  1. No worries, hope you can find what you need for a good price! I really do like the remotes, I just don't have a need for this one anymore since the receiver remote opperates pretty much everything.
  2. Love your system though, very nice setup. You'll have to give your impression of the Ultra 10, I wonder if it would be worth me selling my RW-10d and picking up either to Ultra 10 or 12. Hmm...I'm always thinking about buying and selling I really need to stop []
  3. Seriously not to be an azz, but he totally ruined the end of the movie for me. I mean...that sucks. Please for future reference put a SPOLIER ALERT or something in your post if you're going to give away the end. That really sucks...the ending was increadible and I never would have seen that coming but now....I'm done belaboring the point but wow. That just sucked. PS - Mila Kunis is so frickin' HOT
  4. Damn that Emotiva Ultra 12 is sick, wish I had that vs. my RW-10d. Oh well..anyone want to trade? []
  5. My advice - lay off the subwoofer if you're on the 2nd story of your apartment building. You're not gonna make any friends. When that thing is going off, everyone in you building is going to hear it and you'll be intruding on their environment. I'm sorry but I just don't get it. I had a sub when I lived in an apartment and I put it in storage. My neighbors didn't and every night around 10pm they would play a movie at high volumes and my entire apartment would start shaking, my pictures almost falling off the wall. I couldn't go to sleep until their movie was done. That's just not fair to be quite frank. You really don't need it with the speakers you have, and you'll make a lot more friends if you just leave it off. Sorry I just don't like it when people intrude on others relaxation time. I'm not bashing you personally, I'm just saying please don't do it.
  6. I know I'm partial to Yamaha receiver but damn that is a great buy. I have the RX-V665 and I love it and I got it for around the same price. I think Yamaha's are bulletproof, i have my RX-V520 for 12 years and it was playing for basically 24 hours a day (I leave the radio on during the day for my dog, don't ask lol) and it never skipped a beat. Now that's playing backup duty in the bedroom while the RX-V665 is powering my main HT setup and I'm loving it. I think the RX-V765 is either an updated model of my 665 or offers a few features that mine doesn't though I am not quite sure what they are. I need to look up the specs.
  7. Wow I am watching it right now and damn thisis one ******* great movie. The picture is amazing, i love the dark color scheme and the sound is out of this world IMO. The gun sceens are increadible. My whole system is going berserk right now. The surrounds I just installed are making this experience so much better, I can hear the bullets flying around the room. But thanks jacksonbart for spoiling the end of the movie dude...you should put spoiler alert in your post next time just FYI...that way you don't ruin it for other people like you just did for me. Boo...
  8. Damn JJKIZAK that's horrible! So did anyone check that link for the Belkin surge protector, is that ok to handle my Panasonic Viera, satellite box and dvd player? It is only $9.99 but it seems to have adequate protection. Or should I just stick with the Monster HT800 that I already have experience with since its been doing a good job and I know from experience that it protects my equipment? Thanks!
  9. Look my point is very simple. Of course he has ever reason to be upset with the service he received. But so upset that he needs to GO OUT OF HIS WAY to tell everyone not to buy Klipsch products because of his experience with an independent retailer essentially? Why? Does one bad experience mean you should go out of your way to make sure others don't buy the product itself? Why not say "don't do business with this retailer/company" not Klipsch itself. And the point about criticizm vs. praise is true. Most people expect perfect service every single time they buy something, every time they go out to dinner, in every single transaction they enter into. Fine. But if you're going to take the time to criticize and complain about said bad service, why is it so difficult to in turn praise good service when you receive it? Do you understand? People in todays world are ten time more apt to complain about something than to praise something. When I receive good service at a restaurant I always make sure to thank the server for their time. When I receive good customer service on the phone from DirecTV and they help me out with something, I typically ask for their manager so I can tell them that hey, this guy/gal did their job really well and I was satisfied. I like to praise people when they go a good job and let their manager/boss know. At the same time if I receive exceptionally bad service, I would do the same thing. But why just limit your feedback to negative? Why not do what I do and thank people for doing a good job? I work in the customer service field and maybe that's why it bothers me so much. If you take just 5 minutes out of your day to thank someone for doing a good job, do you not realize you are doing a good deed? You are helping that person succeed and probably making their day. And you are encouraging them to provide the same exceptional service to the next customer they do business with. If all they hear all day long is ***** ***** ***** they'll probably be disatisfied and continue to provide poor service. However I act the same when I receive shitty service - their manager deserves to know that this person isn't doing their job. Anyway, I'm off on a rant that has nothing to do with the OP. I'm sorry I'll step off my soapbox now. Take care everyone.

