  1. Will post pics soon. Can't edit to try out the multi XT !
  2. Im not trying to bash emo with this at all and i don't even own the umc-1. I just don't fully understand the loyalty to emo. You had to have it replaced once already. You needed a professional To help with setup. Yet you can't wait to hand emo $900 for their latest installment of a pre/pro sight unseen and with a history of problems on their last pre/pro. You are looking at emo's price point and some how determining that their prices for the pre/pro are some how better than everyone else's based on a business model that includes constant returns, refurbishments, and apparently terrible BETA testing. I love my emo amp and really thought about the umc-1, but I just need to see more from a quality standpoint before spending my hard earned money on a product with that kind of track record.
  3. Acoustic sound design. Call and they will give you 15% off their website prices.
  4. Not sure yet. Not paradigm. I'm looking at psb, hsu, and epik right now but not making a decision until my subs are sold. I'm not really in a hurry since I love the digms and I don't even have an avr right now! Lol
  5. Actually I have 3! Lol. I put them up for sale cause I think in gonna change my setup to 1 big sub I think if they sell. They are actually great little subs. If you can get 1 for $200 that's a steal. Assuming good condition. I paid. $350 each for all mine but they are in perfect shape.
  6. That's a killer setup. I have the same avr... Well I will have it in a couple days anyway. As for the sub. Is your RCA hooked up? The onkyo has a setting under speaker setup to let it know if you have a sub or not. Check to see of that's on. Where did u score the onkyo from? I ordered from onecall for $500.
  7. Why ? There are alot of great DVD's and Bluray concerts, multi channel music sounds great on a system set up properly for Ht. Maybe he doesn't listen to music? Anyway, subxero is right about the crossover point and power. However keep in mind if you cross your speakers at 80hz your not taking full advantage of those bad boys.
  8. Since your going 100% movies I think the ultras would sound great. I had a local place to listen to them a while back and they sounded great. That's what they are made for. Not saying that the rf7ii's wouldn't sound great as well.... Tough choice
  9. Well I think you'll find there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum and that you won't need someone to help you in person. BTW, where did you pick up your speakers?
  10. U dont "need" to upgrade. Your speakers will sound fine with that avr. You may want to get an external amp or a new avr with more power someday to get more bass out of the 8 inch drivers though. I would use them on your current avr first that way you can at least compare contrast if u do upgrade.
  11. Not trying to sell you on the wf14's but don't live by "specs". The funny thing id most people on this flrum will tell you to cross your speakers at 80hz anyway so why would you even need a larger driver? The wf14's with the right sub can sound big.... As mine do with a low powered 10 inch sub no less. Rb61's are nice speakers but honestly the vinyl veneer doesn't look as good as the wf series. It's not bad... Just not as good. Not sure why they don't make a 6 inch wf option. EDIT... Of course I think the rb61's will sound great... Don't get me wrong. Are you going to use 3 rb61's across the front?
  12. I love the 3100. I bought 3 of them! Lol. Paradigm speakers are awesome. Never heard the tb 81's but many times have heard the rf82's which were also awesome. I feel like the digms are more laid back than the klipsch horns so probably depends on what kind of sound your dad likes. In my bedroom and livingroom setups I use 3 klipsch WF 14's as my front 3 with a 3100 in both cases. They both sound great. I feel the wf's really keep things sounding wider and just big compared to what you would think a 4.5 inch speaker would sound. At $199 a pair they r a deal too.
  13. So are we also pointing the finger at the emotiva cables as being the culprit?
  14. Make sure all other cables are unhooked. Only hdmi should be in use. Are the speakers hooked up to your avr? Is your avr set to correspond with the input you hooked your cablebox too? For example you hook your cable box up to the CABLE hdmi slot so you need to set your avr to "cable". Is your volume turned up? Could be a bad hdmi port too so try another input and change the input on your avr to the same. Are you sure your hdmi cables are good? How about the hdmi input on your tv? Maybe try a different port.
  15. Ok this couldn't be easier. Do this step by step. 1. Run hdmi cable from cablebox to receiver. 2. Run hdmi from receiver to tv. When it's set up like this the onkyo will be powered on and off with your tv. I don't think this works unless your using hdmi. Not positive about that but that's my guess.
  16. Are the RF-83's better than the rc7's? I mean are they an upgrade or more lateral?
  17. Your onkyo remote will work. Program it to work with your cablebox and tv. When u power on your tv the onkyo will automatically. Works when powering off too. Can also change channels on your cablebox.
  18. Run all components cable box DVD ps3 bluray ect. To your receiver then 1 hdmi from your receiver to your tv. That's it. Simple
  19. That's a great deal if it's an rc64ii. But in the end you should go with the speaker that matches your others. Rc-7
  20. Well... The feet are Very different. The grill's are different. The drivers are very different. Don't know if the cherry is different or not. Your one saving grace is that your room is so long that your 63's will be quite far away from the 62's
  21. I have the onkyo 509. It's a quality avr. Should be able to provide plenty of power for sporting events. I only use mine in 3.1 mode as it's not my primary HT avr but I do like what it offers for the price. I use the onkyo remote for my tv, the onkyo, and my cablebox. When I power off the tv the onkyo shuts off and same when I power on the tv. I also run my bluray, apple tv, and cablebox into the 509 and just 1 hdmi from the 509 to the tv. While it is only a 5.1 it can be made into a 7.1 with an external 2 channel amp. Full iPod connectivity.
  22. The visual aspect would bother me. I'm sure I couldn't tell the difference in sound
