  1. ok I have to ask what do the white ring ones look like? I need to buy a few of them. But mine have the black dust cap. Please let me know what you would like to sell them for.
  2. welcome to the forum! I owned the RF3II for many years and loved them but I have to tell you it was not till I added an amp I realized what they would really do. You will love the RF3's if I remember correctly it was the best selling RF speaker in that series.
  3. so where was that beautiful enclosure being installed?
  4. great pic very similar... I was very happy with sound quality and spl with the infinity kappa perfects that was an amazing speaker for the money. I thought about the power needs and if the enclosure sounds good I am sure I can find a carver amp that will push them. I really thought abut building my own sub at home but I couldn't pay the money for the JL W7. Just to much money. JL's sounded the best in my auto systems, I had RF Kicker L7's and The JL w6 was great.
  5. I just thought it might be a fun idea to play with.
  6. All things considered in your post of infinite wisdom, instead of throwing $645 in the trash why not play around with them.
  7. I have a pair of RF7 that I love and thought I would purchase 4 new 10 inch drivers in the fall and give them a tune up and a fresh look, a couple of them have blemishes. I built a sub cab once for four infinity kappa perfect 12's ported all I can say is it slammed. The port opening was big enough I crawled in the box to wire it. That was for a DJ job tuned at around 32hz. What do you guys think I could do with these 4 10's? I am sure someone has had this idea before, did anybody get any farther than an idea? Does anyone know the impedance of one of the 10'? Ported or sealed? Tell me what you think guys.I do have years of building sub enclosures so please all ideas are welcome. In previous life I was one of those damn kids that knocked the cups off the wall at the local sonic or broke some crystal items at local shop (that was an expensive ticket). Thank you all for your help!!!! I have a NAD2200 that has been beefed up so I might about 300watts mono I could run to the cab. I am going to email klipsch and see if I can get some help with this project like Thiele parameters on the 10's
  8. Here is one situation have encountered that might seem funny to all. I bought a Emotiva MMC-1 the Av processor before the UMC-1. The whole purpose was to replace me Sony ES unit because it gets hot and there is nothing hooked up to the speaker terminals. I hooked up the Emo unit and hated it there where only 2 tone controls bass +-10 and Treble +-10 and I could tell if they where doing anything no matter what adjustments were made. So I sold the Emo installed the Sony again and I am happy. I would like to find a processor one day that has all the tuning ability of my current av unit, i know the new emo umc-1 does but I am just not ready to buy another emo product yet.
  9. I did, I bought a 2200 from a forum member and ran it on a pair of RF3's for about 6 months and found out what they would really do. That pretty much started a downward spiral. I then bought a NAD925THX 5ch from a forum member(WILLAND). The 2200 went out on me and I sent it to New York to be fixed and upgraded. I now have a pair of RF7's that are bi amped with the 2200 on LF and the 925thx on the HF side. My RC7 is run off the 925thx. I love the amps they run cool and produce alot of clean power.Right now I think I am running about 320 watts per RF7 and 160 to my RC7. I could not believe the way my speakers came to life (RF3's) when I got my first amp. I think there a lot of klipsch users out there that understand klipsch takes little power for big sound but that's not entirely true. To move 4 10 inch drivers it takes power. But even on the other hand my RB5's sound much better hooked up to the 2200 the HF sound so good compared to an unit alone not to mention the fact you had better LF extension and better controlled performance. The rule still stands to truly understand the potential of you speakers you need to run at least the RMS wattage. Needless to say I am very Happy with my amps and will advocate external amp use until the av unit manufactures start telling the truth or start producing the power. Thanks to all the members who have posted on this thread, keep it up.
  10. I understand I am sorry about the shipping cost but I want to make sure they arrive as they left no matter who the buyer is. You're right about ultra I am selling my extra gear to buy one. I have my heart set on the gloss black 1799 i think. My only other choice was the paradigm Sub 15 a beautiful monster but also 2799.99 and only made when ordered. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
  11. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/137062.aspx Check my subs at the above link. Paradigm website shows a 18hz Low Freq Ext. I have a matching pair if you are looking to do a dual sub config.
  12. Ok guys this might have already been done but I was having a thought the other night and I think I need to share it and get some freed back from the general population. I have a PS3 like a lot of us do and like the fact the BT controllers or the BT remote works just about anywhere in the house. I had the thought Sony In all it wisdom Why can't they use the BT technology in their home theater av units? I know this would work like RF but wouldn't it be nice to have the feature built in at the time of purchase?
