinions on this.
  14. I checked out a few yard sales today, nada. Went to the vinyl shop and got 5 lps for $17, and they are in great shape. SOund awesome. Now I just need to shop for a new headshell.
  15. It looks great ! Two things, can you run the wire thru the wall and have it come out the vent? Dude! that thing is so beefy, it looks like you could put a LaScala up there.
  16. Did you get the beast mounted to the wall yet?
  17. I am totally enjoying the vinyl and the best part is that there is a used vinyl store 2 blocks from my place. Dennie, I agree this place does seem more like family, however, there is much less bickering here over equipment and such. Since I put the raquet balls under the TT, and with the increased weight of this new TT, I have hung up my ballet slippers, thankfully.
  18. The quality is pretty good, and I expect it to get better once I get a new headshell and mount a newer cart on it. It has the original cart on it now, pretty old.
  19. That thing is a beast. Nice woodworking job. I am jealous, and looking forward to the finished product. How long did it take you to build it?
  20. I agree with willand. you already have the front speakers. Go with the Heritage line. I am in Denver, and there have been a bunch of great deals on the KG series on Craigs List. Welcome to the forum. Where are you in CO?
  21. I had posted a while back asking about advice in getting a turntable. Flatgrass ( Kevin) pm'd me stating that he had a Pioneer PL-41 that he would let me have for the cost of shipping ( Washington DC to Denver, CO). I said sure, that would be great. Kevin packed up the turntable in three different boxes and sent them out. Everything came thru undamaged(he packed this stuff up like it was Fort Knox). I am now the proud owner of a beautiful TT, and when I e mailed him to see how much everything was He just said that he wanted enough $ for a 12 pack and some beef jerky. This is just another great example of the fine people on this site. I hope to someday be in the position to "pay it forward" so to speak and help out a fellow member. Just wanted to share this story. And say thanks to Kevin, and those of you that have helped me out in the past.
  22. The ART IS your soundcard in this instance. Go into the preferences menu (Ctrl-P) and look at the settings under the audio I/O tab. Make sure the record in stereo box is checked. Bruce Bruce, I will check that next time I am home, but I am pretty sure I have already tried that. I will let you know. Rich Bruce, I finally got a chance to play with it and that was exactly what was wrong. Thanks for your help. Rich
