  1. Well diaphragms are on backorder currently and decided to just pull the midhorn out for the time being so.... what could it hurt? Just don't want to try if it is proven certainly not possible.
  2. Discovered the issue after swapping the horn into the other speaker and getting the same issue. Figure take it apart one more time see if there was something loose debris wise that I missed and the glue is separating from half of the cone of the diaphragm. Its not ripped or anything so question is can you glue these like you would a dustcap on a woofer (don't know how to do that either just saw that its possible)?
  3. Was thinking of doing that next, I figured since the crossovers just got back from Crites this week that part of the equation could be ruled out but of course weirder things happen. Will give this a go this week.
  4. Been working on getting these new to me KLF-20s restored. Crites crossover rebuild, titanium tweeters and reinforced the cabinets! Been listening to them and one of my mid horns gets really shrill and noisey which is really apparent with hard rock guitar riffs. I took the horn apart to inspect it for any dust or foreign objects of which there were none. Reassembled it and made sure all was tight but still the issue remains so guessing I'm in need of a new poly diaphragm? There a sonic issue just buying one? Was kind of expecting to see something to indicate it was damaged/ripped/dinged but looked perfectly fine!
  5. OK I will do this after I glue some of these panels! Was thinking of doing this but the full range audio going to the woofer had me pause after my already worrisome mishap
  6. So I'm in the process of taking apart my KLF-20 speakers for new crossovers and to reglue the cabinets. During this process I notice that one of the woofers has something loose trapped inside! Was exploring the back of the woofer cylinder with my finger and it definitely "opened" up into the cavity (voice coil area?) and managed to get a super small piece of solder out, about the size of kosher salt. Did I just brick my woofer? Don't have the components now to test while they transit to Crites for the crossovers.
  7. I just this morning stumbled upon the post about Klipsch offering this direct so forgot to even include that. The Crites tweeters in the KG 5.5 definitely made a big difference from the OEM ones that were in there so in your estimation the Klipsch tweeter upgrades are technically better still?
  8. I'm going to be picking up some reglued/braced KLF 20's which have updated crossovers. One of the original woofers was cracked when he got these and purchased a "KLF 20 woofer" replacement on eBay roughly 10 years ago for it. He stated that indeed it was a different part number and the magnet was definitely smaller but couldn't tell any audible difference, only reason these are for sale is downsizing and he has KLF 30's. I understand that these are no longer available for replacement at Klipsch, and I see on eBay there is a company that makes woofers to "spec" for these guys. There happens to be a perfectly good working set of KLF 20's in the area which I could technically purchase and part out/sell but would that make me a horrible person parting out perfectly good, albeit not reinforced or capacitor replaced speakers? Currently have KG 5.5's with Crites crossovers and titanium tweeters, these are going to the rear of the room for these KLF 20s. Was going to do the same titanium treatment for these guys however see the MAHL drop in horns appear to be game changers. Am I destroying a classic car with updated suspension and airbags etc here? LOL It appears to me that these series of speakers were excellent as is but kind of nerfed to make sure they didn't outshine other Klipsch speakers and perhaps these machine drop ins could really bring these up a notch. What do you guys think here?
  9. The price range for these guys is wild out there. Anyone have a set collecting dust that needs a new home? Someone not too far from me selling 20s with Xovers done, crites tweeters, reglued and braced for $950 but seems like its a little high vs others sold on here?
  10. Still have these? What is the location?
  11. Currently have two KG 5.5s with Crites crossovers and titanium tweeters and a RC7 which I think sounds great. Been occasionally poking around for some KLFs and there are some 20s for sale. I understand these are threeway so perhaps the difference in sound will be more significant. Anyone have experience with this? Was thinking perhaps a titanium tweeter would help a bit. Don't think I want to do those machined drop in tweeters as they sound like they're amazing but are really going to change the sound. Plan on kicking the KG 5.5 to the rear replacing the RF82's.
  12. Upgraded a few components in my home theater so these are in good working condition in need of a new home. Klipsch RC3 Center ($100) Cabinet is in very good condition, previous owner mounted to the wall so the hole on the bottom was for that. Missing the Klipsch emblem. Klipsch SW-350 8" Subwoofer ($100) Purchased new and in near mint condition. Lower end but a good performer and received better than similar low end lineup. Comes with spiked feet! Klipsch KSW15 15" Subwoofer ($300) Original owner, very good condition and still works great. Comes with spiked feet as well. I can provide more/better images if requested just trying to get these up and out there on all the sites... almost as much work as getting the new hardware!
  13. Inland Empire area but can certainly move around for a good deal.
  14. As the title suggests, hoping some poor soul is in need of selling one of these!
  15. I will buy that RC-7 ASAP if you still have it. Best friend lives in Kearns and is coming out here in a few days!
  16. So, I asked a question earlier last week about some Forte's vs RF-3's and unfortunately missed out on a GREAT deal on the Forte's cause I just didn't get back to the seller quick enough. With that said, I'm wondering what exactly to go with if another good deal arises since I am in SoCal with folks trading speakers for food more or less. I'm upgrading (maybe downgrading..) from an Onkyo 702 to the Onkyo 608 for the HDMI capability however lose out on the ability to use an amp, but feel that 100 watts RMS is plenty to piss my neighbors off currently. What do you Klipsch junkies recommend for the fronts as it's the last set I REALLY need to replace? Recenlty someone posted some Epic CF-3's which look sick but I fear the lack of power may diminish my returns. Thanks for your input!
  17. Even on a DLP TV? I have a 65" Mitsubishi so that would be a problem considering how much space the TV takes... My goal is RF-7's when I find some for a good deal!
  18. The crease goes from left to right across the cone on 1 of each of speakers 2 woofers. If they are not making the scratching noise when pressed, how much does reconning cost, where would one get that done and can they use the same copper conning material to do so (aesthetically matching the other 2 of course! ) Thanks for your time and input! Brad
  19. I have found a good deal for both a set of RF-3's (which need need 2 new cones & some grille pegs) and some Fortes which are more expensive but are in pristine condition. I don't need both of these and obviously a bit different age/technology wise... Which would be a better choice for my front main speakers?
  20. I'm looking at a used pair of RF-3's that have a good price but have a crease in one of the woofers on each speaker. How much does that look to alter the speakers audio quality, is this strictly a cosmetic thing maybe? Thanks for any input!
