  1. Here is something to think about. The 4806 weights 52.5 lbs and the 4810 42.2 lbs. the 3808 39.8 lbs and the 4310 38.5lbs. I would think that came out of the power supply transformers. That is what happens when you sell to a price point but it would still make a great preamp. On that point I think that the Sunfire pre sounds better than the Denon but can't keep up with the features of the Denon.
  2. It looks like you have a good souning system. I have ran many Denon setups. The first was a AVP8000 with the 3 channel and 2 channel power amps. That had good punch with a solid bottom end, but I have found that receivers in general lacks some punch on the bottom end. My son runs a Denon 2307 with RF7's and it sounded good, but then I let him use my old Carver M500T power amp the bass tighted up with more punch. I'm running Cornwalls with a Denon 3808 and it sounded good, but when I hooked up my Sunfire Signature 7x400 watt power amp. Lets just say it transformed the sound. Better mid lower bass. It also had more detail, more musical sounding, it was just more musical sounding. A receiver just can't hold up to a good power amp and yes my power amp cost more than a 4810 but I think it's woth it. A power amp you can keep 10 or 20 years or more and you change out the preamp every 3 to 5 years that why I would like to see a prepro from Denon based on the 4810 or 5810 the will be out later I'm sure. I would love to hear your system I bet it sounds great. I want to hear 9.1 or 11.1 system. Nice system
  3. Yes Yes, run the Audssey EQ and run Dynamic EQ and Volume EQ. That was a upgrade on the 3808 and standard on the 4310, but I don't have width or height speakers. I didn't think it was worth over $1000.00 in my room going to the 4310. Plus the 4310 has 10 more watts, but I ues a power amp so that was no big thing. I picked up my 3808 the week that the 4310 was released so I got the for $900.00 with $100.00 Audssey upgrade for free. My room is narrow with only 7.5 foot ceiling so I didn't think it was much use to me. What we need is a nid priced Denon preamp with the 4810 with out the power amps. I don't want to send $7500.00 on there preamp they have now. I run 7.1 with the rear channels and it sounds great with music ans Dolby PLIIx from stereo or from 5.1.
  4. When I had the crossover set at 40hz there was a 6db dip at 40hz. When I change to 60hz the dip moved to 60, but it did sound better. So I left my main at 60hz and changed the center to 40hz and the dip at 60hz was cut in half or more. It sounds great like that, but you have to go with what sounds good. Have you hooked it to the net yet? keep up on the up dates, one comes out every 4 to 5 weeks, plus you can check out net radio. a lot of them sound bad but some are very good. I like Net Radio Blues. Do you use Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume? I use both and and set Dynamic Volume to day and keep it there. On the 3800 I can see you waiting, your wallet is thin from buying the 4810. I have benn builing my Home Theater since 1984 and have up graded many times. Do what you can when you can. I started with 4.0 in the pre prologic days.
  5. Thanks, whats a CornScala II ? Did you build a new cabint of mount the new horn lens in a Cornwall? What lens did you use?
  6. Does any one have La Scala, Belle or CornScala's in Colorado that I can listen to. I'm looking to see if I want to up grade to CornScala's from Cornwall's. Hey you can check my setup. I'm in Colorado Springs. Bob
  7. I don't have a 4810 but I do have a 3808. Great sound. most features are the same. You have the new 9.1 set though that could be fun. Make sure that you run 6 positions with the Audyssey. Audyssey sets my cross overs at 40hz for my Cornwall's, but there is a dip at the cross over point so I set my center at 60 hz. If you set all at 60 hz there is a dip at 60 hz so I only change the center. I also don't like the Phono section, it's a little thin so I use a different one. It's a great sounding unit once you get it setup. I use to use the Panasonic 35 but pick up a DVD3800BDCI for $579.00 at ListenUp audio, there on line also and still have it. It was a great up grade for both picture and audio. I moved the BD35 to the bedroom.
  8. Ordered 3 CT125 tweeters and cross over parts today. If I like the CT125's I will buy the for my 4 Heresy's so all 7 speakers voice the same.
  9. Thanks GotHover This meter has been stitting in my shop for years. I use to use it for 1k speaker match in the 80' and 90' for a 5.0 setup. I always used a tone gen and spectrum analyzer, but I no long have use of them. I no longer work there. Even with that the dips and peaks are still there not as big. I have a lot of time but not money at the moment so I will try some things for the lows.
  10. The floor is carpeted concerte, so that's not helping. I also have the left side Corn 1 in. from the side wall. I do have Sonex that wall, but that is not helping at 400hz. I have been looking at Bob's tweeters, but I need 7 "ouch". or 3 for the fronts. That peak at 8k needs to be looked at first.
