  1. Alex, I'm glad you are enjoying your new 62's, sounds like you got them for a steal! Specific question for you: How do you like the XPA-3 powering your L/C/R? What does it change specifically in the sound of your speakers over just using your denon's amp? I'm asking because I'm planning on doing the exact same thing with my L/C/R and my Integra (100w/ch X 7ch). I would really like to hear your opinion. Thanks in advance! Jrod
  2. Don't know if you are opposed to the "used" or "ebay" route, but this one looks really nice. Plus, it comes with the ipod dock ($50+)... You might be able to get in and steal it for sub-$300. That would be a heckuva deal. Seller has 100% feedback, no affil. just lookin out for a fellow forum member! http://cgi.ebay.com/Yamaha-RX-V663-7-2-channel-665-Watt-Receiver_W0QQitemZ260551670250QQcmdZViewItemQQptZReceivers_Tuners?hash=item3caa16f9ea
  3. I'll be on the look-out, smokarz! The best (and, admittedly hardest!) thing to do is to be patient. Maybe hang out for a little bit and see if you can snag Carbon's when (if) he moves to seperates. Until then post a WTB in the Garage Sale section, people on this site are awesome about trying to find stuff that people want. Good luck!!
  4. Blu, You shouldn't feel like a fool at all! Like Youth said, you got a great speaker for a great price. Plus, when you look to upgrade to that 64, your 62 will still have a lot of its value.[] Don't worry about your purchase, you got a great deal! Jrod
  5. If you can find the 663 for substantially less than the 863, I would get the 663. You're never going to hear the difference in the 10w/ch. Like someone said, the video scaling isn't worth the $. My $.02 Jrod
  6. YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeYOUR welcome (Ace Ventura voice)... I think I was in on that thread! I'm glad you went with the 35, saved yourself some coin! Enjoy your new gear. Jrod
  7. That is seriously a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally good deal.
  8. So, my Integra finally came and I got her all set up. Some initial impressions (stole that from Youthman): Music: The sound is a tad brighter than my old Yammy (rx-v365). That said, The bass seems much more accurate, it was a little loose with the Yamaha. Overall, I like the sound. I haven't had enough time with it to determine which musical sound I prefer. Movies: Alright, here is where the Integra earns its keep. I just finished Master and Commander (DTS-MA, Blu-ray), all I can say is....WOW!! The sound was so immersive, so intense. I felt as if I was ON THE SHIP, and not just during the battles or the storm, the entire time. If you have not seen this movie you simply must. Excellent rear effects, excellent bass. The sound from the battles give you that stupid grin on your face (You all know what I'm talking about!) because it is so good. It was a completely different sound than I was used to, I've seen the movie 10+ times. This is basically what I was expecting from Integra (Onkyo). I have heard the musicality of their receivers leaves a little to be desired. I wouldn't consider it "bad" by any stretch, just different. The movie sound, however, absolutely blew me away. All this works out perfectly for me because I am probably about 70/30 movies to music. That's all I got for now. If any of the Integra/Onkyo owners want to give me some tips...I'm all ears!! Jrod
  9. Good for you Blu, I hope you enjoy it (I'm sure you will!) Post pics of the 62 when you get it set up (sorry, I love pics!). Jrod
  10. Thanks smokarz! It arrived last night in mint condition, getting it tweeked the way I want it today. I watched a little Dark Knight on the True-HD last night (like 5 minutes), all I can say is WOW. I was one of those people who has been skeptical of the HD audio formats (True-HD, DTS-MA), I have to eat my words, it is pretty impressive. Jrod
  11. dharris, Have you ever thought about going used? I just got an Integra 6.9 from a guy on Audiogon for less than $500, shipping and all! $482 (no tax is a nice bonus on a $500 item, in Oklahoma it saves me about 40 bucks!!) to be exact. The 6.9 is a couple years old, but still has everything I could want or need in a receiver right now (HDMI 1.3, TrueHD, DTS-MA, pre-outs, etc.). It is a little under-powered at 100w/ch, but the pre-outs leave me room down the road to ad an amp (Emotiva XPA-3!!). Don't be scared of the "used" market, there is great value out there, you just have to do your research. Good luck on whatever you do! Jrod
  12. That's a great system! If you have the room for 82's as surrounds, then do it! I love my 82's, I wouldn't mind 2 more![] Enjoy! And, welcome to the forum! Jrod PS- Post pics when you get everything set up, we love pics!
  13. dachuckster, Congrats on the new rears! As for suggested movies... If you are looking specifically for 7.1: 3:10 To Yuma, Rambo (the new one, obviously) Both really take advantage of the extra channels. Other than that, it's tough to find much done in 7.1 (especially worth owning). As far as 5.1 D-trueHD and DTS-MA, the standards: Ironman, The Dark Knight, Master and Commander (my favorite movie of all-time for surround effects), Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at Radio City (music, obviously) Jrod
  14. Ha! 6 beer job, I like that. I feel your pain, I have an Integra 6.9 arriving tomorrow. I'm super excited, but man it's a lot of work. Anyway, a buddy of mine has the 765 and he loves it. Let us know how it all comes together! Jrod
  15. Blu, Check this out... http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrmoni&1270849609&/Klipsch-RB-61-and-RC-62-(2)-pa Ad says $300 for RC-62... You might have to convince him to ship, but that's a pretty good deal! Good luck! Jrod
  16. Looks really nice Blu! About the center... That is really strange about the no holes, hmmm oh well. Anyway, there was another thread about tilting a center in the HT section. Someone suggested rubber door-stops. That sounds like a pretty good idea to me.
  17. No pics yet. This site is a little wonky for loadings pics. For one thing, you can only load one pic per post. I'm not good at it ethier. I put my pics on photobucket.com, then posted a link. That works!
  18. I was going to say the exact same thing... If YOU think it's even close to a good deal, then it is! Just sit back and enjoy your stuff! As for the RC-62... I would enjoy what you have now and save up for an RC-64 (sick center) down the road. IMHO, I don't think the 52 to 62 move would be a substantial enough move to warrant the $$$. Jrod
  19. Mila Kunis... There is NOTHING wrong with her. Stupid hot.
  20. There are two holes in on the bottom of your RC-52. If you put the screw (I'm assuming it's the rubber tipped long screw) in the front hole (closest to the grill) it will angle the speaker upwards. The more you screw it in the less the angle becomes. Angle the speaker to your listening area. I had to do this with my RC-35 before I mounted my tv. Good luck!! The 82's are beasts!! I have them and LOVE them! Jrod
  21. djwarila, Great set-up, and a GREAT movie!! Looks really good on BD, the beauty of the islands (not to mention Sara Marshall) really comes through!
  22. James, You an Outkast fan? I've been listening to the since the 6th grade (1993). Easily my favorite hip-hop group of all-time. Southernplayalistic... is a true classic.
  23. Or, if you like the Synergy line, go with the S2's, the C2 (or C3), and a pair of F1's or F2's upfront. Do you currently have any of the equipment? Basically what Bill and I are saying is try not to mix lines (i.e. Synergy w/ Icon, or vise versa).
