  1. Thank you for the input "billybob" As soon as I get this darn Rotel processor all figured out (buyers remorse), certainly going to make a DAC addition. **someone please remind me to NEVER buy another pre-amp/processor again** -FS: Rotel RSP-1068 pre-amp/processor

  3. Wow, thanks everyone! ...particularly, "minermark" for starting this thread. Think I will give the HRT II a shot. Only about $150 shipped. Looking forward to hear what I have been missing.
  4. yeah but those are $2500. & besides the fortes the other speakers are a dime a dozen. $600 for chorus, forte & quartets with upgrades is unheard of! Hence the reason they have been for sale for ages now. Outrageously over priced! these are at your friends house??? go buy them! or buy them for me untill we can arrange shipping.
  5. how about this one, it has tubes http://www.ebay.com/itm/HiFiMAN-EF-2A-USB-DAC-Amp-Combo-including-vintage-1956-6AK5-vacuum-tubes-/291079824312?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item43c5b5a3b8
  6. Saw your post and reminded me of this, just 30 minute drive... http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/ele/4310192521.html
  7. Glad you started this thread wondering if maybe I need a DAC as well? When listening to Pandora or Radio stations on-line, I simply run a patch from headphone jack on computer to RCA input on the pre-amp. DO I NEED A "DAC" TOO???
  8. Morning Dennie Growing more fond at each pass of another song. Simply put into one word, Happy! Amazed! Excited! Thrilled! Complete! Giddy! WOW! The sound from these is more remarkable than I imagined. There is no comparison to my old RF-7's. I'll never go back )) ...a 1/3rd of a turn of the volume knob - BLISS
  9. for informational purposes: -I saw a pair of RF-7's in a local pawn shop this morning tagged at $779. I am sure we could have walked out with them under 700 cash...
  10. Thank you Doctor -going all SS Rotel. Some of it is already on the way. Hoping to have the amp nailed by weekends close. YAY very excited to hear the results of my new 2-channel build.
  11. Looking for a 2-channel Rotel for my new La Scala's. Rotel RB-1080 at a reasonable price?
  12. I did, for a very short time, have both the Forte II (via 200 wpc, Adcom) and the RF-7 (via 350 wpc, Carver) running together . For the lack of a better explanation, it turned into a confused and muddied sound. Both speakers seemed to take away from the other. Maybe it was the difference in amps, I just don't know. What I do know is that it did not sound right. Hence, the 7's lost the game
  13. Welcome Matt, so here is a little of my own experience. Was hook line & sinker with a pair of RB-61's (very 1st pair of Klipsch). These were great, but quickly I was ready for some serious sound. A few months later I picked up a pair of RF-7's from my local HiFi shop. At the time, thinking I will never buy another speaker. WRONG!!! So, straight to the point. I came across a pair of Forte II's for little $. Installed new Crites woofers in them and never looked back. After adding the Forte's my 7's became mere carpet weights, collecting dust! I stopped listening to them completely. The Forte's had plenty of punch on the low end and a warmth I came to love on mid's and highs. I listened to these for a few months and then it happened. Sold everything, sought out the La Scala. My point, I did not realize it, IMO the Forte blew the 7's outta the water. I wasted a lot of money chasing the Reference line. The RF series are great, please don't get me wrong. I just think the Heritage is BETTER! Again Welcome to the Forum mattSER
  14. cf4, I used Rotel on the horns to bi-amp my 7's with nice success. From what I have read, Rotel has a nice warm sound that will go well with the Scala's. Thank you dtel Hello my ol' Friend, the folded bass bin horn is AMAZING. I was skeptical at first (prior to purchase) after finding out about the SMALL rectangular hole in the back of bin. I don't fully understand how this design can possibly make such good sound, But it DOES!!! no argument Rock on Dennie Schu, they came all the way up to Missouri from Texas. Very sweet trade deal with a fella in Arkansas. DELIVERED! I can only hope it's enough miner
  15. Yup, Adcom gear. GTP-502 pre & GFA 555 amp (original). BUT just purchased a Rotel 1068 pre for $239 on the Bay. Going with ALL Rotel gear. Just going to have to be a little at a time. Oh, Adcom gear will be for sale soon Thanks all for the kind Congrats
  16. Several years ago, I picked up a pair of RF-7's thinking I will never part with. Well, in short, goodbye my ol' friends. Hello! La Scala!!! After getting them settled in (had to paint the wall behind cause they clashed with the yellow). Replaced a diaphragm on one HF horn (I'll do the other next week). It was time for a test drive! Three words, OMG!!! -the delicacy of sound from these is amazing. The warmth is attractive and the look, well, look at them! Gorgeous! I was a little worried they would be too much. Those worries went quickly out the door with the twist of the throttle. Oh dear Lord, I had no idea what I have been missing. Now to smooth over the neighbors. I think some fresh baked cookies are in order
  17. Rivernuggets, I am running one of the Paradigm subs, it is just beside couch. I have a little house and would like to at least stay on speaking terms with the neighbors. One came over one day because I was rattling the windows in her house (across the street!) That is when I went down to one sub and moved it away from an exterior wall. Having never seen a La Scala before this. Bringing them into the house was a bit overwhelming. WOW, big!!! THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!
  18. Gonna have to wait till the neighbors head to work. You know, all that "1946" stuff The very little juice I have given them so far however, again, SPEECHLESS!
  19. I have never seen a pair of La Scala's in person, with my own 2 eyes. Now I have a pair sitting RIGHT IN MY LIVING ROOM OMG!!! Speechless!!! did not settle YAY
  20. Looking for Scala's in Mid Missouri NOT GONNA SETTLE, YAY! good bye RF-7, good bye 350 wpc Carver... Hello pretty, oiled girls in a cumbersome square box. Yup! holding out )) Thanks everyone!
  21. Thank you all for chiming in and helping with my dilemma. So I believe the best for me will be to hang on to the Forte II's (paid for). Sell the 7's and the mongo amp I power them with. Take that money and create a La Scala fund. The right pair WILL come along. The warm sound from the Heritage series has grown on me and I think there may be some disappointment in the KLF (you helped same me money). Thanks again, this Forum ROCKS
  22. Hello Forum, it has been a while I need your HELP. Thinking of pulling the trigger on a pair KLF-30's. Currently running a pair of RF-7's as well as Forte II. Ever since I picked up the Forte and replacing the woofers with Crites upgrades I have fell in love with these and the 7's are collecting dust. I am selling both the 7's and the Forte with the original intention of picking up a pair of La Scala. That has not come to pass however. So in my quest I came across a pair of KLF-30's in very good condition. The seller is asking $900 O.B.O. so there may be some negotiation room. A minor 2 1/2 hour drive one way as well. I have always loved the KLF-30 just for its sheer presence. Klipsch 12" x2 plus a horn, YAY!!! I love the sound of the Forte II, in my opinion they blow the 7's away. I have never heard the KLF-30 however and am seeking YOUR knowledge and experience. I am strictly 2.1 channel rock/funk/pop music. Can you all please weigh in? Will the KLF last? Do they have the warm Forte like sound? Would you want a pair in your cave? (side note, will be saving a ton of $$$ if I go with KLF) Thank you for your time Matt
  23. I am running the Monitor 9's in my bedroom 2-channel through an Onkyo M-504. They sound fantastic! I had the opportunity to buy 4 of them when I purchased the 2. Wish I would have picked up all four. Good deal, I think you will like them. Rock n' Roll [8]
