  1. Thanks Tinnitus! Here is a shot of another repair job we did on the side. I cut a piece of veneer and lightly sanded it in to blend. I've had these speakers for so long now, I forgot it was there. I'm having second thoughts about selling them, but they are primarily used for home theater, and they never truly fit in my set up.
  2. Up for sale are these very loved 1978 Heresy speakers with sequential serial numbers (57S637 and 57S638) in an oiled walnut finish. They look and sound great. Please look at the photographs as these speakers are 45 years old but are in very good used condition. I am the 2nd owner, the original owner’s son gave them to me but did damage the top of one speaker, I have repaired that damage. Speakers upgraded with 5-way binding posts and new caps purchased from Bob Crites. Bob worked at the Klipsch factory and told me that these speakers were the 637th and 638th off the line in 1978. Local Pick-Up only in Los Angeles (Northridge) https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/261489763062351/ I am also selling a Klipsch Academy speaker I used as a center channel with these Heresy’s. The Academy has an upgraded “K-Stacked” crossover. They sound awesome together. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/206498081753463/ I also have two custom 24” Lovan Speaker Stands that fit the Heresy’s. They are filled with buckshot and have spikes to couple them on the floor and add height and bass. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/574049544858980/
  3. I looked into Salamander but the cost was a bit much for me. My unit ended up at $800. It's all hard wood (poplar). The bottom door is perforated steel like on the Salamander Design units. The back of the bottom is open for easy wire connection and breathing. The Emotiva does run cool but the Yamaha's a different story.
  4. I had one made. I searched for some time. The other difficult problem was the depth of the Emotiva Amp. Pretty happy with it. If you live in SoCal the cabinet maker who helped me out was a pleasure to work with and very talented.
  5. Bill as the owner of the set up you referenced on page one I must say that the drawing you did above with the La Scala's and the Heritage center looks awesome. I hope to one day get a pair of La Scala's.
  6. I have a Yamaha Receiver and utilize the Presence setting. I use RB-10's as the sound from the Presence Mode is very faint. Personally I love this setting. It opens up the front sound stage very much. It also has an additional feature that allows the dialogue from the center to faintly come from the presence speakers. This helps hide or make the center more difficult to localize. My feeling is don't knock it till you've tried it.
  7. Thanks. The speaker wire is Canare Star Quad wrapped with TechFlex. The bass is good even though the room opens up to a dining room and kitchen. I played around with the placement and the corner worked out. For me I wanted a compromise between aesthetics and acoustics.
  8. The Sweet Spot. Hope you enjoy. I certainly do.
  9. Rear Shot. The Surrounds are not Klipsch. I haven't figured out yet if the RS-42's will fit correctly as they will hang much lower. The front Presence speakers are from the reference line so I want the rest of the ambiance speakers to have similar drivers. I had a 7.1 set up in the past. To my taste the sound from center rears leaves me wanting more. I am very happy with 5.1 surround with sound sprayers.
  10. From the left. I have lights attached under the top shelf.
  11. NOTE: NO CABLES SHOWING! I put Heresy style grill cloth and badge on the K-Stacked Academy to keep things consistent. I also refinished a black oak Academy to match the finish of the Walnut Heresys. Here is the thread if interested. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/118154/1191722.aspx#1191722
  12. I am a stickler for clean lines and NO CABLES SHOWING! I do my best to keep things looking clean. In an open air entertainment stand (that I designed and built) it's hard to hide all the wires. I think I did alright. The speaker cables I built and the interconnects are custom lengths from Blue Jeans.
  13. I have recapped and refinished my Heresy I's. I custom made the stands. They sound amazing off the ground. The bass does diminish a bit but to me it's worth the trade off. Also, I have a nice tight Sub.
  14. I have been off of the Forums for a bit enjoying the fruits of my labor. Here is my mostly Klipsch Home Theater system. I have a 5.1 set up with 2 extra front speakers. I utilize the Yamaha Presence sound field. I know many purist do not like or agree with this option. I can only say that I love it. It adds a much larger sound field toward the front screen and the dialogue lift definitely helps with localization of the center channel. Or should I say lack of localization.
  15. I just ugraded my center and added a couple tweaks and I find myself watching almost any action movie on cable even for 10 minutes. I have a K-Stack coming next week so I think I'll be at this for a while. However, I'd skip the flick for a good afternoon of fishing...
  16. I guess he washes that ride with Murphys Soap and polishes it with Old English Lemon Oil...
  17. Hello Kiltman, I spruced up my Academy and took some pics. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/118154/1191732.aspx#1191732 It wasn't that hard. The veneer was much thinner than my Heresys but still workable. I also found a stain that matched up well with Walnut Oil. Not too sure about Oak Oil but some testing on the bottom will show the way. Hope this helps.
  18. I've been a Yamaha guy for years. Very happy. The DSP modes that many feel are too artificial are pretty cool.
  19. That's a pretty nice set up for a bedroom. I would have opted for a Simmons but that's just me.
  20. Is that Techflex? Where did you get that? It's really cool.
  21. I use direct speakers with the Yamaha. Their is barely any sound that comes out. You could use Quintets and be fine. I don't know what the Dolby set up will require.
  22. I utilize my Presence Channel on my Yamaha receiver. At first I didn't notice anything. I had to get up on a chair to see if anything was coming out. The sound is very faint and for HT they play the score and wide sound effects. Large speakers would be over kill. I have had Yamaha Receivers for 10 years and I'm happy with them although I am using an external amp and have an Emotiva on order. I really notice the Presence speakers when I turn them off. The sound immediately collapses down to the floor. Since they are only used with in Yamaha's DSP modes it does not color straight Dolby Digital. And you can tweak the settings. One setting is called Dialogue lift. It sends a bit of information from the center to faintly come out of the Presence Speakers. I have my center under my TV and sometimes I can tell the sound is coming from under the tv and not from the screen. This helped. It did make the sound stage feel taller and wider in the front. This is of course my experience and I do not utilize the DSP settings always but being use to them I kind of "miss them" when not used. If you haven't heard it it's worth a listen but it took me a while to appreciate them.
