  1. Thanks for the info but what do you mean by BI? What is your take on the claim that IMD is the most noticeable kind of distortion? I am suspicious because it may have just been a claim to make "cone and dome" speakers out to be worse than they actually are, to the advantage of marketing horn speakers.
  2. Interesting. I never heard that word "yanky" so I wouldn't have known what to do except say "What do you mean?"
  3. That's interesting. I didn't know there was such a fine sense of appreciation for exact specific models and variations shall we say.
  4. What a depressing story. Well they say money doesn't buy happiness just a lot of junk. The good thing is that most walls are made out of drywall they call it. You can easily put in a piece about the size of the hole, put some drywall tape around it to hold it in place, then slap some "mud" on it, sand it, and it'll be good as new. Unless they want to scrape the whole house like he did with his car just because there was some blood in it.
  5. That's a pretty good trick!!! How did you do it? Let's try again to make sure you weren't just lucky. Identify this Klipsch speaker:
  6. I would have restored your Thorens instead but that 's just me. Still, it would have saved you buying this because you'll want to sell it after you restore your Thorens. Unless you take 5 years to get around to it . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
  7. I don't know there is being patient (patience is a virtue) and just being ssssssssloooooooooooooow (which is not). My motto is don't take forever or you'll be dead by then.
  8. The funny thing is that people are impatient and want things NOW! So someone from the east coast buys speakers from the left coast and vice versa and if they had only waited, what 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, et cetera they could have purchased what they were looking for locally. I would never trust buying a heavy speaker through "the mail" (including UPS FED EX wHaTeVeR) I like to "kick" the merchandise and pick it up when paying CASH $$$$.
  9. Sorry but I never hardly go to Chicago. Otherwise you'd be in my good man!!!!!!!
  10. Laugh Out Loud!!! [] [] Good one MIke.
  11. You have a strange way of making friends. Really trying to fit in here eh? I have so many friends I can't remember all their names. I sometimes mention Klipschheads at the poker game since it's always good for a laugh.
  12. A normal person would learn how to grade a record, list what he has, and set a price. A person craving attention would say he's going to throw all the records in the dumpster unless people buy them.
  13. I read it in maybe 1991? Sometime around then.
  14. A majority of voters just elected a guy President with no executive experience and whose only qualificitions are academic degrees at elite schools. Sorry, no transcripts, we'll just have to take his word on that. Sounds like a majority of voters are just fine with elitism.
  15. Talk about milking a thread!!! Wasn't this why the Garage Sale forum was created?
  16. If it were just a matter of losing very high frequency hearing, no big deal usually. There are many other ways in which hearing can be damaged though. That is what worries me and keeps me awake at night.
  17. I really don't see how this would be possible.
  18. What you are claiming sounds reasonable but you provide no data to support it. The fact is, the little BBC monitor must have a lot of IM Distortion to it if we are to accept PWK's DATA, not speculation. The fact is, the LS 3/5a is a very very highly regarded speaker with many web pages run by fans of it that I have discovered and looked at last night. High IMD but highly regarded. I want to hear from a learned engineer such as Doctor Who rather than read unscientific musings from the uncredentialed.
  19. BEATLES records are SO RARE you may never have another chance to buy it. You must be ultra ultra upset.
  20. I'd have bought them if they had stayed around $30 and the shipping hadn't been so high ($60).
  21. I love this picture. It is like the famous Maxell ad but with a more audiophile listener.
  22. There is no way even Coyote could hold a Jubilee like that in his hands. Advantage: LS 3/5a.
