  1. so, i ended up with 20 male IEC sockets and only need a handful. If anyone would like a few, shoot me a PM and we can arrange shipment.
  2. religion, sexuality, political, or other personal beliefs..i consider these things to be part of one's personal life, regardless of how publicly known they may be or their effect on the artist's creations. I don't condone a whole lot of actions or ideas in this world, but I also don't condemn those people who believe differently than me. people are unique, and every one of them has something to offer ..even you neo33. so i should be paying attention and seeing what I can learn, experience, and enjoy from this vast world around me. my core beliefs are unwavering, but that doesn't mean i am inflexible or unable to change and grow as a person. to the contrary, but knowing what my core beliefs are, i am allowing myself a great deal of freedom to explore and interact with the world around me ..while at the same time not betraying anything i have deemed to be important. i don't have a problem with you not liking cat stevens ..many people are in the same boat as you and for various reasons. I have a problem with you not really having any reason (or at least the strong enough conviction to state your reasons) and your general lack of consistency. my suggestion: cut to the chase and let tell us what you feel so strongly about, or shut up and see if maybe you can enjoy the man's art in spite of the fact you don't agree with some of his choices.
  3. so you are capable of separating an artist's personal life from his art ...
  4. are you familiar with rob zombie, marylin manson, rage against the machine, deftones, rammstein ... ? less than perfect ideologies/personal lives, yet i'm sure you grit your teeth and manage to enjoy your matrix trilogy in spite of their presence on the soundtracks.
  5. heh .sorry for letting my internet lexicon bleed over. thank you for clarying what I've found to be conflicting information re: Belle's vs. La Scala's
  6. derp, had my facts wrong, thanks for the correction Indy. what is the belle meant for?
  7. No worries. Believe me, I can empathize. (several can actually) .. just know that it works out well if you're willing to stay the course and be a pleasant person to work with. recent amp woes
  8. btw ..you can call klipsch and probably get it working again for less than buying a new sub.
  9. i don't think those speakers have amps built into them [*-)] ..every electronics line known to man has a failure rate and you happen to be one of the failure percentage.
  10. you'll be hard pressed to find a current receiver that doesn't come 7.1 standard (doesn't mean you have to use all 7 channels). From what I've read, a single Klipsch Belle would be the way to go for your center speaker. Search around the forum for what AVR's match up best with the Heritage gear you have.
  11. Ironic statements, given the list of characters on the Matrix soundtracks (and all that they stand for). The Matrix 1. Rock Is Dead - Marilyn Manson, Marilyn Mason Listen 2. Spybreak - Propellerheads Listen 3. Bad Blood - Ministry Listen 4. Clubbed to Death [Kurayamino Mix] - Rob D. Listen 5. Prime Audio Soup - Meat Beat Manifesto Listen 6. Leave You Far Behind - Lunatic Calm Listen 7. Mindfields - The Prodigy Listen 8. Dragula [Hot Rod Herman Remix] - Rob Zombie Listen 9. My Own Summer (Shove It) - Deftones Listen 10. Ultrasonic Sound - Hive Listen 11. Look to Your Orb for the Warning - Monster Magnet Listen 12. Hast - Rammstein 13. Wake Up - Rage Against the Machine
  12. i can come sit on it for you, to test and see if adding a weight will fix the issue.
  13. Also, watch Craigslist (if you're not opposed to used). I picked up a 3 yr old "$2000 top of marantz's line at the time" for $500 bucks. Doesn't support the latest trueHD audio formats (neither does my non-slim ps3), but otherwise it's a dream. I managed to trade a laptop i wasn't really using, so no money out of pocket.
  14. awesome! big motivator to get my amp converted over
  15. what you describe is bi-amping, and you probably won't notice much benefit.
  16. ..good thing you know a guy who knows a guy..
  17. bump me to the end for now. my carver has an integrated plug and i'm still waiting for the parts to arrive and the time to convert to IEC.
  18. you should be ok. My sub has a separate amp and rear panel (amp is on the bottom), where yours, i believe, has everything integrated into the same plate. I didn't use the replacement cord or display provided and everything seems to be ok. The only reason I would suggest strongarming for the display/cable would be in case you have issues with those items in the future ..it's nice to have readily available spares. I was out of warranty and worked directly with klipsch, so I'm not sure how/if the scenario changes when working with a dealer under warranty repair.
  19. kg 3.5's, to me, were too harsh for even surround usage. lacking of midrange like mentioned earlier and just really shrill at loud levels. rf-5's a great choice for mains, and rf-7's are even better. size be damned! go for what sounds good ..
  20. So I've had my rt-10d functioning for a week now and I think I can adequately comment on it... It kicks ***. The rw-12 is no slouch, but I was always able to isolate sub-hz in the room, may have been how I set it up or just the sub itself. The RT blends beautifully in my system and even with my paranoid "i know where you are" glances, I cannot for the life of me say "i hear that bass coming from the rear left corner of the room". It's smaller than the rw-12 which means I was able to get it placed in the one corner my room has, and it aides immensely. setup was not a breeze, but it certainly was easy for the results I'm getting (had to run audyssey 4 times before it finally set things up right). it matches great with the rf-5's and rc-7 and to top things off ...it rattles the walls in the entire house. well worth buying, new or used. well worth the hassle of getting it. well worth the $200 to fix it. michael ray is a happy camper (and set to enjoy his HT for at least the whole of 2010)
  21. It hurts him it does. Seriously, their new surroundings are nicer than their old surroundings. I've seen the pics! oh quit [:$]
  22. Uh, young (nope) hip (nope) 20 somethings (nope, I'd be 2 and 1/2 of those). I'm not comfortable at a party unless there's at least a walker or two. still too soon before you can see your babies in their new surroundings?
