  1. I am looking for the followig compression drivers: B&C DE85' B&C DE750 Radian 950PB Radian 951PB Selenium D405 Atlas PD-5VH Also looking for a few of the Fast-track Eliptrac 400 horns, and/or the Fast-track La Scala or Fast-Track Cornwall horns. I am also looking for several of the CW1526 woofers. If any of you guys might happen to have any of this stuff, please feel free to email me at Dandy870@yahoo.com or text me at (870)679-9618. Many thanks!
  2. I am highly interested in these, sending PM to the OP in just a few moments!
  3. So do you guys think that the B&C DE85 for use as a mid-range driver in the 3 way configuration, matted with a pair of Eliptrac 400 horns, would this sound all that much better than the Selenium D405 matted with the 2380? This is the question that I am trying to figure out. If the B&C DE85 + Eliptrac400 combo is worlds better or a complete night and day difference then I will go with them, if they are not all that much better than the Selenium D405/2380 combo then I will go with the later. So basically what I am trying to figure out is: B&C DE85 +Eliptrac400 versus Selenium D405 + M2380
  4. Hey guys, I am finally ready to start ordering the parts for my Cornscala build! But first, I would like to get some opinions on different driver and horn combos as I am on a budget. I will be building 3 of these and would like to keep the cost down to $800, or below, per speaker. Anyway, here are my questions: 1. Is the Selenium D405 as good as the B&C DE85? The Selenium is so much cheaper, I just want to make sure that the differences are too great because if they are, I can possibly upgrade from the D405 to the DE85. 2. Is Dave Harris' Eliptrac 400 horn all that much better than the JBL clone M2380 from Bob Crites? If so, would the D405 work with the Eliptrac 400? 3. Is the Selenium D220Ti the best tweeter for the money? If so, is the Selenium HM11-25 horn a good horn to use with this tweeter? Is the D220Ti a pretty good step up from the CT125? 4. Assuming that I use the D220Ti + HM11-25 with the D405 + Eliptrac 400 and the CW1526 woofer, what would be a good crossover to use? Would the "new style" cornscala crossover from Bob Crites work well with this? Or would there be a significant step up in performance by going with Alk crossovers? Looking forward to hearing your responces!
  5. Well the time is fastly approaching to build my Corn-Scala's that I have wanted for sooo long. I have some additional questions that I am hoping you guys can help me out with. First off, are there any other decent 2 inch drivers that would mate well with Dave Harris' Eliptrack 400 horn, but cost less than the $500 for the pair? My budget is getting kind of thin, and right now the best price that I have been able to find on the B&C DE750TN is $275 bucks each or $550 for the pair. That, coupled with the price of those Elip-Track horns, will cost over $1,000- for just the drivers and horns. Speaking of which, how do the B&C DE750TN's compare to the B&C DE85TN's or the DE250TN's, or possibly even Bob Crites CT-125? Another question that I have is how would a treo of Corn-Scala's with the DE750TN's mated with the Elip-Track 400's and 4 of the Dayton Pro-10's, sound, compared to a Corn-Scala with the K-402 horn with a Klipsch driver (not sure which one would be the best to use?) and the same 4 Dayton Pro-10's? To put it directly, how does the B&C DE750TN compare to the K-402 with what ever driver Klipsch uses? What about compared to the K-510 with the standard Klipsch driver?
  6. I say go with the best speaker that you can afford. The center channel is the most important speaker in the entire system, by quite a large margin. I would go with the Palladium over the RC-64ii any day of the week.
  7. Mrtie- Do not go around adding absorbion/diffusion panals blindly. You first need to measure your room in the time domain. RT60 calculations are useless and should not be considered by anyone with a theater setup in their home. Reverb is not occuring in your room. There is so much bad info going around with regards to room treatments that it totally blows my mind. I highly suggest you figure out how to measure your room/speakers in the time domain and use those measurements to determine where you need to put the treatments.
  8. Johnn5, can you tell me the specific model numbers of those four Dayton Pro-10's? I can't wait to get these babies up and running! I plan on purchasing all of the drivers and materials sometime in the next 3 weeks.
  9. Gothover, are you saying that if I go with the 4 Dayton Pro-10's, that I wont get any additional extension over the standard Cornwall 15? What about additional SPL? Hm...if that is the case then I may very well end up going with the stock Cornwall 15. I just thought that having four 10's would make them dig a little deeper and probably sound a little better for home theater then a stock 15.
  10. I know that if I go with 4 of the Dayton Pro-10's that I will have to change the box size, not really all that worried about that. I plan on having Dave do the motorboard and Ill build the box, if hopefully Dave can supply me with the proper specs for the woofer box.
  11. I am just curious as to how you guys feel about the woofers. I am more than likely going to use 4 Dayton Pro-10's just like Johnny5, but I can't help but wonder if those are the best choices? I might look into woofers from Eminance, Seas, TC Sounds, ect.....Heck, I could go with two or maybe even four 12's or 15's! I kind of want to do something unique and rare. What do you guys think?
  12. Wow Fastslappy that is the same approach that I am taking with my Cornscala build. I am building mine from the ground up though and instead of using a single 15 inch woofer, I am using 4 Dayton Pro-10's, just like Johnny5. Definitely keep us updated as I am very interested in knowing how you feel that the 2 way versus 3 way debate turns out!
  13. Ok so I am pretty much decided on going with a 2 way design, as I have yet to find a single person who says that they prefer the 3 way design. I will most likely be going with the B&C DE750TN drivers with Dave's Eliptrack horns, and 4 of the same Dayton Pro-10s that Johnny5 is using. I am going to have Dave cut the motorboards and I am going to build the cabinets myself. I am really looking forward to doing this, but, it will be a few weeks before I start. I will definitely take pictures and keep all of you guys updated on throughout the entire process!.
