  1. I am heading over to my dads, and since my Pros are still packed up from taking them to the warehouse earlier today.. I am going to take them with me. This will give me the chance to compare them again, and under better cercumstances, and with my sub, with his Kenwoods. His Kenwoods are about 4 years old, and cost him about 200 maby. THey have 10 or 12 inch woofers, a probobly 4 inch mid range, and a 2-3 inch Tweeter. I cant tell you for sure because, I cant get the damn cover off, which is driving me CRAZY!!!! Well, When I return I will tell you of my results. Here are some of my past comparisons. Although I didnt have the Pros there with me, I know what they sound like. I spend quite alot of time at Best Buy especialy in the Speaker section... listening to these 300-900 doller, ready to go 5.1 set ups. Sony, JBL, Yamaha.. ect. I have concluded that the Pro's preform better than the following sets. (IMO) This Sony System This JBL system This Yamaha System << these... I'm iffy on though. ANY set up from these guyz. Those are my findings, thank you. I've said it once, I'll say it again. KLIPSCH PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES!!! Market the Pro Medias, as a HT system also. Provide a better Pre Amp, with more inputs, jack up the price enough to cover that. If people saw a Klipsch 5.1 setup in the HT section of Best Buy, that had the appropriate hook ups, they would buy it, especialy after listening. Come on boyz! DONT let BOSE and JBL dominate the market in the low end HT set ups. Pros are simple and sound good. Thats what people want... ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  2. Glad to be of help. But its interesting.. both the RB-5's and the RF-3's will cost you 800 bucks. Wouldnt it make since to have the Smaller, less powerful Bookshelf speakers, cost less than the Larger floor standing speakers? Heres what I am thinking, if the RB-5's and the RF-3's cost the same where ever you are buying them, heres what I would do. I would buy the RF-3's unless you simply cant afford to take up that much room, or you just cant stand the look of them. It only makes sence to me if they cost the same to grab the bigger more powerful speakers. ** It slipped my mind when I was making my first reply. Well, I hope that helps you some. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  3. Paradigm Monitor Specs Look at the Monitor 11's and the Monitor 90p. Look at theyer drivers. On the Monitor 11's there are 3 6.5 inch Bass Drivers. On the Monitor 90p's there are 3 8 inch Subwoofer Drivers. The tweeter and Mid Range are the same size, they arnt important in this question, I dont believe. Why are they classified differently, and what do they do differnetly? 1 has 3 Bass Driver, the other has 3 Subwoofer Drivers. WHATS the difference? ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  4. .... First I would talk to others that have delt with him in the past, just to make sure he is for real. I have seen the stuff, but I'm not sure about the whole thing... Be careful if you decide to go that way. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  5. Thats a toughy. But for the most part the 2 are practicaly the same. The RB-5's are probobly what you want. Both have the same tweeter, and the same woofers. Just the RB-5's have 1 less woofer. With the RF-3's the Floor standing design helps with the Bass, which you said would be an acceptable loss since you have a 12 inch Sub. You may not have quite as strong mid rang sounds because there is only 1 woofer. You would have a more fuller sound with the RF-3's, but much sound quality shouldnt be lost. Also the Hi Cross over is lower on the RB-5's which seems to me ( I dont know alot about this ) would allow the Horn to produce more lower frequencies than the RF-3's, which in my opinion is a good thing, because I like the Klipsch Horn sound better than regular speakers. Thats my 2 cents, hope it was useful. Remember, these other guys probobly know more than I. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  6. I dont know as much as these other guys... But They arnt here yet. I would personaly say a Heresy.. It just seems to me the bigger Mid range and tweeters would give a better sound. I have heard a Klipsch Center.. it was large, might have been one of the 2 you are talking about but not sure. If it was, I would go with the Heresy. Hope that helped alittle. But these others guys will help you more. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  7. I'm hoping the New sub will be alot better at reproducing the sound. Heres a way to test the subs. Ask if you can do this first. You have the Pros and the Monsoons both hooked up. Unhook all the speakers. Then just the Subwoofer will be playing. I did this when I started hooking up my Pro's to test my Sub. Then switch between the two. Which ever one sounds best to you, buy that one. If its the Sub thats going to make the big difference. I recomend you using slow Classical music, with alot of Cello solo's and some Bass solos... or atleast where you can hear the 2 over the Violins and Violas. And a good recording is also recomended. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  8. thats good to know.. but are you sure? It does make me feel alittle better though. 