  1. Ooops! Didn't realize this thread was that old. Thought it was recent! Thanks for the links tho!
  2. Nice writeup! I've never seen the WF 35s in person. I dodn't realize how small they were compared to the 82s. I can def see how they have a high WAF. Now I see you have a nice receiver but do you think your opinion of the speakers would change with an amp? Especially the 82s? Open them up more in the midbass area? I was just wondering. But it def looks like you're going to have a nice setup there!
  3. I can't find them either. Any links?
  4. Ahhh I see. I think the silver one is discontinued for that reason now. Don't think it was selling that well. I know at one point it was almost half the price of the black one. But I didn't even think of the leds. There's nothing you can use to cover the power button?
  5. Congrats! I bet that does sound awesome with the 7s as fronts and surrounds. You know they say you get the best sound with 5 identical speakers. But 4 is close enough, lol. How did you find the room for all of those 7s?? LOL. Oan I really dislike you guys.....you're all talking about how great things sound with floorstander surrounds......putting bad thoughts in my head. I have too many speakers as is. Smh.....I need to stay off of these forums before I try to find some RF 82 surrounds Congrats again on the 7s. Def post pictures and a video when you get a chance!
  6. What do you dislike about the APC unit. I know its huge but it should fit right in with all of the other huge equipment you have, lol. I was actually going to upgrade to the S15 unit. But with you dsliking yours i don't know. I'm curious to hear what you like and dislike about it......And don't feel bad. Our sitting area is in turmoil too! Looking for a receiver and tv and my surrounds are unhooked too because I'm going to upgrade the speaker wire. So I'm running 3.1 right now and yes the 7s do a great job at simulated surround sound!
  7. Congrats on your purchase! You will enjoy them! Let us know how they sound with the amp! Still working on my setup but here's a pic if mine.
  8. That is pretty awesome. My girlfriend knows how to operate the Hatmony and Sony Remote Commander 3100 remotes.......and she's actually into gaming. She doesn't really see the point of home theater yet....usually if she's in the room with me she asks if I'm deaf and then she proceeds to turn it down....one step at a time I guess. First gaming.....next imma try to turn up the sound gradually on the games....then we can work our way up to theater sound levels! lol. As far as adjusting the AVR settings I'm sorta selfish and don't want her touching it bc usually she ends up messing something up or resetting everything to default and messing up my trail and error settings [:S] But I'm happy for you guys with chicks or dames or broads or whatever you want to call them that are into the home theater hobby at least half as much as you are. Thats pretty cool and maybe one day I can work mine up to that level []
  9. Yes Inception is a great audio masterpiece which is why it was one of the first movies I tested on my 7s. After reading your post I may go crank it up tonight since I only playd bits and pieces of it when I tested my system. I also want to thank you guys for pointing out that the 2 disc Blu Ray comes with the soundtrack. I never realized that (I thought the other discs were just the DVD and digital copy discs) I actually listened to the soundtrack on Rhapsody and saved it to my library along with the Dark Knight soundtrack....but now I have to go pop in the special features disc and listen to it in true surround sound. This will be my first foray into multi channel audio. But if you have the chance to watch some more movies before the wife comes back then watch Shutter Island, Master and Commander, and Black Hawk Down....
  10. If you have the funds I would recommend an APC AV unit with battery backup. Reason being it also offers surge protection, avr etc but if you happen to lose power completely the unit will keep chugging along or if a power condition such as a brownout happens the unit will keep on chugging as well. The monster units are supposed to cut power when events happen. I'd rather shut down my equipment the proper way. Nonetheless Panamax has battery units as well. I can say my APC units have saved my tvs and PS3 game saves more than once during storms when the power flickered or went out.