  13. man welcome to the forum you have found the best place to look for klipsch gear. Most of us are your everyday regular joes. So we shop around a lot. Craigslist is a great resouce if you know what you are looking for. Don't be worried about buying older klipsch gear, klipsch speakers if not abused hold up very well I would have to say 10 to 15 years easy. Don't forget the garage sale forum is a great way to meet people and get an idea of what people are selling. Also a good idea if you know what you are looking for you can place a WTB or want to buy and normally a forum member will reply to this in a couple of weeks. if you have any questions please feel free to email me anytime.
  14. Well I have to put my two cents out here. I drove across the state of Arkansas and picked up a Paradigm Servo 15 and love it best 450 i have ever spent. I have 3 of their subs in the house and have never had a problem. They just sound great. I bought all of mine on the used market from people that take care of their equipment. I would look for a Servo 15v2 or the great Paradigm sub 15. Best of luck on your search.
  15. Just looking for some input, I have tossed my original apple buds due to the fact they blow out of my ears while riding. I love to ride my bike, i try to ride 100 miles a week. I walk and jog some, but the issue is the noise reduction from the wind noise or the problem of them blowing out. So the one thing I feel i know i am looking for in-ear. Please tell me what kind of experiences you have or what headphone you own what you like about them or if you don't. Thank for your time.
  16. Welcome to the forum! The perfect match in my mind would be the RC-7 Due to all the 8 inch drivers would all look the same and cabs would be musically the same. If you don't mind me asking what color did you get? I have to admit I used a RC3 for along time and then bought the RC-7 and couldn't be happier. Best of luck and congrats on the RF5 purchase.
  17. wuzzer great point, I notice the difference in volume when i AB my RF7 vs RB5 but you would think the RB5 would be the loudest because of the smaller drivers and smaller horn but that is not the case. The RF'7s are a freak of nature. If had the opportunity to buy a set of 7's there would be no other speaker that would enter my mind.
  18. I love the Reference gear!!! My first set of klipsch floorstanding were RF3s and I was amazed at the sound. When I bought my first 2ch amp I fell in love with them all over again. The depth on the bass and impact from all music was just like listening to new music. Right now I am using RF7's and wouldn't change at all. I hope to get another set. But everyone has a set that is perfect for them. RF3's will run great on any strong true av unit but to understand their full potential you will need to amp them. " please run RMS power so you know what you bought" There are many members here that can help you or provide pro and cons to either of the sets. The collection of knowledge here is just about unending.
  19. Van Morrison Simon and Garfunkel 3 doors down and a lot more....anything you play on RF7's
  20. no sorry about the description they are not hooked up at the same time. Yes sir I did turn the bass and treble up to plus 10 there was little change. The mid was so loud you had to walk to the other end of the house to hear any bass. The mid range issue was only there when the emotiva was hooked up. So now it lives on the kitchen table. I would like to give it one more shot before I sale it.
  21. Guys i just need some help with a problem or maybe just some suggestions. I listen to two channel alot because i love my rf7's. Right now they are hooked to the Sonyes 7es and I like the way it sounds. I bought a emotiva mmc-1 and hooked it up and the mid range was just over the top there was o way to turn it down. I am running 2 amp so I am only using the preamp section of the sony. I thought before i just sound the emotiva I might buy a eq and run it. To try and manage the mid range. With the mmc-1 you only get Treble +-10 and bass +-10 there is no other settings. Yes there is the small and large but that really doesn't do anything but change the LF crossover setting. Please let me know what you think.
  22. First welcome to the forum!!! Also it is great that you understand about running rms power to really experience what those four 8's will do. Not sure about the v brand but there are many forum members that are very happy with their emotiva amps. I would love to get one for my RF7's. Many people do not understand the simple theory that if you do not run the rms power you are not getting the performance you paid for. Again welcome and if there is anything i can do to help please email me.
  23. Guys I really want to make the change to using a preamp processor, if you are doing this please give me your opinion. I am leaning toward B&K I don't think i can afford a Mac pre even used. I was using Sony es unit for the preamp out on it and I liked the sound. Being that I am running a par of RF7's in the front I love good low end bass and the 7's do great job. I am just looking for a opinions I don't want to purchase a prepro and then have to buy an eq to get the sound I want. Thank guys for all the help and please email any questions or if think you can help and i didn't give enough info please email me.
