  1. By close listening point , I mean sitting withing 4 to 5 feet of the speakers . For my small room 16 by 15 , the close listening point I find best is by sitting with hands on at my volume dial on the amplifier. Maxxhorns and klipschorns wud be mission impossible for me to find around here in lahore . Tc dear . Enjoyed ur post
  2. Well Yeah I think bigger woofer does have a broader soundstage presentation but the bigger cabinet has more resonating surface too. And there may be more coloration of that . Maybe it adds to the timbre too. But for music at close distance , bookshelves neva disappointed me ( celestion 9s, fostex RM800, and pioneer SLH5 ) That's wot I'm talking about . They may all be superior to RF3s, but can't say of all klipsch otherwise. Maybe a pair of heresy would blow them all. But I can only assume .
  3. Now that kindda answer was wot I was expecting from u. That u work up a query so deeply that it gets results . Yes, fostex does beat klipsch ! Different sounds slightly. Imaging and musicality is better in bookshelves than any floor standers . I wonder how forte 2 stand up to a pair of fostex larger towers . Can u find out ,plz .

  5. Hey wuzzzer Sorry about those punctuation marks. I did type through my G1 T-mobile, and so in a haste I didn't know the havoc I created in the flow of tenses, for u readers Sorry Ah yes The fostex is more coherent . More focused and with a mid band second to none ! Klipsch rf3 mettles with the room acoustics too much That it becomes slightly boomier than fostex. At low volumes , though the klipsch sound becomes comparable to fosties. Anyways I'm gonna try to keep fostex rm800 for sure . As I think I cannot find a better And smaller speaker to reach its sound quality ! Wuzzer ur input is again appreciated ! Let me know more plz. I Hope to see lengthier replies from u tmw on this post. Tc
  6. I intend keeping em both but one can't fall in love with two at a stretch, lolz
  7. Hi all This is my 2nd post ,( the other one I wrote got lost somewhere) lolz Anyways The question is for u folks out there who have much better systems and experiences than me I have acquired temporarily , a set of fostex RM 800 speakers These r monitoring spkrs And these hv a 5.5 inch driver with a ribbon tweeter on it ( single driver ) I played it thru my marantz 2230 and was amazed simply The sound became more musical than my RF3 s And it got squeezed into a narrower yet clear and discriminate soundstage as opposed to a bigger The diffuser and broader stage of the towers The rumble of the lows is lacking But that's just obviously understandable given the size of the driver and box I hv fallen in love with this speaker Wot do u guys hv to say As I wanna keep it as my bed room speaker But it will cost me 330 dollars Approx I paid around $400 for RF3s they r a different league Yet they rarely satisfied me in music to date ! I hv liked the tighter imaging and straight forward tight bass of these fosties And hv been listening to these for a couple of days now to these without Having the need to switch to klipsch for music Are they a better than klipsch speakers Or is it just my room that accomodates bookshelves better than Floorstanders I listen to low to medium vol levels Plz enlighten
  8. hey klf 40 where r u everyone just seems to run away after a single or at most 2 replies to a particular forum wot the hell lolz
  9. "a bit too bright " this was meant for the SB3s and the tubes (ART AUDIO MAESTRO ) the marantz is warm and thrilling plenty of low end even with 30 watts so dont think ur going wrong those klipsch r 98 dbs they need a few watts only to shake ur roof and i have loved the look of those vintage 1060 marantzes wish id find one somedayy
  10. o boy what a combination i am proud owner of a marantz 2230 30 watts ,of high current drive horse power the klipsch wants only second to tubes i hv run art audio 100 watts tube mono blocks with a pair of klipsch bookshelf sb 3s very well controlled even at devastating volumes though not amazing at all but as i connected my 2230 (purchased 5 days back or so ) with my RF3s everything was there the best sound i cud have so far warm, juicy, mellowy, velvetty sorry if u start feeling hunger pangs now lolz thought it might help stay posted a bit too bright
  11. that is very heartening to know that u didnt lose any of that sweetness i am now gonna look around the city to find those recommended jumpers wch the quad 303 AMP requires ,to be connected to this 2230 as pre amp i am thrilled to hear this news ,that marantz can work like pre amp without loss of its own nature and tone wot do the kg 4s sound like compared to some reference series speakers ? willand u have been post replying for quite a few times tell me ur experiences of these klipsches uv had im a huge virtual fan of fortes (never had one ) []
  12. Thanks man Really liked it ,ur consulting for the quads Well they sure r a great gear I am yet to have any recent amp that beats their sonic superiority Though their bass roll off is definitely there but it was more felt when klipsch were used With my celestion 9 bookshelves , quad is un beaten But marantz 2230 has that beautiful lows Hey , Mind if ud tell me something ,about that slight low end roll off of the quads U know they sound tighter and neater than ALL amps iv got ,including marantz But tight is not always prefered na U need a bit of rumble in the bass too;) Thats why they sound a bit poor on bass Nevertheless they r gr8 so how cud i gain some marantz like lows from quads I live in pakistan Those upgrades may be difficult here ,but not impossible I do have a gr8 technician who does these hi ranked amps and tubes too But i felt reluctant to mess with these genuine beasts ! And how do i make those cables ,plz elaborate too,if ur not tired of me ,lolz ! Am i rambling ,now ? Lolz Tc
  13. Great amp Hi there I dont know nothing about the cornwalls I know klipsch need mellower amps So i purchased a marantz 2230 in a v good condition It blew my mind I coupled it with my RF3s i have mated these towers with 5 different brand of amps Sony ta-av 570 victor axz 911, Sony old school tape deck 1982 (dads) And the much better one quad 303 and 33 . Power processor combo Of all these I was never happy with bass from these klipsches as u can see my desperation from my posts here Time n again iv been bullying my room or my amps But just 4 days ago i bought this jewel of an amp And there u are !!!! Everything is right there as i wanted ! Very mellow Sweet, rich and musical gear to go with any klipsch i guess. Cornwalls. Are far more superior in music than reference Guess that combo works gr8 for u Id wish to hear ur words as u play em an enjoy some gud music ! Tc
  14. Yeah i see those pre amp outs at the back, i was thinking of connecting the JVC axz 911 superfine digi, that i am running with my kenwoods downstairs for movies . Its got 90 watts per channel of power But wud that hamper with marantzs sonics ? I mean wot change wud this coupling bring! Wud it sound more like jvc or like the sweet ol marantz The other amp is the old Quad 303 Wch doesnot have those regular back panel switches and connectors , but it sounds awesome My question is how wud i couple quad 303. To the marantz 2230
  15. Somebody plz consider using vintage marantz for music ! U cant beat em perhaps with the small price u can get them for and the quality they present Newer amps ( digital) sound less musical than analogues of the old age Sorry if i sound like an old junky lover But reallly man , they beat up the new boys ,imho Im using a marantz 2230 with klipsch reference Akheer mahol !!!!!!