  11. I second the statement that nothing bought used has a warranty since Klipsch ony warrants the orginal purchaser and only if they bought it from an authorized dealer. As far as the amp situation goes (i'm knocking on wood) I have 2 Sub 10s that I have had no problems with. One I got used so I really don't know whether it was abused or not.It had a couple of scratches on it but nothing major. Its still going strong after 2 years of daily use. Then the second Sub 10 I got I purchased new. Its also going strong after 10 months of daily use. Not sure if it was a certain batch of Sub 10s that had the fuse problem or not. Its probably a random problem unfortunately with so many people experiencing it and with there not being a correlation between the units (just specualtion on my part) but I can honestly say there are lots of Sub 10s out there that have never had any problems. Now as far as your sub having the problem I don't think it does because if I remember correctly the amp would blow the fuse instantly. Even if the seller replaced the fuse as soon as you turned it on it probably would have blown again. Only thing I can do is tell you what has worked for me which is to keep the gain at the 12 o'clock position (50%) or lower and adjust the levels using the AVR. I've pushed my subs pretty hard with movies like The Dark Knight etc and the levels have been way louder than needed. I don't think pushing the amp too hard had anything to do with them blowing fuses but you can never be too sure. Better safe than sorry. But don't let it worry you. Just enjoy your sub and if it does break then you can look at your options at that time. Depending on how much you spent you can either call Klipsch and see how much a replacement amp costs, find your own replacement amp on ebay (direct drop in replacement) or google bash amps (there is a replacement that would fit with a little modifying to the sub. You'll have to enlarge the amp opening a little) sell the sub for parts or just scrap it. Nonetheless I definitely think you will enjoy your sub. And hey do what I did. When I buy used I always set a timetable for how long I need to keep an item to "break even" or get my money's worth out of it. Of course the more I spend the longer I need to keep it (this is compared to buying new) So for example lets say a new Sub 10 costs $400 but you paid half of that. Lets say the warranty on a new sub is 5 years. Well in my opinion I would break even if the sub last at least 2.5 years with no problems and with normal daily use. Of course any time after the two year period is a bonus. And if you're able to sell the item after the 2.5 year mark for say $100 then the investment and risks were definitely worth it. So I would just set a timetable and enjoy the sub and your home theater! []
  12. I mean hidden or in view is solely a user's preference. I have my AVR in view because I don't have a choice. But if I had an equipment closet then I would have everything hidden. It just gives your theater a cleaner look IMHO. But it really doesn't matter as long as the unit has breathing room and as long as you have an IR repeater to control it if its completely out of view. (Or a way to control it without direct line of site whether by network etc) If you AVR is hidden and you're not having any problems then I say leave it hidden. Some people like to show off their equipment. Some don't. Just my 2 cents
  13. Thanks! Now can I borrow your amps for a few months? lol. Yes I'm enjoying them a lot! Once I complete this system I don't pla on upgrading for a long time. I haven't had a chance to play the Retrun to Forever Blu Ray on these yet.....because I left it at my parent's house. smh. Wanted to show them what their system could do. I need to go pick it up asap. Have you picked up any new concert Blu Rays?
  14. Now that was hillarious! Sorry I took us down this road. Lol! You took us down this road.....but I had a chance to veer off of this road....but I decided to stay on it! Couldn't resist. smh []
  15. Thank you and yes they do! The sound will only get better once I pair them with the right equipment!
  16. Thanks! And yes I love the wood on the front too! The 64 II takes the same approach and has all wood on the front too! Oan I looked at some Jubilees....they are hard to find.....but the price gave me a small heart attack so I decided to stick with the Reference line for now.....then I'll slowly work my way up to the Heritage line......and then the Jubilees! Thanks for telling me what kind of speakers those were when I first joined this forum!
  17. Nice clevage Thanks! And they're all natural.....and the support system is great which means no cones popping out or sagging. They will stay in place no matter what!
  18. Sorry! I get carried away but I always try to give as much info as possible....in case someone is on the fence about purchasing something. I guess I could have just said they were dynamic and loud and sounded great. [:$] Yeah thats the same reason I wanted another sub but until we move I may have to settle with one. Home Theater Magazine just had an article about subs last month I believe. Of course ideally you want 4 subs in each corner of the room but they wanted to test whether 4 small subs would equal 1 big sub. Believe it or not 4 8" subs were the most musical but lacked the oomph that you could feel.......the sweet spot was 2 12" subs......and one 15" sub had the most oomph but was the least musical......so you know what? I think you should just go all out and get 4 15" subs! LOL And yes I can't wait until I get the 64! I'm already going crazy at the thought of how great everything is going to sound once its all tied together. The cave is tied together and I haven't left it all day. About to order pizza....been gaming....playing music...watching movies etc.
  19. When you order them you're going to go crazy waiting for delivery! But yes seeing new gear show up always puts a smile on my face. It also puts a frowm on my face too though because for some reason stuff never shows up when I'm home. If I leave early in the morning and go do some errands then UPS wants to show up in the morning. If I go to work and come home throughout the day then they show up as soon as I leave somtime in the evening. If I sit at home all day and wait then they don't show up until 5pm or 6pm.....and if I don't come home at all from work then they show up at around 2pm. Its almost like UPS knows my schedule so that they can avoid me! But luckily with these no hassles. And thanks! What finish are you going to get?
  20. Luckily no they were not. Delivered via SUV lol. Shipping would have been crazy for these and I worry about UPS and FedEx sometimes even though the speakers are packed really well!
