Pete............where did we go wrong raising that boy?

Stop already, I'm going to get an external DAC, but I'm also going to get a laptop that performs.  I told you I wasn't purchasing any external DAC until I get a chance to hear a few at SWAG.  The dragonfly (which I had never even seen one) looks perfect for the laptop when I travel.

OK, then why would you use the laptop DAC if you have an external DAC?

When on the road with the laptop and headphones.  I'm totally onboard with an external for the laptop at home, but I'm not taking all of that with me.

The sound card isn't used as the lap top dac?  I guess I never thought that the sound card had any function other than maybe being a digital pass through when streaming.

I would imagine it has to.  If it's pushing a signal out to a 3.5mm headphone jack.

So you're not using a DAC?

    Will be yes.

    Some folks don't listen Carl.

No, some folks don't read. lol The question remains, does anyone know of a laptop that has a very good built in sound card.  I just don't accept that no manufacturer incorporates a great sound card in any laptop.  We've discussed this and thinking that maybe someone out there had an answer, I thought I would throw it out here to see.

  5. I've got to replace my laptop.  It's been a great machine, but it's time to go.  I've been trying to find something that has a really good built in sound card and it's become frustrating because I can't seem to find specs.  This is the piece that I will use to stream music when I'm downstairs, in the shop etc.  The same machine will have REW, mini dsp interface, and other audio related items and software, so that's it's primary function.  Does anyone have any insight on this?  I should mention that I'm strictly a PC guy and that's not changing as I will still have MS office that will be utilized on the machine.

The Harrahs Cherokee Casino is a little bit south of where I'm looking but a casino trip has forever been out of my tax bracket!

Just south of the Nantahala I'm wondering about a bear on the porch when I go out groggy with my first coffee.

If you've never eaten rabbit you just don't know that cooked right... just like any game meat it can be very tasty!

If you go into Asheville, you might be surprised what you attract.  I went there a couple years ago and wow, has that place changed from 15 years ago.

My daughter can't eat pizza without dipping it in Ranch dressing.  I don't know how I failed while raising her.

That makes my stomach rumble just thinking about that.  Growing up in N.E. Pennsylvania, I pretty much stick to cheese, pepperoni and occasionally, some spicy sausage and banana peppers. Unfortunately, it's an extreme rarity to find any places around me that seem to know what good pizza is and if you're looking to go get a slice or two, forget about it.

Call me a few days ahead of time, we're in the middle of moving and a massive renovation project.  270-556-8427.  If there is any gear anybody wants to hear at the gathering, just buy it while you're here and swing back through on the way home and I'll refund it if it's in perfect condition.

I will let you know as the final plan comes into focus.  Thanks!

Midnight to 4 AM.  These stupid things NEVER hit during daylight hours.

I think your high tide is right around 4AM and your warnings read like a book.

    Winds now are 125 sustained.

Expected to further increase and looking at the tide charts, may not hit at the best time either.

Always, you have to be or your crazy, over a certain point and were not going to be here, you can't save anything by staying. You can replace your junk.

That's for sure.  I hate it for all of you that might be in the path.  Been there, done that and it sucks, but there's trade offs no matter where you live.  Be safe.

We may end up at my daughters house in Conroe.  Shoud be marginally better there.  If it was cat 1 we'd stay but not for a direct hit from a 3 or over.  We'll decide in the next 24 hours.

When I was on the coast of S.C. we chose based on the same basic criteria.  3 or over projected, we were gone.

I just looked up Rita's path.  This looks like it's going to hit in the exact same spot.

Might be a good time for a road trip to Ohio.  I know you're prepared, but are you prepared to leave?

The wife will be leaving on Friday for about week.  What would you do (hookers and blow are not an option as the kids will still be here)?  I have some ideas, they involve speakers, amps, turntables, and multiple rooms.

When the wife is away, I typically add some new gear to the mix, or move really big speakers into the living room that she hasn't given the thumbs up on .