  11. Sorry I was running stereo with RSW15 sub
  12. I was just sweeping my room after making some changes to the room. I don't like what I saw. I should have done this years ago but was working to much and now I have time. I used Stereophile test disk #3 and a Radio Shack SPL meter. This would be my 84 Cornwalls, a dip of 11db at 400hz and a peak of 12db at 6.3k and it falls off fast after 10k. It's 21db down at 16k. It also has a peak of 14db at 25hz, but that is the room. So I need to make some changes
  13. That has nothing to do with the HDMI cable, but component cable. They don't you coping a disk. HDMI output is the only one with the hand shake. When they do up date the HDMI code, the older ones still works and has nothing to do with the cable. If you want the want to up date you have to buy a new player, receiver and TV but not the a new cable. They did one up date on the cable early on, but the old one will still work unless your in a high RF area. Most homes are not in a high RF area unless your under tramitter towers. They have been trying to put a stop to analog HD for 5-7 years now. It was a matter of time and if yor running HDMI your good. you need HDMI for 1080P anyway. Cat6 will work, but as I said before you slow down your video and can add video artifacts. I've run many different types of audio and video converters and some are good and some are not. I have run a $2000 video converter that made the video soft and had motion artifacts. So I don't like to use them if I don't have to. Yes it's only 1 and 0's, but how many are lost or changed in translation. A conveter is a fall back not a first choice.
  14. 38 dollors for a 40ft HDMI sounds to cheap. It may be fine, but. I don't know how monoprice is made but BGC has been tested and certified and is made with Belden cable and thats good for me. I have a 15' BGC F2 and it's nothing but quality.
  15. If I were you I would put in a cat6 and a 22g HDMI. Why? When you convert the video to your projector you slow it down, so now it can lag to your audio. It may not happen on every thing but if the sorce is all ready close to being out of sync you can put out. I fought this in the tv station. Things are coming in all the time with different lip sync so why slow your video down. It's not so cut and dry. It's not the cable that is changing, but the HDMI conversion in the electronics. Always run a extra cat6 just in case, it's safer.
  16. You need 22g wire, check out Blue Jean cables.
  17. I started to check this out a few days ago through my new Denon. Some sound very bad, but some are very good. What is your favorite station? I havn't found a good Rock station yet, but I did find a great Blues station. the world net radio blues channel has a great mix with good audio. With the new receiver it's easy to use and I don't have to use my computer. It's good to get away from Dish music channel's. I think they are piss poor mix and with a buzz in the classic rock channel.
  18. I no longer use RG59 I will only use RG6, RG6 has a larger core and better insulation. I don't use RG6 for audio unless it's digital. I just made some RBG cables from my computer to my system that was RG6 quad shielded. I bought a spool of 420' for $10.00 when Sound Tracks north closed. I'm a Radio and TV station engineer and I make all my cables. I don't go for all that Monster Cable hype. I buy neutrik rca's and XLR's from Parts Express and use Belden, Canare or from Clark cable or Libety cable they are in town for me to pick up. If someone can solder and they buy good parts they can make there own cable and make the routing good.
  19. The only corner that I have is in the back of the room. I could put a few RCA's together to try it. I don't want to build a RCA that long if I don't have to. I will give that a try. I like having the sub in the front.
  20. Has any one try a false corner on a sub. I move my RSW15 out of the corner
  21. I just ran the Audyssey again on my Denon 3808. This time I set it for LEF and not LEF + MAIN. It setup my mains and center for large and a cross over of 40hz for main and center 60hz for the sides and 90hz for the rear. Both the sides and rears are Heresy's but the sides are on a wall and the backs are on a railing so open on the back. The sub never coms on with out 5.1 so I may rerun it for LFE + Main and see what happens. It sounds good but want to see what sounds better with my system and room.
  22. Audessy on my Denon3808 sets my Cornwalls to small. Plus I run it LFE + main.
  23. I think some folks like the bottom boost that the SVS gives. I like it flater it's way better for music. Great buy I would love a second RSW15, OK I don't need one but still 5 Crons and 2 RSW15's would sound great.
  24. Thanks for the info. I may have the parts or a friend that has some. I meet with old time audio and vidios engineers for lunch once a week, being a audio and video engineer myself. I was looking at a Jolida JD-9A Phono Preamp. Change out he new 12ax7's with some Mullards or sylvania's that I have in my shop. I'm using my Carver C4000 phono stage now, it has a very good MC phono stage and run that to a aux in on my Denon 3808. I pick up my new blue ray player today. I can't pass that up. a $2000 player new in the box for $579. The audio and video section are a big step up. The new model is coming out, the model has WiFi and this one you need a thumb drive for updates. Big deal the audio and video sections are the same. I'm looking forward to some loss less audio. So I have to wait on a Jolida JD-9A Phono Preamp or a Audio Research PH-3 but that is $1000 to $1500 used. Or I can just reneedle my old Audio Technica AT155LC/G, MM for $100 to $170 It's a godd sounding cartridge but will not hold a needle to a Denon 103. So I going to look for parts to see how the Denon phono section sounds.