9. I have a pair of Fisher STV 873's .. the tweeter on one has been replaced with a Realistic horn tweeter (i think its a horn) and the mid ranges have been replaced with REalistic speaker.. not sure of the size of any of the replacements.. they are read speakers. Well here is what I was thinking about buying to replace the Tweeters on both and the mid ranges on both with. These Tweeters This for the Mid Range Or possibly this mid range What do yall think?? I am curious as to whether or not I can buy Klipsch parts. I would realy like to get a pair of Klipsch Horn Tweeters, and Klipsch horn Mid ranges for them, if they are a reasonable price. Thanks. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  10. Ok the Story First. I went to work today to help my grandfather. He works in a warehouse and its a descent sized place... not a HUGE one though. I took along my Pro's and a Y Connector, and my Boom Box. I hooked the Frong and Rear to the Y connector, the Y connector into the Headphone jack and played some CD's Boy was it cool. The bass filled the place prety well. And the sound could be heard clearly and well from the other side of the warehouse. You could tell however that the Pro's fall alittle short in the mid range, but it wasnt bad. I must say I was impressed. Here's my question though. I am worried for my Klipsch. It was hot in the warehouse (we live in Dallas Texas) and, I had the Pro's going nearly for a straight 6 hours out there. When we got ready to go, I touched the back of the Sub and it was prety darn hot. I'm just curious.... Do you think it hurt them? I am venturing to say it was 80-90 degrees in the Warehouse. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  11. Once again.. it goes back to the Personal Taste. But I have a question. Have you ever heard a Pradigm Cinima Series set up? Or have you even heard of them at the time of buying your Quintets? I do not want you to regret making your purchase, I'm sure you are happy with your Quintets, and thats what matters. ** I have unfortionaly never heard a set up of the cornwalls.. They are one of the Klipsch speakers I would REALY like to hear. Along with the whole Heritage series excluding the Heresys since we have some in the house. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  12. Well.. At the time of buying my Pro Medias, last december... I hadnt even heard of the Monsoons... I'm not even sure if they were out yet. I have heard the Monsoons a few times since.. but I realy havent REALY listend to them... I'm sure they offer a better sound... but I did realy like the sound of the Pros. I like my music loud.. and the Pros Get louder. I will only have these for about another year.. Then I am going to return them, and upgrade to the 5.1's or maby something else will catch my fancy. My personal Preference is the Klipsch. Yours may be the Monsoons. Neither is wrong. I just wish the Pro's had a Mid Range Horn ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  13. Yes. You are right, it is personal preference. And I relize that High cost doesnt equal a better product. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  14. Where can I buy Klipsch replacement parts? I am looking for the cheapest Klipsch Horn loaded Tweeters and Mid Range's to put on my old Fisher speakers to they are actualy some descent speakers. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  15. Good luck with your Heresys We have a pair of the Origional Heresys in the living room. So i'm guessing you are more than pleased. They are some good speakers. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  16. Heres my bit. I am a big fan of Horn loaded speakers.. especialy Klipsch Horn Loaded speakers. Thats why if I buy Klipsch it has to be a Heritage series, the Reference and Synergy just wont cut it. I need the High and Mid range horns. We have a pair of the Origional Heresys in the living room, and I would take those bad boyz over a pair of RF-3's any day. You may think I am weird.. but I just like the way they sound... Klipsch is Horns. Horns beat regular speakers. If Klipsch starts putting out speakers with out the horns... I'd buy Paradigm or B&W if I wanted that. But I dont, and will buy the older Klipsch products. Thats all I have to say. Hope I have made some point, or backed up others. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  17. HEhe. I'd write what I think.. but I just wrote a topic concerning stuff like this... Heck.. i'll tell you Any way. It cost more, thats why we dont do it. QUintets = 900$ thats 500$ more than the Pro Media 5.1, thats over Twice as much. And you still havent bought the Reciever/Amp. NE wayz, if I went with a setup like that, I would buy the Paradigm Cinima.. smoother sound. But it makes more since to build your own 5.1 setup with 4 SB 1's for 500$ a SC-1 for 280$ and a Sub from Best buy for 150$ on sale. Thats still about the same price as the Quintets but will give you better sound, and a stronger sound. Those are my thoughts. