  1. thanks for the replies I took a better look at them today, hooked up in the garage with a basic Onkyo 50x2 receiver these things screamed - AMAZING. All of the drivers seem to work perfectly and appear in good physical condition - I pushed them for a bit and no issues. The cabinets do need some TLC for sure I am going to start on the glue process this coming weekend and remove the screws that were added. I'll keep you all posted. Yes I would only part these out as a last resort.... they are WAY too much for my living room, and I recently replaced my KG5.5's and KV3 with a nice find - Oiled Walnut Forte and Academy Center, upgraded all 3 with crites tweeters and my brother is now using the KG5.5 and KV3 which was a significant upgrade from his Paradigms. I bought the KLF30 wiht the intention of repair and sell - could use the cash but also wouldn't mind trying some of the other heritage lines.
  2. Hi Folks - Went to a moving sale today and picked up a pair of KLF30s, they are medium oak and cabs are probably 5/10 they have a few water stains/marks on top some chips but I think some of it will clean up OK. The grilles are bad - the frames are OK but in my opinion not worth saving, just re-do. The guy let me test them all of teh drivers seemed to work fine, he did confirm that he had some cabinet rattle issues and he had put in corner blocks but in rookie fashion as he pointed out the screws are exposed from outside of the cabinet. I am debating what to do wtih these - my intention was to fix them and sell towards something in the heritage line, I really would like Cornwalls some day. Do I leave as is and use or sell as beaters, do i invest in a better less visible cabinet fix/glue and new grill cloth, etc? what do these realistically go for? I know parting them out would be an option too but I don't know I could stomach doing that knowing they have potential. Thanks for any info you can provide.
  3. THanks all for the input - when you purchase the Klipsch AW series from an authorized dealer - they are actually covered by lifetime warranty. So I called Klipsch and they asked me to send them back and my expense, a nice gentleman called me about a week later to say the replacement tweeter was on backorder with no ETA, so would I mind if they sent me a new pair instead! Seriously what awesome customer service. Several years later and they send me a brand new pair. Awesome.
  4. THanks everyone for the input - since this was for extended family I did $400 for the 5.5's and KV3 - these were all well loved, but I much prefer the Forte/Academy combo.
  5. Hi folks - I have a chance at a pair of Heresy through a family friend. They are likely early 80's - have the copper badges - code is "HWO" - the walnut is near mint condition I cannot find a flaw and it was regularly oiled. These are from the original owner and he has the original brochure, sales reciept, etc- no boxes unfortunately. It has the brown cane grilles which I like a great deal. It does not have riser option. He is asking $500 which seems slightly high, I know he declined an offer for $350, sounds like from a mutual friend he is targeting $400 - is that still fair? Can I recoup if I decide they are not for me? THanks for any info you can provide - James
  6. Hey all - I've had this pair since new almost several years now - one of the tweeters kicked it and looking for a replacement - all I can seem to find is a part number 834O which doesn't seem to come up with any hits? Any help appreciated.
  7. I have a pair of AW-500 that I purchased 6 years ago they endure the tough New England winters and we use them extensively poolside during the summer and then through the spring and fall. I get more compliments from people who come over as to how good they sound - I agree - they are excellent and would not hesitate to purchase another pair. When I was shopping I remember it being a big price jump from the AW400 to the AW500 but after listening the bit of extra mid-bass was well worth it.
  8. Anyone else on this forum have another single one to sell?
  9. Hi folks - nothing to sell immediately, but looking for some guidance on pricing. I recently had the fortune to find a pair of Oiled Walnut Forte1 and a few days later an oiled walnut Academy center. This trio has replaced my long standing living room KG5.5's and KV3 center that I've loved since new. I have an extended family member that would like to purchase the package from me: The KG5.5 are medium oak in excellent cosmetic and functioning condition - all stock The KV3 is black and excellent functioning condition and a couple of minor nics - all stock I never thought I would be parting with these items, but I have re-fallen in love with music again with the fortes! Thanks for any input you can provide.
