  1. Hi Bill I see you didn't much help with the dynavector 10x5 in the last few days, maybe you should post this question on the Vinyl forum over at the Audio asylum.
  2. Where and to who do you sign up for the free K-horns, I'am a very nice guy and I would love a free pair.
  3. Only 52 people have looked at your post and it has only been 24 hours since you posted this, and it is the weekend, I would give it a few days before giving up on your post. I know you want feedback to your question, but people do have a life and have other things to do.
  4. Dean, I use my Heresy II's with a Mcintosh 225 or a Pilot 232 and a foreplay preamp and have always wondered what the Heresy II's would sound like with a set of Bottlehead mono blocks, but you are saying they wouldn't match up well?
  5. I use the Dynavector 10x5 with a Rega P3 and a seduction phono stage and the sound is very musical with lots of detail. I don't know how the Dynavector will sound with your set up but I'am very happy with the way it sounds on mine, I hope this helps.
  6. I know how you feel, I purchased a Rega P3 and built a seduction phono stage from bottlehead and didn't listen to my Ah! Njoe Tjoe tube CDP( which sounds great) for a year, records just sounded so much better. It is a illness and I don't think there is any support groups out there to get any help from, you just have to buy more stuff to make yourself feel better, It just never ends.
  7. Isn't a 2002 Heresy II speaker under a warranty, I thought I had five years on my pair, wouldn't it be better to contact Klipsch directly?
  8. Thanks so much for your replies to my question, I was wondering about using to good of a cap and losing some of the warmth of my speakers. The speakers do sound very nice the way they are and I will probably change out just one speaker at a time so I can A&B them and see if there is a improvement in sound with the new caps . I will probably use the Sonicap for the 1.5uf caps and Solen for the 68uf cap. I thought I would hear a lot more feedback about people changing out the caps in there Heresy II's, but maybe they like the sound of the speakers so much they don't want to turn the music off and change anything, well I guess if I don't like the sound of my speakers with better caps I guess I could put the old ones back in.
  9. I have a pair of Heresy II's (98&99 model year) and I pulled the woofer on one of them the other day and found that the crossover had two inductors, three 1.5uf 250v(blue),one 68uf 100v (purple) and what looks to be a transformer. These speakers sound great, but with all the talk about crossover upgrades, I was wondering could I upgrade the caps and have a even greater sounding pair of speakers. I know that these speakers are not that old and all the parts are probably still in spec., I just thought I would ask about my Heresy II's because you mostly hear about K-horns crossover upgrades. I have been looking for some replacement caps and about all I can find is the Solen and the Sonicaps in the 1.5uf 200v size, it seems that the Auricaps and other caps I might think about using go from 1uf to 2uf and skip over the 1.5uf value. I read where Craig (NOS) seems to like the Sonicaps in his amps and says he thinks they sound as good as Auricaps with a lower price tag, and I was wondering if any one has tried the Sonicaps in crossovers, or if any one has some better ideas or surgestions for me. Come on guys help me out if you can I would love to have a pair of K-horns but it will be a long time before I will be able to buy any and I will probably need a bigger house to fit them in first. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
  10. I'am glad you found yourself a AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000, have you heard one before, they have a nice sound to them without the upsampler. I might get a upsampler someday, but it will be a while, things for me have been a little tight for me in the last year, maybe this fall. I noticed that the Toshiba #3960 DVD that everyone is talking about has the 24/192 upsampler already built in and the whole thing is $50.( go figure), i'am sure it dosn't sound as good as the AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 with or without the upsampler. Good luck with your new CDP.
  11. Steve, Glad to hear you like the upsampler in the AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 I was wondering what people thought about it, I did a search on a couple of forums and not much was said good or bad about it. I have bought a number of items from Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio over the last five years or so and I must say he has always treated me good with what I purchased, but I was having trouble forking over $349 for another circuit board to make my CDP sound better, but maybe it is worth it.
  12. I was at the local Best buy today and saw the Toshiba #3960 DVD that cost around $50 and everyone talks about sounding so good. The unit was so thin ( about a inch) that it is hard to beleive anyone could do a lot of tweaking with so little room under the hood, but I quess people do, it did look nice for the money with its silver case, if I just needed a CDP I would probably buy it.
  13. You know I have thought about upgradeing my AH! Njoe Tjoe 4000 with the 24/192 upsampler, but at $349 extra that is hard to spend it already sounds great the way it is.I have heard that the upsampler takes it to a higher level, but how much of a higher level, I mean I can put a DCC cd remastered by Steve Hoffman and it's like the artists are right in the room with you, and that is with no $349. upgrade.