    Inception

So who's going to see it this weekend or sometime soon? I defiintely am going to see it, great cast of characters and the plot looks very interesting to say the least. Hope it's as good as it seems!
  11. I have the Harmony 670 remote. I got it about 6 months ago to consolidate my electronics and absolutely loved it. However, since I got an HDMI switching receiver, I have no use for it anymore as the receiver remote does everything. I bough the 670 for like $115.00 from best buy. I was going to put it up on ebay for sale but if you are interested PM me and maybe I can just sell it on the forum to a fellow member. I have done business on this site, and I'd be selling it through my wife's paypal account and she has well over 1000 sales on ebay with a 99.999% trader rating. Here's a link to amazon.com on what they sell for new and refurbished: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=harmony+670+logitech&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=3451463039&ref=pd_sl_4yl6e140wz_b Look up the specs and if it fits your needs I would be willing to sell it to you for substanially much cheaper than they sell them new because I have no need for it and like to help out fellow forum members. It comes with the CD and USB chords and all original literature. I can take pictures if you want, ther emight be a few blemishes on the remote but nothing major. Let me know.
  12. Lee - Thanks again for all the information. Yea I think it really is a robust piece of equipment. I am not one to fall for the monster gear is the best but I got this as part of a bundle when I bought my TV and have been really happy with it so far. I really do think it has saved me from a number of problems. And you're right, a direct him it won't even matter what you have guarding your equipment. Hopefully that never happens. Ironically enough, we just went through another heavy thunderstorm and sure enough my monster surge protector shut everything down. BTW it's the Monster Power Center HT800. I am looking at a wall-mounted Belkin 3 pronged 1080joule protector for my bedroom. I read all the specs and it seems like a good piece of equipment and it's only $9.99+shipping on amazon.com. Think I'm going to go ahead and get that. My other option is another monster surge protector from bestbuy for $35.00 that also has 1080joule protection. Maybe since I've had such a good experience with monster I should just go ahead and pay the extra to get it. But from reading the Belkin specs there really didn't seem to be much of a difference. Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Wall-Mount-Pivot-Plug-Protector-Protection/dp/B003GEUTBC
  13. LOL [] I would be discouraged too, but I sure as hell wouldn't go way out of my way to publically bash the company and try to "inform" others to not buy a Klipsch product as a result. Let me ask the OP something, when you get good/great service do you go out of your way to do the same thing? Do you provide great reviews on places like Ebiz and go out of your way to give them compliments? Or are you the type of guy that expects everything to be perfect so your rarely hand out compliments? Sorry, I don't mean to sound crass but this is a bit silly. I'd be peeved as hell there is no doubt but I wouldn't go to the extent you are to bash the company. It's an isolated instance from what I've heard and experienced. And like I said, I hope if you are this quick to fly off the handle, I hope you give companies that give you good service the same treatment. I have worked in the customer service arena and it amazes me, you can do 99 things right and 1 thing wrong and people will bash you for that 1 thing and never compliment you on the other 99 things you did right. People are more apt to criticize than to give out compliments as well.