  10. Hi all - Fairly new member - My living room setup has been a pair of KG5.5 (w Crities tweeters), KV3 (w/ Crities tweeter), and RS 41ii surrounds. I recently acquired a pair of Forte (1) in Oiled Walnut - they are near mint, after hooking them up I even had a vote from the wife as to how much better they sounded over the KG5.5. The rest of my L.R. equipment is a NAD T748 and Paradigm PS1000 sub. I'd like some opinions on a couple of things... 1. Center channel - I Have a chance at an academy center - is this a preferable match center to the Fortes over the KV3? 2. Surrounds - the RS41 are nice, but they've always struggled to keep up wiht the 5.5's - I fear they will have the same issue wiht the Fortes - what are smaller or mid sized surrounds that would be a good match? I was thinking something like the RS-35 or RS-3ii would have an edge just because of the greater efficiency? Would love some opinions! I know people here like the equipment as much as I do as well - so here is some other goods I have.. Thanks! James
  11. Greetings - I am now a "Two Pair of Klipsch" house having had my KG5.5s for many years recently acqiured a pair of oiled walnut Forte (1)'s. I am in the process of refurbishing the cabinets and they are looking great, grilles are in great shape - and all of the drivers look and seem to function great, with the exception of one of the passive radiators has some cracking and one spot where there is a split right through the surround - i've googled and read about people using RTV silicone and other things to repair - one friend suggested liquid electrical tape - wondering if this is a common issue and what others may have done! Thanks! James
  12. Hi all - I acquired this about a year ago as part of a package deal - I am keeping the Marantz 2265b that came with it. This is a McIntosh MA5100 Amp/Pre-Amp. I am the 2nd owner, I got the original owners manual with it. It has never been serviced - only thing ever done as far as I know is I removed the glass plate and replaced two bulbs and deox all pots and switches. It is a beefy unit it has the walnut wood case. Cosmetically I'd say 9/10 - there is no pitting on the chrome, all decals are there, glass faceplate is in excellent condition. Mechanically sounds excellent - I am sure as with any 40+ year old equipment it will need service at some point to be optimal. I am asking $575. I'd consider trades, partial trades, etc for Klipsch Forte, Forte 2, or Chorus 2 - prefer Black finish but consider all. I am located in Southern Maine, but have no issue traveling some. Would rather not ship given the condition but if someone is very interested and wants to pay shipping and for it to be custom packaged and insured we can discuss.
  13. Have a pair of KG4 in oiled oak for sale - I am the 2nd owner of these beauties. The cabinets are 9/10 - there are two small flaws which I have photographed where the veneer has small chips, otherwise in excellent condition. In great working condition - did have an issue with the dust cover for one of the passive radiators - the original got pushed in years ago and I attempted to carefully pull it out - instead removed it and replaced the dust cap. Otherwise all original. Located in Southern Maine but may be able to meet within reason NH or parts of MA.. Thanks for looking - James Willing to consider trades, been looking for an older Marantz receiver - something like the 2245, 2252, etc.. or vintage Boston Acoustics like A200, T1000, etc...
  14. Hi folks - thanks for the e-mails and replies. I am still looking for something now I have learned a little more I think what I really want/need is some of the mid-sized something like RS-35 that are high efficiency and wife friendly size and also cost effective.. I need to be on the lower budget end of the spectrum. A friend passed along some Synergy S.1's and they don't keep up well with the KG5.5's thinking something like the RS series would do better. Thanks!! James
  15. I am currently using a pair of Paradigms and they just don't keep up with the rest of the system - anyone have a used pair of Klipsch surrounds they'd consider selling - maybe something that was leftover from an upgrade that could have a new home? Thanks! James
  16. can you post some pics of the surrounds?
  17. If you end up considering shipping these - please contact me!
  18. I have a chance to make an offer on some Cornwall2's - they are original owner - unfinished birch cabinets that were stained dark and in great condition, woofers appear to be in good order and though I did not hook them up I have heard Cornwalls before and always wanted some. I have seen these vary from $100-700 in our area over the past year or so and no matter what price it seems they sell quick. These are all OEM/stock no upgrades. He didnt have an idea asked me to make an offer to start the conversation. I see a couple of examples very recently of similar pairs that sold in our area in teh $400-450 range. I was thinking of starting the offer at $350? is that lowball? or fair starting place?
  19. Sent you a private message about teh Onkyo - thanks!
  20. Hi all - is this a fair price? I haven't had any interest here or on craigslist?
  21. Any interest? Make an offer? Need to clean out some of my extra goods and would like to see someone enjoy these vs. collect dust in my basement.
  22. Located in Southern Maine approx 1.5 hours North of Boston, willing to meet up in Southern NH area. Have (1) pair of Klipsch KG4.5 speakers Cabinets are 6-6.5/10 with a few nics on the front edges, grilles are pretty decent as well. These sound incredible. I am the 2nd owner and they work great I had an issue with one tweeter that was cutting out - I replaced the diaphragm with one OEM Klipsch diaphragm pulled from a working KG5.5 (idenitcal part). Just need to clean up shop - someone else can get more use out of these than I can.. $225/bo Would consider trades for Klipsch surround speakers (wall hanging style)