  14. I have thought about buying one of those $50 Toshiba DVD players just to see if it sounds as good as everyone says, but I have a good CD player (AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000)and a good DVD player,so it is hard to spend the $50 just to try it, maybe i'll have a chance to hear someone elses that bought one to use in there system.
  15. The AH! Njoe Tjob 4000 is based on a consumer grade CD player, but from what I have read the transport is suppose to be the same transport that is used in very high dollor units. I also have read that the case and the transport are the only things they use of the Marantz CD-4000 consumer grade unit, the cicuit boards that hold the vacuum tubes and the transformers are all changed out and basicly the unit is a highly tweaked unit, to give it that close to analog LP sound ( a warmer detailed sound),and to me it works at doing just that. I must add that in the April 2005 issue of Sterophile Mag. that this player is a 2005 recommended component. I choose this player for myself because I wanted a high end sound with out paying two or three thousand or a lot more. Upscale audio is the only place in the USA that you can by this unit new, you can find out a lot more about this player at WWW.upscaleaudio.com .
  16. Craig, Thanks for your reply, what do you think of the sound, compaired to the EH and NOS. Thanks !
  17. Thanks for the reply about the new JJ7591's, I was hoping for a few more replies but I guess no news is good news. On the JJEL84's I do use the El84 tube in my Pilot 232 and I would love to try that tube, but I have to use a EL84 that has a very low current draw because of the voltages that are going to the plates and I beleive I checked on the JJEL84 and the current draw on those tubes was to high, at least they were a few years ago when I bought my last quad, I might check again to see if they have any that are a low current draw. I have had very good luck with the Russian EL84/6P14PEV they sound very good and have the low current draw I need, I would love to hear the JJEL84's just to hear how they sound in my Pilot. Thanks again !
  18. The AH! Njoe Tjoeb 99 is the old model that is the one that came out before the 4000 and the 99 is probably about four years or older I heard the old model sounds great too, but I would be wondering how many hours it has on it, and buying used you are taking more of a chance with no warranty.
  19. I would second the AH! Njoe Tjoeb at $699 it is a little over your budget of $600.,I have one and love it. I also noticed in the new Audio Advisor cat. that I got yesterday a new model Marantz CD5400 CD player for $299.99 that looks a lot like the old Marantz CD4000 model that is used for the AH! Njoe Tjoeb upgraded unit, it could be the 2005 model,it might also be something to look at,at less than half the price. You might be able to find a local Marantz dealer that has one to look at.
  20. I did a search of this subject and did not find much out. What it is that I have is a Mcintosh 225 and I really don't have a tube size issue like a lot of folks with Scott amps, what I do have was a problem with the EH tubes lasting a few hundred hours and than all of a sudden having what some call a run away tube (cherry red plates), it hasn't happened recently but it probably has happened four different times in the last four years. I have cleaned and tightened the tube sockets and checked out other things and just when I think everything is fine, all of a sudden there goes another tube. What I would like to know is from Craig and others that have used the JJ 7591 tube for the last six months or so is what do they think of the tube, any trouble, and how do they sound compared to EH and NOS tubes, I just thought that after these new tubes have been out for the last six months that people should have at least a few hundred hours on them and know a little more about them. I have nothing against the way the EH tubes sound, I just can't help to feel that there is a QC issue with them, like I said I havn't had trouble with them recently, I just think maybe it's time to try something else like the JJ's if they are showing to be working good for others.
  21. You don't hear to much about Fairchild anymore, but back in about 1964 my uncle lent my farther a Mono sound system with a Fairchild Turntable and i'll never forget the sound of that TT, that was back when AM radio ruled and sound was not that good, to make a long story short, I was thirteen and I bought a LP "Introducing the Beatles" and after school I was in sonic heaven I heard detail in that LP I never heard before, it was my first venture into high-end audio and I will never forget the afernoons after school with the Beatles in my living room, that fairchild turntable was unreal.
  22. I'am just glad you didn't ask what kind of caps to use in your vintage amp, boy the fight would be on then.
  23. I found it, sorry. What I always wonder about are the young people that go down the road with music so loud that you can hear it when you stop at a light three cars away and they have there windows up, there has to be some damage to there ears going on. I mean I like to play music loud sometimes put that is just crazy to play it that loud.
  24. I'am I missing something here, where is it ?
  25. I'll take a pair at $300., WOW Craig is such a nice guy to give such a great discount to the Klipsch forum memebers, most guys would only give a few hundred dollors discount, not Craig. Craig you are the greatest ! Can I get my pair in walnut, the checks in the mail.