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  18. I've been reading alot lately about people that dont think that the Pro Medias are actualy very good, and not what they are cracked up to be... That they are dissapointed, and alot of people questioning whether or not they should buy them. Let me say, that every time I read one of these I am listening to my speakers, or I turn them on.. just to look for what they are saying. The Klipsch Pro Medias are by far the Best damn speakers that I have ever heard with the exception of High End Home Theater speakers. Klipsch Pro Medias beat the pants off my dads Kenwoods, My dads Fishers (that are now mine) and I would even say it beats my friends JBL set up. (... not in loudness, or bass) If you are not happy with the Pro Medias, the hiss bothers you, or the not REAL strong mid rang bothers you, then move up to a HT system its as simple as that. I know I will be in a few years, but I will always keep my Pro Medias as surrounds and back up because they are good speakers, no doubt about that. But then your looking at spending 150$ on a CHeap Amp from BestBuy or around 500$ for a good amp from Best buy. Then if you want Klipsch.. then your looking at 250 for a pair SB-1's, the lower end bookshelf speakers. If you want a set up like the Pro Medias (4 speakers) then thats 500$. Already your at 650-1000$, but exceptionaly better sound quality, and it'll be louder. Then, if you want a 5.1 system, but the Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 isnt good enough for you, and you dont like the 400$ price tag... look at it like this. You keep that previous set up and add a center channel, lets say the SC-1 for another 280$. Now your up to 930$ - 1280$. I'm just trying to put everything into perspective for you. Pro Media 4.1 will cost you about 300$. You get 4 Good satalites, and a good sub. Pro Media 5.1 will cost you about 400$. You get 5 good Satalites (counting the center as a sat.) and a larger more powerful sub. 200 watts Dual 8 inches. Klipsch SB-1's + Reciever/Amp will cost you about 650$ - 1000$. You get very good Bookshelf speakers that offer better sound and more power than the ProMedia Satalites. Klipsch SB-1's + SC-1 + Reciever/Amp will cost you about 950$-1300$. You get the good Bookshelf speakers, alot better center, and more sound. And I havent even brought up the sub yet.. Lets say you wanna add a sub.. even if you dont want to go with Klipsch, but you want a powerful one, and you just run up to Best Buy, thats another 150 - 200 bucks right there. So do you see what I am saying? The Klipsch Pro Medias are a VERY good buy. They out preform alot of larger more expensive speakers (Kenwood, JBL, Fisher, Sony, Bose) Its for people that want good sound, but dont have alot of money. If you want the real good stuff, and have the money, stop whining about the Pro Medias and how they arnt good enough and go buy a real HT system. One last thing. I remember Paradigm saying how he went with the Paradigm Cinima Series.. then everyone jumped on him. The Paradigm Cinima Series outpreform the Klipsch Quintets (yes I have heard both) and the Quintets are better than the Pro Medias. So using simple math, The Pro Medias are NOT better than the Pradigm Cinima Series. Even at about 300 dollers less than the Quintets, the Cinima Series is still going to cost you 200-250 more than the Klipsch Pro Media 5.1's. And you still need to buy a Reciever/Amp. So there your looking at 600$-700$ for the Cinima Series, and another 150$-500$ for the Reciever/Amp. Once again, its all about price. If you got the money... go with the better stuff. The Pro Medias only have 1 real compeditor in the preformance area and thats the Monsoons. And I would go with Pro Medias any day. Well if you think I am wrong, let me know. If you agree, let me know. If you feel I left something out, let us know. THanks for hearing me out. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  19. By all meens, if you like the Monsoons sound better go with them. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  20. For the life of me I cant remember what road the Hill Crest I go to is on... ohh well. When ever I go there, I talk to the people... and they seem to know what they are talking about, can answer all my questions, and let me listen to what ever I wish to. I let them know I will not be buying anytime soon, I had been planing to buy something this summer when I got the money, but changed my mind and will be waiting another couple years till I graduate HighSchool. I have been meening to go to a Tweeter.. just no one will take me and I havent gotten my Drivers Liscense yet (maby because I cant spell the word..) Nice to find someone that lives around you.. It makes you feel... more comfertable I guess. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  21. I know that more expensive doesnt equal better.. but.... but from I have read, the Nautilus series seem to offer a great sound reproduction. Alot of people I have talked to, that know quite alot about speakers and play with them... say that B&W are great spakers and offer a better sound reproduction than most. I'm just taking what I know about speakers, what I know about the Klipsch designs, and what I know about the B&W designs... and guessing that the Nautilus Prestigue will offer a better sound than a High End Klipsch. I have personaly heard the Nautilus 802, and was quite impressed.... They were in the same room as the Martin Logans... ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
  22. Here in Dallas Texas we have quite a few stores that carry Klipsch. The one I go to all the time is Hill Crest Hi Fi . They have alot of Klipsch products.... Bookshelfs... Floor Standing....... 24. If you REALY need it... youy can make a 7.2 system. Get the Pro Media 5.1's. and a 2.1 set. Put the 5.1 sats in the Front, and the back. and the sub in the front Put the 2.1 sats on the side, and the sub in the back. ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
