  1. It's all subjective, but I say "yes", there is a big difference. I was content with DD and DTS too, but now I really enjoy the lossless formats. To each his own though, you need to hear it with your own ears then decide.
  2. My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to listen to the P-39F's in their listening room at the Klipsch HQ in Indy about 4 months ago. All I can say is... wow. One of those sounds that just makes you smile, even if you are trying to be "cool" about it. I had an ear to ear grin and so did the GF. After we left, all I could talk about was the sound of them... all she could talk about was the look of them... Great combo! They would be the perfect speaker in my household. My $.02
  3. Youth, You crack me up, that made me cough on my vodka/tonic a little. You are so right. Do your research, know what a good deal is, and BE READY!!! I had been looking for about 4 months for an amp (not ready to buy, but researching) with all intentions of saving for a few more months before getting really serious about it. Then Bill gave us a heads-up about this Outlaw and I did all the research I could in about 10hrs (the Internet is an amazing thing) I knew it was a steal if I could get the guy to ship it...so I pounched on it. The shipper ended up being a really good dude. He was really into HT when he was in college and now he's really into his trucks (which I don't really understand, but to each his own!) so he wanted to sell this to buy a couple tires for one of his trucks. Unreal. He told me that he hadn't watched a full movie in over 2 years... I about threw up. He knew it was underpriced but he wanted to get it sold, he didn't want to ship it at first but I wore him down with my enthusiasm[]!
  4. Thanks again guys! I figured it out and I paid $.30/watt of good, quality power. That's tough to beat. Congrats on your Acurus Bill, I was looking at those really hard when the Outlaw fell in my lap. You guys are so right, have the $$$ in hand and you can catch some great deals. PS- I just love changing my "Signature" for the better!!!
  5. Thanks AN, I feel like it will live in my HT for quite a while too! If for nothing else, because the thing is too big to be movin' around all the time[]! I knew I wasn't going to be able to find a quality 3/5/7 channel amp for that $$$ anytime soon, so I had to jump on it! I feel pretty fortunate!
  6. Hey guys and gals, got the 750 today. Took me a while to set it up (operator error, these things can make a person feel so stupid), but after I did, some initial thoughts: 1) So THAT'S what "headroom" is... wow. The "punch" from the 82's is really impressive. 2) Effortless...plain and simple. No strain whatsoever. 3) The seperation of instruments is nothing short of astounding. 4) I now realize why people purchase external amps. That is all. I'm very happy with it (especially for 280 bucks!!). Just music so far, a movie later this evening. PS- The thing is a beast. Built like a tank. Thanks to everyone that convinced me to get it, and thanks again to Bill, who found it!!
  7. Youth, Thanks! I'm really excited! What you said is mainly what I've heard/read about bi-amping/wiring. I was just curious if the 165w (real watts) X 2 would make a difference. It's different with adding a surround channel on my Integra (rated at 100w/channel, which it probably isn't), I didn't hear much of a change.
  8. Okay, I'm sorry, I just have to be 100% sure this won't make much, if any, difference. I'll be receiving, and setting up, my Outlaw 750 tomorrow (woohoo!!). Here is my question... It's a five channel amp, I'm leaving the Integra to handle the surrounds. I'm only running 5.1 and plan on leaving it that way for quite some time. Therefore, I have 2 free channels on the Outlaw... I read on the Outlaw forum of someone splitting the signal ("R" front and "L" front) from their pre with a Y splitter, then connecting each end of the Y to a seperate channel on the amp. Thus, the R Front and L Front each had 2 channels of the amp going into them (one HF and one LF, obviously). The other channel of the 5 channel amp went to the center. So, would this be: A) beneficial? waste of time/money? I only ask this because I thought it might be different than just using the 2 left over channels (rear surrounds) of an AVR to bi-wire/bi-amp. Thank guys, Jrod
  9. Good quality, inexpensive cable. http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=109&cp_id=10239 You don't need bi-wiring cables. I run 12 guage all around, but I've heard anything from 12-16 is just fine.
  10. 2nd what Youth said. Also, have you set the audio output on you PS3 to HDMI instead of optical? That could be it.
  11. YES. If you have to go the in-wall route, those are good.
  12. I think he's trying to say that the Furman pst-8d is a really good conditioner. It's $100-$200. From what I've read, I'd go with a $200 Furman before a $200 Belkin.
  13. I really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing El Nino! Very nice room!
  14. Yup! Very much like yourself, I love to do my research. The only time I ever buy on implulse is if I see, what I consider to be, a really good deal. And, now that I know what I want the end result to look like, I can really get deep into my research! [8-|] I really appreciate the info, sometimes some of that stuff just doesn't come through on those other sites. No one has the time/patience to sit down and really explain something. Thanks again!
  15. Youth, thanks my man! That does clear it up. I'm in the same boat as Carbon, just don't have the space for it....yet! []
  16. I was just thinking the exact same thing Carbon. I can't wait to be talking about this stuff. Youth, all of those pics in the 235:1 thread got me really excited! Was I reading it correctly in that you need a projector and then a different lens to get the 235:1?
  17. Received this in the mail yesterday from Amazon.com. Wow. Really, really good concert BD. Picture quality is top notch, maybe the best I've seen on a concert BD. Sound is very, very good...9/10. Venue/crowd was amazing, one of my favorite parts. If you are a fan of The Killers or of just a really good rock show, check this out. My current top 3 in BD concerts: 1) Dave and Tim at Radio City 2) The Killers 3) Kings of Leon Live at the O2
  18. Yup! Between that and Amish furniture she really has no room to talk. My (her!!) ent. center cost more than my front soundstage...plus sub!!
  19. They really don't Mark, they really don't. The thing is... I don't get her handbag obsession, but I sure do know it exists!!
  20. [:|] Just kidding... Congrats!!
  21. It really is a beautiful speaker. It rarely has it's "clothes" on at my house!
  22. The RC-35 would match seemlessly, that's what you should look for. Here's one on Audiogon: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1273804848&/Klipsch-RC-35-Center-Pristine- Even with shipping from Youth's 35's and this RC-35, you'd be well under your budget! Also, post in the Garage Sale section of this forum that you are looking for one. There might be a member selling one for a better price.
  23. No prob! That I don't know, I don't want to tell you something and have it damage the speakers (I don't think it would, though). Maybe someone a little more technically inclined could chime in...
  24. http://buffalo.craigslist.org/ele/1656270304.html http://buffalo.craigslist.org/ele/1654655147.html Both in your budget... And, a better sub. Plus, you might be able to get each one a little cheaper. Sorry, just realized that's the same ad.
