I read somewhere that you can get a kit from Klipsch that will make a Heresy II have the same specs. as the Heresy III. What I want to know is how much is it in price, is it worth it making it sound like a Heresy III, ( I already love the way my Heresy II sound ) []and who do I contact If I decide to make the change.

This is a very sad post, getting rid of your Klipsch speakers, very sad.

Back years ago there was a guy in Trevose Pa. Northeast of the city on Brownville Rd. called Trevose Electronics, I know the place is still there but I don't know if the guy is even still alive, I hasn't been in his store in 35 years. I would wait until Monday and call them before I go out there, to be sure they even still mess with them.

I like the sweet sound that my EL84's produce in my Pilot 232.[]

I own a Pilot 232 power amp and to me it sounds better than my Mcintosh 225, maybe it's the power tubes it uses(EL84). You don't seem to hear much about Pilot amps, but when you do, it's all good. I have yet to hear someone say they didn't like the sound of their Pilot amp. My Pilot 232 has sonics to die for, it ended my search for a power amp to use with my Heresy II's

Wow! "different colors in my tubes" what are you guys smoking, and where can I get some! Just kidding, my EH7591A's on my Mac 225 did the same thing when I first got them, some weird blue cloud inside the tube and after about 200 hundred hours it went away and I asked my tube dealer about it and I was told it was bad gases burning off and not to worry about, and I stopped worring about it because it made sense to me, and it didn't hurt anything and went away.

Thats the retail price for a new pair of Heresy II's and the last time I heard Klipsch still gives speakers with their speaker cabinets, maybe not as pretty but they will produce some nice sounds.

You might look at Sonicaps at Soniccraft.com , I used them in my HeresyII's and I did get a little bit clearer sound with them. Many people feel that the Sonicaps are suppose to be as good as the Auricaps at less than half the price.

I bought a pair of model year 1999 and I'am more than happy, at 54 years of age they are probably the last set I will buy or want, they are great.

Do you not hear a differents in tubes from different manufactures or from capacitors manufactures?

I know that there is some break-in audio, because I have built different amp kits and rebuilt vintage tube amps,I thought I did something wrong when listening for the first few hours, I been it sounded like crap, then between 10 and 20 hours everthing starts to fall in place and sound great. Also if you use Auricaps in your amp you better wait 50 hours for the thing to sound good. I know this is true because I can hear it, and other people hear the same thing. I know there are people out there that don't hear the same things because about three years ago I ran into a old TV and Radio repair man, and he was the only man in East Texas that still repaired old tube stuff still around and he worked in the bussiness since the second world war and he really beleived that all 12ax7's sounded the same, no matter if it was telefunken, RCA, or Mullard they all sounded the same, and that went for any type of tubes and caps too. The only thing I could figure was he didn't listen to any Hi-end audio in his life time or he didn't have good hearing, maybe all he heard in tube audio were the old five tube AM table Radios.

I got a Pilot 232 that was mentioned earlier and it is a very, very, sweet power amp, and my favorite. They are a little hard to get( took me two years before I won one on Ebay) but worth it. I knew after I rebuilt it that it is probably the last power amp I will want or need.

He dosen't look real happy to be a major, I guess even back then, he knew he would be happier building speakers.

Sorry, I thought they were over $1200., I must have that machine mixed up with another one I was looking at recently. I still wouldn't pay that much for a record cleaning machine for a colection of 300 LP's.

I would love to, but I can't afford the price tag, I use a $50. spin clean machine that seems to do a good job on my 300 Lps. I only have about $1200. in my Rega P3/2000, Seduction phono stage combo, It's hard to spend more than that on just a record cleaner alone. Maybe in my next life time.

You know everyone seems to talk bad about Radio shack once in a while, but I bet just about every audiophile in the country owns this meter. They do have a lot of cheap crap, but they do come in handy sometimes when you get in a jam and need some solder or some other off the wall electroic part or tool. I know I walk in to a Radio Shack at least once every couple of months, I try not to, but I do.

Now of course the speakers work best looking at you, your joking right!

I put mine on there side with the tweeters towards each other on milk crates about ear level about a foot from the wall and the corners of the room, it seems to sound the best to me, I don't know why it just does.

Dean, What do you use to glue the caps to the board? The layout looks nice.

Dean, Don't cut yourself short, anyone can just change out parts, knowing what parts work best together is what an expert like yourself is needed for. It seems that your work is highly regarded here in this forum, keep up the good work.

It sounds like the same old story that I have heard before, that Dean is a hero of the crossover world. I just hope that Dean dosen't start to wear tights and start to fly thur the air like Spiderman, boy wouldn't that be a sight.. All kidding aside it sounds like Dean does great work.

Rumor has it that Dean is going to be offered a long term contract to replace some guy named Paul that left klipsch in the last year or so, I don't know how much of this is true, it's just what I heard.

I bet Ebay won't do a thing about it, I know others that has contacted Ebay on such things and nothing ever comes of it. On Ebay and Audiogon it's " buyer beware".

All kinds of con jobs on E-bay and Audiogon, you really have to be careful, never bid more than what you think something is worth. Some people see a high bid on something and say to their self " Boy if Joe Blow is bidding that much it must be worth it" and get caught up in the bidding. If you relly want to pay just about retail for something at least a couple of years old, go to a pawn shop in Texas, no deals there.