  14. AS blu-bits said, go to monoprice.com for speaker wire. I got 100' worth of 12 guage to use for my surrounds (wire that I could use in my crawl space and through drywall) and I think I paid something like $16.99 or something ridiculous like that. And its amazing wire, I have enough left over that I'm going to use it to wire up my mains and center channel here fairly soon. Don't listen to best buy and spend $100 on speaker wire when you can get better stuff for 1/10 the price. Also damn 2-3k to spend on a system, there's a lot better you an do than the quintet system in my opinion. I would start checking out the classifieds, you could probably put something SICK together for that budget. As others have said you can get a very high quality Onkyo receiver for around $500 or even a Yamaha for that price, and then you have all that money left over to spend on speakers. Granted I got some of the stuff I have for free when my parents moved and for uber cheap since my brother worked for an electronics company that sold Klipsch, but shit I have spent NOTHING for this system and what I've gotten out of it couldn't make me happier. RB-35s - free from parents when they moved RC-35 - $125 shipped (used) RW-10d - $300 S-1s - $85 shipped (used) Yamaha RX-V665 - $395 open box deal I mean look at what I spent and I've got a nice middle of the road set up. If I had your budget I would blow the doors off my house!
  15. Lee - That's a lot of good information thanks so much. Just as an FYI I am using a Monster surge protector in my family room and it has shut down my entire system on numerous occassions to protect it, so I don't think its suffered any damange to be quite frank. Maybe I'm wrong but I would think if it was damaged it wouldn't shut down the electronics to protect it from surges. Is that correct thinking? If I had to replace the thing everytime it shut down my electronics during a storm, I would have had to replace the thing at least 30-40 times. We get a TON of electrical storms and like I said, this thing does a great job of shutting down everything before the surge goes through the system I'd assume since non of my equipment has suffered any damage thus far. Does that make sense? I'd also like to add that the transformer for my entire neighborhood is right behind my house and that has taken direct hits at least 10 times since I've lived here and every single time my surge protector has shut down my system and I have never suffered any damage. The transistor on the pole behind my house has also taken diret hits and the same applies, my surge protector shuts down my system, no damage suffered. Edit: All the surge protectors I have bought have at least a $50,000 guarantee on them. But good call on taking pictures of everything for documentation purposes. I did the same thing for my homeowners policy and sent it to my adjuster so he had everything on file just in case. But that would make sense to do the same just in case god forbid I get a surge and it takes out all my equipment. Good call (thumbsup)!
  16. Okay, I have a question that I can't seem to get a straight answer on from technicians around here. First I have surge protectors in both rooms to protect my HT investment. They are both rated at 1080 joules. Is that enough? I have a HDTV, PS3, Wii, satellite box and my reciever plugged into the one in my main room and just a HDTV, DVD player and satellite box plugged into the one in my bedroom. The one in the family room seems to have worked flawless as everytime there is a storm, it will trip and shut everything down a few times which to me is showing me that it is working. But is that enough protection? Second, my surge protectors all have coax. connectors. I used to run my satellite wiring through that into my TV with the thinking that it was the best way to protect that line in case it gets hit by lightning. However, everytime technicians come into my home they tell me NOT to run the coax. cable through the surge protector for two reasons: one it distorts the picture, and two you don't need to do it because the line is already grounded. So what gives? Should I be running the coax. cables through the coax. connectors on the surge protectors, or should I just run them directly into the back of the TV and that is safe because they are grounded and as such I do not have to worry about electrical damage to my TV? As I said we get electrical storms here quite frequently and I know what I have is working because it shuts off and has saved my components I'm sure of it. Just need some direction on those two questions. Thanks!
  17. Can't wait to see this movie, trying to wait until Netflix carries it but that's still a few weeks away due to their agreement with Time Warner. Good to know so many people like it, I can't wait to try movies with great soundtracks since I just installed my side surrounds!