  16. Thanks dale All i can say after a two nights audition of the 2230 n rf3s is Wow !!! Musical, rich fruity and room filling bass full presentation at any volume levels Very happy and surprised at this purchase Its an immaculately conditioned set Very robust built Beautiful display Fully functional My klipsch had always had a good high and mid range end I wasnt happy with its lows I always insulted my room acoustics But this gear here ,2230, has it all working out gr8 The lows are mellow and beefy,no hangovers ,no booms And the highs and mids r very velvety and transparent Not painful at all Behold! Klipsch has been tamed !!!! Lolz But now
  17. Hi all Guess i posted in the wrong corner back then But here it is I got it I got the famous marantz 2230 I got it on a gr8 deal too Took it straight to my technician Who found nothing wrong with the set and gave it a dusting and some cloth wipe And boy the marantz as i read it and learnt from its reviews does sound musical and very very Beautiful I. Hv forgotten my more natura sounding quad amp For wot the marantz does is pure delight to ones senses Fuller richer sounding amp Next sounding quad amp For wot the marantz does is pure delight to ones senses Fuller richer sounding amp Next my plan is to hook em up to my RF3s tmw and se Wot it wud sound like i cant wait to do that tmw morning And its getting quite late and im still enjoying my victor headfones with the newby amplifier Id like to hear from u gentlemen out there Wot do u think it wud sound like with klipsches Plz enlighten ! my plan is to hook em up to my RF3s tmw and se Wot it wud sound like i cant wait to do that tmw morning And ts getting quite late and im still enjoying my victor headfones with the newby amplifier Id like to hear from u its getting quite late and im still enjoying my victor headfones with the newby amplifier Id like to hear from u gentlemen out there Wot do u think it wud sound like with klipsches Plz enlighten dr sherry RF 3s CELESTION 9 bookshelves QUAD 303 power amp, quad 33 pre amp combo
  18. yes but ,lolz its visceral as i walk mid way downstairs ,aah[]
  19. i changed positions keeping the RF3s 1.5 feet away from the rear walls the bass responce gets visceral as i go downstairs ,lolz, i mean mid ways down the stairs(the speakers are in the upper living room) but u know thats terrible,as i cant sit there to have the bass of my liking and no highs nor imaging as i wud be sitting way out of axis , and in the stairs too, lolz i figure klipsch are not meant to sound visceral ,they have a live taste
  20. swl have u used it dear let me know if u hv why do u think i shudnt be getting a newer amp is the vintage 2230 far warmer than any of the equally priced newer marantzees
  21. Hi there Anybody here have any experiences regarding the synergy between klipsch n marantz vintage Like ive been looking at a receiver here It says marantz 2230 And the guy says they dont make this good recievers anymore So i was wondering if i shud be getting it as an add on to my already Stuffed up midi junk I hv RF3s to couple it with and hv never been much happier with the bass responce of these klipsches ,sorry to say But they dont rumble like some jbls or kenwoods do I expect to get somewot mellowy sound from this marantz and klipsch synergy Wud like ur experiences and feedback plz Adios !
  22. wow they look cheesy hope ur gonna put in some high end drivers to beat some klipsch equivalents ,lolz hope to see more of ur efforts tc
  23. ski bum im glad someone has similar issues here lolz im now placing my speakers out in the living room wch is about 18x17 with high roof so far that sound has not emerged wch i have always dreamed from a speaker a sweet mellowy rounded and detailed one with a velvety highs and engaging lows im using a stupid amplifier out here for the living room its a sony TA-AV 570 PROLOGIC (wch throws 80 watts stereo ways) the cabling and interconnects all have been junk here my main focus was in my bedroom where i keep my goodies(good cables, better amp, quad i mean and better cd player) and yes dear im not playing great sources here too the klipsch are now suffering from mp3 playback, lolz that sure adds insult to injury u hv been right as bass does increase in corners ,but iv moved out of that as it compromises the sound the low notes muffle the delicacies and eat up the detail too im going to get a marantz 2230 vintage from the market lets see wot it does heard a few people good reviews on that old prince lolz
  24. try some tubes they burn down the harshness into warmth ....period i just cudnt afford the tube amp here ,thats y using only an old vintage amp that sounds very close to tubes
