people need to stop complaining about the klipsch's. I know this is rich coming from a person who has complained on numberous occasions but i am a hippocrit. It doesn't matter how good paradigm speakers are, "my family has 2 sets of paradigm book shelfs, one lower end and one is a level up from them." I had no idea how good they were and i think they are lower end, but my dad was in a very impressive audio store and heard audiophilles that work there raving about them so he picked some up. Anyways just because someone prefers paradigm speakers it doesn't mean that klipsch speakers are crap. Just cause one set sounds better than another it doesn't mean you should just chuck out the lesser set, there is a thing called personal preference.

i think you should be able to do it from windows actually. In the control panel of your computer there should be some sound or multimedia options.

ive never known an os to interfer with speakers , but i guess you have to check you settings and how compatible it is with your sound card.

I have the 4.1's and i love them. The release of the 5.1's does'nt make the 4.1's any worse but makes my ulcer act up.

They like to anger customers. You see they are planning to get all their current customers extremely angry so they will no longer be customers. Then they will gain a whole new set of customers who hopefully will have punchier base and better speakers cable. They're upgrading you!

Yes ARGYLE!! Beautifuly put. ive been trying to say that for some time now! I am the owner of a promedia 4.1's, ive had them for a few weeks and came to the same conclusion you did about 3 weeks ago. Klipsch probably made a lot of angry customers from this descision and i know im one of them, well maybe not a customer anymore we will have to see.

Its cause winamp doesn't do digital cd audio. Windows media player does. So you can either listen to cd's through wmp, or you can plug your cd drive directly into your soundcard. I have had the same problem as you and have chosen the wmp method, becuase ive heard that plugging the cd drive directly into the sound card results in sound quality degrading.

I spent 550 dollars canadian on the pros and i love them. I am not a pro basher i just disagree with the new 5.1's. There was a good year or year and a half betweeen the v2-400's and the 4.1's. An 2 months is not much time between the 4.1's and the 5.1's. And i am almost positive that sales will suffer becuase of that. BAAD marketing. Mainly cause people who loved the 2.400's or people who wanted them jumped on the 4.1 bandwagon. 2months later for people that bought them when they first came out, or maybe even a few weeks later for a lot , a new set just comes out. Do you really think people are gonna upgrade to a much more expensive system after having the 4.1's for only a few months at the max? The answer is definatly NO. People will buy them that dont have pro's, but im positive that people who already have 4.1's will not buy them.. unless money is absolutley no object and they must have the best. But unfortunatly i am not made of money. I am 17 and saved for a long time to get the 4.1s.

Looking at the system im guessing your a rich spoiled kid or an adult with a job. Either way money does not seem to be an issue for you so go with the 5.1's.

Ya i got mine 2 weeks ago too. i was pissed but i now realize that i would have not purchased the 5.1's and the 4.1's are good for my computer. Promedias are computer speakers. The 5.1's are also computer speakers that double as a cheap buy decent HT setup. If the reason why your buyin it is for HT, considering the only real difference is the center channel, do yourself a favor and get a HT setup. Like the paradigms mentioned above, Peace outa here

Ya i think people are stupid, a wowed by specs. Everyone raved about the pros and how sweet they sounded and when i got them i was dissapointed. Yes they are the best sounding computer speakers, but computers speakers are no match to HT speakers. They pro's dont sound that good and are nothing compared to good HT. Instead of using the pros as a cheap alternative to a good HT system just get a proper one. Besides a real HT is many many more uses, and with a good amp you got lotsa **** to play with.

I totaly agree, spending 299 for the 4.1's is a heck of a lot of money for computer speakers. When i told people they were like, why the hell would you spend that much on computer speakers? So the 5.1's are out of the questions, just buy a HT setup, or use the money to start a good one.

If you plug your headphones into the mic jack you can use them as a crude mic. i wonder if the pro's would work as a mic, lemme check. Thats kind of a neat fact how the vibrations work both ways

Ya bought my 4.1's a few weeks ago. I knew of the 5.1's at the time but not very much. I thought i would feel cheated but these are still awesome. No matter how good the 5.1's are these are still good and i am still happy. Besides the 5.1's are 100 dollars more expensive + i would have to buy a 5.1 card. Thats about $300 dollars canadian more. Then add tax to that its waay outa my budget. Extra 400 bucks for a center channel? No thanks i like the phantom just fine, besides Amy told me the 4.1's are better for computers.

Ive bought the set and i have had no problem. Think about it this way. You have have heard 10 people on this message board saying that they got a bum system. But they probably came onto this message board just to say that and get help. They are 10 out of thousands and thousands of buyers. Its not like 30 people on the message board bought them and 10 got bum sets, its like 10000 people bought them and 10 of em got bum sets and came to the message board to talk about it. Just cause a majority of people on the board had that problem doesn't mean a majority of buyers have that problem.