  18. Actually that's not quite 100% true. Netflix and Redbox have an agreement with Time Warner that any movies they come out with cannot be rented out by either Netflix or Redbox until they have been out for a full month. That agreement as far as I know is NOT applicable to the Blockbuster mail DVD/blu-ray program. I'm sure it was a move by Time Warner to try to drive up the sales of their titles vs. rentals which I'm sure doesn't net them nearly as much money. As far as I know, there is no other studio agreement like that in place with Netflix. Any other studio allows them to release their titles the same day they go on sale. Don't know if the Time Warner agreement is going to be a trend in the future but that's what currently exists. Hope that helps.
  19. To be totally honest with you, I have bought about 15 used or previously viewed discs fro gohastings.com and I have NEVER had a single problem with any of them. No skips, nothing wrong. If you have skips I would call them up and return them. They are pretty fair about return policies. Shit I even bought a disc from them and they sent me the wrong one accidentally and I contacted them expecting to have to return the wrong disc and they said keep it and they even sent me the one I ordered and refunded the shipping. I love that site and they have excellent customer service, and I mean where else can you buy blu-ray discs for so cheap? When I got my PS3 I thought I'd be buying discs like 1 a month since they are so freakin' expensive ($29.99 for a new one) but because of gohastings.com I have been able to slowly build my library up to the point of having about 15-20 blu rays in the few months since I've bought the PS3. I haven't paid more than $12.99 for a single disc I've bought and through their constant sales I've actually bought most of my blu-rays for $5.99-$9.99 and that's for pretty new titles. I mean right now you can get Terminator:Salvation for under $12 used IIRC. I love it! Now Netflix on the other hand, I can't count how many times I've gotten bunk discs from them. I even got a disc a few weeks ago that was completely cut in half when it came to my door. WTF? I've gotten discs that skip, just stop for no reason in the middle of the disc (get stuck and won't play), broken, etc...But I guess that goes with the territory, aka, when you're sharing discs with so many other people. At least they have a good return policy, i.e., if its defective you can report the problem and they'll send out a new disc ASAP with no questions asked. I just wonder how I get discs that are cut in half, like it must have happened during delievery I would think. If they miss something like that in their warehouse that's scary lol.
  20. This post makes me wonder how bad my setup is in all honesty. I messed with the factory settings to get to a picture I liked but I'm sure if I had someone do it professionally it would be 100x better. But I can't justify spending $250-300 for that really. It sucks because I want the best pictures I can possible get but there's no way I could convince the wifey to drop that much money to adjust the TV settings. Wish there was some kind of guide in regards to what are "optimal" settings generally for the Sharp Aquos I had but I'm sure its just like anything else, can't generalize because there are too many variables. Oh well.
  21. I paid the extra few dollars a month to get all my movies from Netflix in blu-ray to be honest. Couple that with finding an amazing site to buy blu-rays (used or previously viewed I have never paid more than $12 for a movie from this site, gohastings.com) I rarely watch regular DVDs. However, I have so many standard DVDs in my collection I still watch them from time to time, and honestly with the PS3 the upconversion is pretty damned good. Obviously it's not like blu-ray but I can deal with it ok for the time being. I'm not quite a blu-ray "snob" yet []
  22. I assume I would have HD sound since I am using HDMI cables from blu ray and satellite box to receiver is that correct?
  23. BluBitRates - I don't mean to threadjack or sound dumb (lol) but what is the advantage of having multichannel inputs? Just curious...thanks!
  24. To me the PS3 is the best blu-ray player for the money. Wireless internet allows you to stream Windows Media player 11 through your PS3 (movies and music you stored), streams Netflix and obvioulsy does a tremendous job with blu-ray and upconverting regular DVDs. I haven't heard of a single person on this forum that didn't like the PS3 and from what I've read it is much more user friendly than a lot of the other blu-ray players in its price range that offer similar things. You can get the 120GB PS3 for $299, might be able to get the 80GB version for less (don't know honestly). I love mine, it loads extemely fast as well, firmware updates help keep the system current....just love it and I don't use it for gaming at all. Just my .02. Good luck
  25. Got the replacement disc today, no problems whatsoever so obviously (whew) it was something wrong with the other disc. Crisis averted. Thank god lol
