  1. Nu2tubes, kind of an interesting story, this guy is kind of a legend, I read about this place on the internet a few years ago, but never could ever find a way to contact him. Then one day, on the bay I found a listing and did a little research and found him! As the legend goes, he has a warehouse stacked floor to ceiling with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of NOS pieces. The people I have read about that have been to his place in Canada were in awe at the amount of brand new "vintage"equipment he has. In the past they also were not happy with his pricing. The piece I purchased in the past he was trying to sell for almost three grand. He seems to be having a fire sale as of late. He sells under the ebay listing sahand0. He may be selling under many different names on ebay. I found another ebay seller that was selling NOS from the same town in canada I would think it has to be him. Just contact him and offer him the average price that the part or piece sold for on the bay and he will likely sell it.
  2. Very sad news indeed!!! I see alot of vinyl in good condition where I live and they are only 99. cents. I can keep an eye out for, PM me some of your favorites and or most damaged and I will find a few for you. Good Luck
  3. Great for you!!!!! I love to hear when people try something new! My wife decided to teach herself guitar. It was fascinating to see the progression. Within a year she was pretty good. She can play the violin, so it was very easy for her. I have given a fender strat, P-bass, epihone hollow body, a washburn acoustic and an acoustic bass. Now she wants a D-29 and a country gentleman . She also has the only tube amp in the house....B.....!!!! I did hide the 65 vox continental I found at a junk store under a plethora of boxes, hoping she doesn't play that thing.
  4. Dtel there is such a place..... vintageaudiowarehouse.com
  5. Fascinating point about, " well over the first decade digital was engineered by........ " Is this why everytime I buy a copy of a CD I have that is a re release it sounds awful? does anyone remember the disclaimers on CD'S when they first came out... In most instances I purchase a new re release I feel sorry for the general public.
  6. We shall see, 40 pounds of cheese could? smell very interesting we shall see! As silly as some jvc products are, at over 2,000 new from what I have read, it may be worth a test run!
  7. Here's a front view. Hopefully it sounds OK any tips on turning on a NOS piece would be greatly appreciated.
  8. At least it will accept 10 guage wire without a fight!
  9. I have a jvc integrated that isnt to bad for a garage system. So I decided to purchase one of their units from the same era that is one of their TOTL "reference" pieces from the same era. One of their cd players from the same "vintage" and series recently sold for over 900 dollars. Very little info on these units on this side of the pond. Kinda fun opening a new old stock piece!!!!
  10. I think a lot of has to do with system matching . I think different speakers and amplifiers sound very different with different cd players. I have an older oppo that I dont like with some of my set ups but sounds o.k. with one of them. I have a HK unit that is very old that is my favorite by far in my main system. I read once that any new dvd/cd player would best such an antiquated unit. I dont believe this to be the case but this has to do with my listening preferences also. If you are using horn speakers with solid state I think some cd players can take some of the edge off. I have a NAD unit in another system which completly mellows out horns but does this to much. I suggest you try a few that you can turn around and unload if you dont like them just make sure they are in demand. Remember the search is the fun part! Good luck!!
  11. Thanks for the advice, gentleman!!! I should of asked these questions before I listed. About to take a bath on shipping on a vintage receiver. Ebay calculated 30.00 something for shipping, There shipping quotes are a bit off. Thanks again!!!
  12. Hello any advice would be great! I sold a preamp on ebay and asked for 15.00 handling charges plus actual shipping charges . Ebay automatically put a shipping charge which was low, and then at the conclusion of the auction sent an invoice to the buyer that didn't include my fee. Buyer paid very quickly so there was no time to intervene. How do I prevent this in the future?
  13. Thats funny, I dont think he does "appreciate" from what he has told me on how they are placed in his house. I think he is missing the little big picture as far as sound stage, imaging and depth of field and the "playability" these speakers have to offer, they are very forgiving on most recordings. But we all have too start somewhere, the Cornwall is a good act to start with!
  14. Apropos Jackson B!!!! I am laughing my a>> off!!
  15. when I was done working on them they were impressive, I tried to sell them twice for 700.00 but never had any interest. These were in like new condition when I bought them other than dusty, they were sitting for over 10 years unused, the first ding they had was when I was walking them out the door of the previous owners house! when my friend sells them someday I insisted that he puts them up for sale here first.
  16. The sad thing is he will never know, all of the hard work and toil you members have contributed directly, with the upgrades and ideas. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF YOU!!!!
  17. A friend was looking for klipsch speakers and lost out on some heresy speakers so I gave him my 1980 Cornwalls. The sad thing is these types of cornwalls CBR's were everywhere when I first started playing again with audio about a year and a half ago. Now that I am looking for a nice pair cbr 1.5's of course they are no where to be found! Before I sent them on their way I painted the bases black, staind the motorboard black, it was a little dull from age, installed a hard rock maple brace and added Mr. Crites caps (thanks BOB) I must say they sounded better then they ever did!
  18. I agree 100% maybe we can train your robot to sing through these "GALAXY" speakers I have heard of ?
  19. Boxx, good luck with your search, wish I could help! Seti keep the pictures coming when you can!
  20. Seti, late model 604's with the right magnets and phase plugs are a very good deal! For a vintage speaker they can even sound very modern. " like my tech said "they can crack your teeth"
