  1. 1) I've heard the Quintets, and I liked them (doesn't help you much). 2) The quintets have bigger woofers than the HD 500's... about 30% bigger (1 inch), that's pretty significant. 3) Like you said... post on the Quins, spring-clips on the HD's 4) The Quins have a nice weight to them, the feel solid. I can't find the weight of the HD's Again, just my $.02 Also, I think you will be able to find a better sub for your 100-200 than the 8-incher that comes with the HD500. Let me see what I can find in your area...
  2. I would go with the quintets and a sub, just me. You'll be able to find a sub for that price range. Like Ironslave said, if you go used you can find a real deal! Where are you located?
  3. Welcome, Laron! Okay, 1st question: Yes, the RB-61's would work, or the RB-25's (if you could find them, basically the same as the 61's, just its predecessor). I also think they would be a major improvement over the in-wall model you currently have as your L/R. 2nd ?: I really don't know if the move to the Reference in-walls would improve the sound of the rears. I honestly have 0% experience with either speaker. My guess is yes, but again, only a guess. 3rd ?: There a lot of options as far as receivers go, for what you're looking for, check out 4-5 brands and weigh the pros/cons of each. To point you in the right direction I would advise looking at: Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo, and Marantz. Each one has a unique sound and a model that meets your criteria. Each one should fit in the $400-$600 range. One example is this Pioneer, excellent reviews and owned by a couple forum members: http://www.pioneerusa.com/PUSA/Products/HomeEntertainment/AV-Receivers/PioneerReceivers/ci.VSX-1019AH-K.Kuro PS- There are also a lot of ways to connect an ipod/iphone to your receiver. I highlighted the above Pioneer because it had the actual USB port you were looking for. PPS- Good luck!!
  4. If they fit, do not even think about it... Get Youth's RB-35's and the RC-35. You will not regret it, plus you are getting them (the RB-35's) for a song! They are in amazing condition and Youth has a great reputation around here.
  5. One thing to remember... The Quintet systems DO NOT come with a sub, The HD systems do. You will absolutely need some sort of sub with the Quintets, they provide NO low end (bass). That said, I have 0% experience with the HD line. I have heard the Quintets w/sub at a buddy's house, sounded pretty good. He has a small room, a decent Denon receiver and a sub. Good luck
  6. My question is this: How long is purchasing the 83's going to push back the purchase of the RC-64? Weeks, months, a year? I ask this because if you are 70% movies (as I am), you should want the 64 ASAP. If it's something like a year.... That's a loooong time with an underpowered center. I will have to make this exact same decision within the next 12-18 months so I've been thinking about it in the back of my head. What I have come up with is this... I will probably go with the 63's for my HT setup, then try to go Heritage for 2ch. I'm lucky in that I have a lot of space and a girlfriend who indulges this hobby of mine. I've rambled a bit, but my point is: If that much of your listening time is devoted to movies, get the 64 ASAP. My $.02
  7. Oh yeah, obviously! I just thought he would have already scoped his local shops.
  8. Fair enough, it's your $. I'd only buy from Klipsch Authorized online dealers, if you insist on buying new.
  9. night, Where are you located? Are you willing to go the used route? Jrod
  10. Space, i was just about to ask how that set-up was... Who cares about wires, all I'm concerned with is the sound, how is it!?!? Jrod
  11. Thanks Devildog, that's what I needed to know! I second what you said about the "wood veneer", it's so nice on the 64.
  12. devildog, You and I have eerily similar set-ups (check my profile)... I mean it's kinda spooky! Obviously, I think it looks great!! PS- Is that a fan on your Onkyo? I know they get warm, as does my Integra. If so, where did you get it/cost?
  13. Agreed! Still, if you ever find yourself in Oklahoma City, consinder yourself on beer richer!
  14. Thanks Saturn! I feel really fortunate for finding such a good deal (actually, Bill found it...thanks again, Bill!).
  15. Congrats Wayne! You have yourself a really nice piece of equipment there, great choice going with the Onkyo! I love my Integra (made by Onkyo), movies are truly a treat (especially blu-rays, with the new HD sound formats). I think you'll really enjoy it. Nice power too with the 130w/channel! Congrats again, let's see that set-up! Jrod
  16. Don't mean to hijack your thread Youth, but I have a simple question for Rich: Did/does your Onkyo run hot? Does it run cooler since you have your front soundstage ran by the Emotiva?
  17. Similar question in this thread: http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/130312/1318000.aspx#1318000 nez (last post) has owned both so I'd say he would give the best advice.
  18. Blu, I think you'd be fine setting a 32-incher on top of the 64. In fact, the guy I bought my 64 off of had a tv on it. As far as movies go... My girlfriend and I watched The Hurt Locker just yesterday. Great film. Not much in the way of sound, couple explosions here and there. But, as far as movies go, an excellent film.
  19. Ha! 1) No, you cannot have it... It was worth a shot, though! 2) I drove 740 miles (one way!) to get it soooo......NOT A CHANCE!!! 3) Got my current front soundstage + RT-10d from a Klipsch employee who was incredibly nice. OKC to Indy and back...great little trip with my old lady.
  20. Youth, From what I've seen from doing a little research, that seems like a good deal (for you). I've been seeing that amp go for b/w 500 and 800 bucks. Since you're trying to get $350 out of your 35's, I'd say that's a good deal. All that said, I've never heard an Anthem or your RB-35's, for that matter. I'm giving you a strict cost/benefit analysis. Like you always say....... could you get $350 out of that amp??? I think so.
  21. Thanks guys! I'm super excited!!! I feel really fortunate, I've aquired every speaker in my system, my receiver, and now this amp for under $2500. All pretty good deals, IMHO. Blu, that's a Paradigm DSP series, I believe. You should jump all over the 64 it's a great speaker.
  22. Uhhhhhhh, The Program???? Fantastic movie, my No. 2, after Rudy.
  23. I know this thread is from a looooong time ago but, ........ just saw THL today. Great, great film. Agreed, the simplicity is a huge draw for me. I consider myself a "movie buff", and the simplicity really captured me. Renner's performance was great, gut-wrenching, but great. Very, very fine film. Highly recommended.
  24. Not 100% sure here but.... I don't think you can add an amp to the 1019. Sucks, but that's the breaks. I'm going to say what a bunch of people reading this are thinking.... You need a better receiver/pre-pro. The 1019 is a fine receiver, but for someone who has your set-up, you need something else. I would suggest maybe an Emotiva pre/pro set-up (UMC-1/XPA-5). I'm not trying to offend any Pioneer users, I just think with a 83/64 front soundstage he needs something else.