  21. Let me put the grills back on! Ohhhhh wait......all of my speakers are naked....nevermind. LOL. I just love the look without the grills...but once I start a family or have guests over that have kids I'll dress them all up. Can't have anyone messing with my cones. But wow a second 15? The bass will be amazing with a second one. I'm aiming for 2 SVS 13" subs but I'm sitting here looking at the space and it looks like I may be lucky to fit one sub in. But everything you have planned sounds great. Especially the screen. Putting the speaker behind the screen will give you even more of the "theater" feel if thats possible. Yes I should cancel my account because I had to hear it from everyone....."didn't you just buy some speakers? Why do you need some more? You have too much stuff. This stuff sounds fine" Even my mom was like why? LOL. I'm building it up now with the best I can get because I plan on making this system last more than a few years. I don't abuse my stuff and with the quality of Klipsch that shouldn't be a problem. Plus once I have kids I'm sure I'm going to need a getaway every once in a while and movie nights will probably mean staying at home and popping in a Blu Ray, lol. But let me give my impressions of the speakers though. The 7s are loud and have no problem filling the room with sound. I used the Inception Blu Ray as a test.....and wow.....the waves had weight to them....and the soundstage was wide even though i'm limited on space.....the waves traveled beyond the speakers. I had to crank up my sub level on the AVR because the 7s were overpowering the wimpy Sub 10.....but when I cranked it up the sub actually hung around pretty convincingly. The gain knob is still only set at the 12 o clock position on the actual sub so I'm impressed. The sub 10 is no slouch. Unfortunately I do have "dead" bass spots in the room. I can't really comment on the bass of the 7s yet because my AVR is ste to 80hz and I can't change it.....Fixed crossover.....so i can't wait to get a new unit that will give me more flexibilitybecause I'm sure the 7s will really come alive. My receiver is only pushing like 70wpc but I still couldn't turn it all the way up and I luckily never reached the point of clipping. The finish is superb. And yes they are heavy. I struggled and struggled with these things trying to move them. I think the cherry finish helps with the WAF. After letting my hearing come back I went to the cave and popped in Master and Commander......great test movie! The subtle creaks and groans of the boat and footsteps walking on the deck really impressed me. I actually muted the movie a couple of times because I thought the creaks were coming from the hallway! And then BAM! Cannon balls ripped through the boat and I had wood breaking all around me and the BOOM of the cannons shook the walls.....All of the speakers jumped to life with no problem. And all of this happened in the first 15 min of the movie! Then it was back to the subtle boat sounds and the sound of waves. But with the amazing detail being there the movie actually lulled me into relaxation and then BAM! I have a near heart attack as the cannons go off again and the battle begins again on the waters.....so after calming my nerves I went back up front and played Master on the 7s......same thing. Amazing ambient sounds and then the 7s sprang to life. The bookshelf speakers really tied both systems together. I had no name and Sony surrounds in the cave and up front respectively.....and while the ambiance was there I had to turn up the volume to get it. With the 25s and 61s I was able to keep the volume low....or at least I thought it was low until the battles began........I've never paid attention to the subtle sounds at home. I'm impressed because the bookshelf speakers perform as well as the RS speakers. I was dead set on getting the RS surrounds for my systems after hearing them in my parent's RF 62 system (recommended by your truly, lol) and then a lot of sites said bookshelf speakers didn't make good side surrounds......and I was underwhelmed by the Sony's......but now I see....as with anything else if you want performance you have to pay for it. I'm satisfied with the 61s and 25s as surrounds and I have scratched the RS speakers off of my list! But back to the topic on hand. The 7s also have that great dynamic range. They are definitely more forward....more in your face than other Klipsch Speakers. My 82s sound very laid back compared to the 7s.....BUT they're only in your face at moderately high volumes......and I can't really say if the in your face sound is the cause of my crappy receiver or not. And its too much trouble to switch the receiver from the cave just for testing so I'll have to update this later once I get a new one.....But at low volumes the detail is still there! The speakers still sound great and the soundstage is there.....but it seems to widen a little with volume but once again that could be my crappy receiver. I'm very impressed and I really don't see how I can drive these speakers too hard.....at least not without losing my hearing in the process. The tweeter in the 7s also brought out how crappy the noise floor is in my receiver.....I can hear that static sound when nothing is playing.....so they're definitely accurate and they won't hide anything! I peeked through the bass port on the back and saw the cast iron basket of the speaker. This thing is built like a tank. I think the only way to really break these is to take a sledgehammer to them....and even then they would probably still play audio just fine.....they would just be an eyesore of broken wood LOL. So I'm impressed and anxious....if I'm this impressed now then wait until I get the RC-64 II.....that will timbre match my soundstage and I'm sure once I get the amps and preamp the soundstage and dynamics will open up even more! Can't wait. But I'm done blabbing......and call me mean but I plan on giving the gf a heart attack with Master and Commander (evil laugh) I know if it made me jump then it'll probably make her pass out.....I think its the water and creaking of the boat. Those sounds lull you to sleep and then out of nowhere BAM CRACK CRACK YELL. lol. I would have been on guard if I was watching a scary movie.....nonetheless Master and Commander has been added to my home theater test list of Blu Rays which includes Inception and The Dark Knight. But I'm done blabbing! I'm about to continue enjoying college basketball.....the crowds and squeak of the shoes sounds amazing.....in addition to the bands. I really want to call in to work on tuesday! LOL.
  22. Haha thanks! And the box pic was supposed to be a teaser while I uploaded the rest of them. Had to resize my pics one by one bc I took them at 10 mp.....so i was over the file size limit. Finally got them up though. Have you made any upgrades lately? If I remember correctly you had the perfect theater tho so probably not!
