  1. Never trust a Sicilian, when DEATH is on the line ...
  2. i think you're just paranoid/looking for something that isn't there. sort by "newest first" end everything shows up fine. I'd chalk it up to one of the many forum quirks..
  3. nice! there was a full 7.1 RF-3 setup on CL as well for $500 ..didn't last long.
  4. Thanks for using your "jump to conclusion mat" and assuming we're like other forums.
  5. i'd like to kiss the feet of the team behind Audyssey calibration ..it's not perfect, but for me it's good enough.
  6. Welcome! I'm up in McKinney; north texas is starting to gain traction on the forum...
  7. so why not just go LCR (and maybe sub?) and forego the surround sound? If the floorplan and WAF don't make surround speakers feasbile, don't force it. save the money and invest in amps/blu-rays/whatev.
  8. us too ..so dispense with the box pics and show it to us installed.
  9. my LCR system blows the panny's off of chicks. common thread among klipsch, i'm sure.
  10. also ..dont get too hung up on web reviews.i had a meltdown reading every review and forum post for the models in my price range. I ended up picking the plasma in my sig, in spite of some chronic buzzing issues and flawed 'cinesmooth' 24fps implementation. I had the buzz, but unlike most people who experienced and sent it back within a week, i toughed it out and either a) grew numb or it went away.
  11. absolutely. further to that point, try and buy from amazon.. i bought my 50" plasma from amazon in december of last year, great price off retail - no tax - ordered on a thursday night and had it in my house that Sunday.
  12. Plasma is not out ..it's just not being pimped at the stores. DLP was out 2 years ago and you managed to be happy with it .. if your focus is more on movies and retaining a bit of cinematic quality - stick with plasma. if your focus is more on sports, animation, gaming - go with LED LCD. plasma is not out.. (did i already say that?)
  13. I LIVE NORTH OF DALLAS, TEXAS. and this kid had his mind made up before ever stepping foot in the forum..
  14. Never hurts to try. You might be surprised. I have no need to "upgrade" to the slim. The fat one sends the PCM to my receiver already decoded. I get all of the HD Audio, I just don't see the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-Master light on my receiver (no biggie). The "fattie" is still a great unit for anyone to buy. it has nothing to do with the logo.. by sending via pcm and the associated software encoding/processing cycles, you are forcing the ps3 to work harder. if your avr is setup to process that raw bitstream, why not let it? it's no different than getting an external amp in order to offload some of the power requirements from the avr.
  15. M u s t r e s i s t t e m p t a t i o n.................................................. I'll bet you're a hell of a public speaker. (dang, couldn't resist.) Maybe THIS will help. nah, no desire to be a politician .. badumching.
  16. the slim does not have an integrated power supply anymore, and as such utlizes the smaller electronics plug (like cable boxes). just an fyi.. what were the details provided by emotiva to confirm our theory?
  17. btw ..i was talking out of my ***. I can't actually find any current online content to say one way or the other (everything is around 2008 or older). I know that support for the latest HD formats was one of the big selling points of the slim, but that doesn't mean support by the fat model wasn't quietly downplayed to increase sales.
  18. the original ps3 supports bitstream, yes ..but not the latest Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master formats. thats an hdmi 1.3 requirement, which didnt show up until the ps3 slims.
  19. not unreasonable at all. however, i've yet to find someone who wasn't willing to meet me at a starbucks in the middle - regardless of the item size.
  20. there's two pair of 5's that popped up in dallas just today for $600 and $750. Go figure..
  21. i wouldnt go with either option ..i would go with a used pair of RF-3/II's and a decent amp ..realize how valuable the investment was and then save some more money to fill in the blanks.
  22. I'd like to hear the "corporate line" on the Reference series evolution.... I can totally understand Klipsch bringing back an energized RF-7 based HT, but am really surprised that Jay seems to be the only one talking about it. -1 for being on-topic...
  23. VVVVVVVRRRRROOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM (the sound of information entering one ear and travelling directly out the the other)