  14. Thanks for the replies, Johnny5. Which horn are you using with your B & C DE85TN drivers? I am kicking around the idea of going with a 2 way design using B & C DE750TN drivers mated with the Eliptrack horns that Dave builds, (I believe the Eliptack 400 is the one I am referring to?) along with either 4 of the Dayton Pro-10's or 2 of the Eminance 15's (not sure of which specific Eminance drivers, any suggestions?) Do you think this would be a fairly high performer?
  15. Johnny5, so you are using Dave's Eliptrac horns with the B&C DE85TN drivers in a 2 way configuration? What are you using as the bottom 4 drivers that I saw in the pic that you posted? I am interested in using that same horn and driver combo as well. Might even go with a custom cabinet that houses Daves horns with the B&C DE85TN drivers and four Dayton or Em 8 inch, or even 10 inch woofers. What do you guys think about that? If I do go that way, how would I figure out what specs to build the cabinets to? I see where Bob Crites has a custom CnC machine now and is offering fully built CornScala's in three different configiurations, so with that being said, I am sure I could talk him into building the cabinets to house all of those bad boys. Oh and yes, I will most likely be going with an active crossover.
  16. I will definitely look into the K-510 horn with the K-69 driver. I am interested to hear what other driver/horn combo's might be better though? What do you guys think of the horns that Dave Harris is selling? What about the B & C horns and drivers, or the Fatel horns and drivers? Can anyone give me a little of you subjective opinons on these other horns and driver combo's? I appreciate the replies from Coytee and Daddy Dee, just looking for some additional information and opinions on the B & C/Fatel/Dave Harris options as well.
  17. Thanks for the replys guys! Like I said, I am pretty set on going with a pair of 3 ways in leu of 2 ways. I feel that for a 2 way to sound its best, you need to have a big room and sit at least 10 feet back from the speakers My room is small and I wont be sitting very far back nor will I be able to put them in the corners. Do you guys think this sound logical?
  18. I am pretty set on going with a 3 way over a 2 way, although I might be convinced to do so My room isn't all that big, approx 18 x 14. It has always been my opinion that to get the best out of a 2 way design over a 3 way design, you would need to have the speakers at least 10 feet apart and be sitting fairly far back. Assuming I go with the 3 way, what are the better drivers to be used?
  19. Coytee, tell me a little bit about this Klipsch K-510? Is this a horn or a driver? From what I can tell from doing a quick search, this is the tweeter that was/is used in the Jub, correct? I wonder how this would sound in place of a La Scala midrange and tweeter?
  20. Hey fella's, I am new to this site and the whole DIY Klipsch Heritage scene in general, so please bear with me and be nice. I am looking to build some Corn-Scala's from the ground up, and need some suggestions on which driver combinations to use. I know that I definitely want to go with 3 ways, and I will most likely be running these active. For the Midrange drivers and horns, I really have no idea of what would be best. I was thinking of using the B&C DE-85TN drivers with one of Dave's wooden horns, just not sure of which models to go with? Is that midrange driver pretty good? Is the wooden horn from Dave a good combination with that driver? Any other recommended driver and horn combo's that would be better? For the Tweeters and their horns I am also kind of in the dark. I was recommended the B&C DE-10 with its stock horn that comes with it. Either that or Bob Crites CT-125 tweeters, not sure what the recommended horns for the Crites tweeters would be?? Also, I have heard the B&C DE-250 is a pretty good tweeter, what do you guys think about those? If I do end up going with any of these, which horns would you recommend that I use? For the low end, I have been told that an Emminance 15c driver is pretty hard to beat. How do you guys feel about this driver? I might even add two, if I can find someone to help me with the motor board and cabinet dimensions. Speaking of which, does Bob Crites do custom cabinettry?
  21. How faris Knoxville from memphis? Im not too far from memphis (about an hour or so depending on trafic)
  22. Ok so Im looking for anyone north of little rock all the way up to the missouri state line, and east of mountain home. Preferably somewhere within a 2-3 hour drive from the jonesboro or walnut ridge area. I have no local dealers to audition any of the heritage line so if anyone out there reading this could help me out, like I said, Ill provide the beer or drinks of your choice as well as pizza of your choice in exchange for an audition.
  23. LoL that may be a good idea. Think Ill do that right now!
  24. Can you please elaborate on the differences between the sounds of say the rf83/64 combo and a la scala trio? Like I said originally, the rf83's didnt offer that punch, the envolipment, soundstage, and wow factor that I have been desperatly searching for. Maybe it was the equipment that the dealer had them hooked up to, that being an 1800$ marantz receiver. Iv never liked marantz stuff...too laid back. I like my system to be somewhat bright and in your face. I can actually get a pair of la scala's for less than I can get the rf83's used. And no I dont have to check with my fiance, currently living in a rent house while I finish up the last little bit of grad school. After that I plan on building a nice sized house with a dedicated theater room and at which point Ill have a screen to go infront of the speakers. But even if I didnt she still would not care, as she appreciates a good movie expirence despite what the speakers actually look like. Thanks so much guys, its nice to have a place to discuss things with the folks who love klipsch.
  25. A man date to drink some beer, eat some pizza and listen to speakers....now that sounds better than the first date I had with my fiance 5 years ago! Hope she doesnt read this! Anyway its about an 8 hour drive from where I live to chicago. Havent made that trip in years. The only place I go to very often in ill is Marion. Question: have they built any new roads or anything within the last several years to make the trip quicker? Im not familiar with the roads in ill, all I know is that when you get to siskston missouri instead of hitting 55 you go straight down 60? Not sure which roads you take after that. But man Im chopping at the bits to hear an all heritage home theater setup!
