  1. hey guys I just bought two Klipsch KG 2.2's for $100 from ebay. I have a couple of questions about them. The seller said that there is a buzzing sound coming from one of the speaker's. Does anybody know what this could be. Does it sound like I need to replace a woofer or tweeter? if so how hard is it to replace them and where do I get one? please help!! Also I was thinking of using these two speakers for rear channels. I know that they are normally used for centers but would there be a sound problem if used for rear's? KG 5.2 main KLF C-7 center KG 2.2 rear's ???????
  2. iv'e heard from a few HT xperts here locally that the Denon 3801 is a very good receiver..highly recommended!! Monty
  3. I think the match's for your KG series 5.5's is the KV-3 and the KG 2.2. I might sell my 2.2 in the near future. If your interested let me know. The C-7 matches very well with the KG series as well but much more expensive. monty
  4. T-man...I really am in a undecisive state of mind right now figuring out where I want to go with the HT. It's possible I might even have the 5.2's & the 2.2 for sale if I get a chance at a good price on some KLF's in the bay area. Darn it I should have never got that C-7!! now I want to upgrade again!!!! This message has been edited by montigue on 06-25-2001 at 02:50 PM
  5. sounds like I need to make room for two more klipsch floor speaker's. My wife will be so delighted!! Thanks for the replies....
  6. I have the Klipsch KG 5.2 main speaker's with a 2.2 center. klipsch rear speaker match for this setup is the KG 1.2's. This system is about 7 years old. The newer receivers are dedicating more power to the rear channels. For instance my old pro logic receiver output was 65wx3 & 25wx2. Now the new receiver's are spreading the wattage more evenly to all 5 channels. My new receiver's output is 75wx3 & 75wx2. My question is this...Would'nt it be better to have more powerfull speakers for the rear channel's. I was thinking about getting another set of KG 5.2's for the rear instead of the matching 1.2's? Any comment's? Monty
  7. thanks Ray, i'll have to go down there this weekend and check em out................................................................... Well went to Audiofx and listened to the B&W's. They sound really good. I dont know if I like that futuristic wrap around design with the big black dome on the top though. And the price tag was WILD to say the least ($8000 hehe). Still have to say Klipsch is #1 on my list. This message has been edited by montigue on 07-07-2001 at 01:23 AM
  8. thanks dougdrake, thats what I thought, ive got KG 5.2's.
  9. I recently have been looking at subs and from my gathering of knowledge I have to say the Polk Audio PSW 450 out performed the others. Although don't take my word for it go listen to it...Its price range is about $400 to $500. Monty
  10. cc1091: Actually what I meant was the polk Audio has a much better subwoofer than klipsch. i compared a number of brands and the Polk out performed all of them. I know many people that agree with me on that one. Although polk's cannot match the power and effeceincy of Klipsch speaker's. klipsch makes the best floor speaker for the money, no doubt about it. I never heard the B&W's so i can't comment on them. Actually I've never seen them in any audio store. Who carry's them? Monty
  11. the only other speaker I would buy 2nd to Klipsch is Polk Audio. They have awesome sub's and center channel's. Actually the Polk PSW 450 sub is the best sub I ever heard. If I had a pair of bose speaker's the only use I would have for them is target practice with my new bb gun.
  12. are the quintets good for rear speakers. I mean do they have a powerull sound to them?
  13. Actually beleive it or not the C-7 fit's on the WEGA. It looks to big for my system though that's why I MIGHT swap it for the 2.2. I have to say that I am impressed with the timbre matching with the C-7, It matches beutifully with the KG's. It really is a awesome speaker. Actually the KLF's our a very simular sound to the KG's. Just goes to show how good the KG series really are. I think it would be a better idea for me to go with the 2.2, sell the C-7 and buy a good sub. I'ts hard but i'm trying to be practical. What I might do is mount a wooden 8" spacer on top of my WEGA, then put the 2.2 on top of the wooden spacer. If I do it right it should look ok. That way I won't have to buy sheilding cup's, but thank's for the suggestion T-man. I defenitly will let you know how the 2.2 matches up against the C-7. Monty
  14. Thanks T-man, that ones mine!! ive been looking for that speaker for a while. Actually I wanted the sheilded but you can't beat that price. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to rig a non shielded center speaker on a 36" Sony Wega?? I would really appretiate some feedback Monty R --------------------- Sony 36" Wega flat screen Harman Kardon AVR 65 digital receiver Klipsch KG 5.2 oiled oak (mains) klipsch KG 2.2 black (center on order) klipsch KG 5.2 oiled oak (rears) (coming soon if details are worked out (hehe) klipsch KLF C-7 black (soon to be for sale) polk audio reference speakers (was rears, on sale now ebay item#1247764776) awesome speakers! its getting there
  15. Fantastic idea!! Really i think it's a great idea seeing that I love to buy, sell and trade audio equipment online. COUNT ME IN!! Horned: since were on the subject, I just want to let you know seeing that we live 2 hours from each other. If you ever decide to sell a pair of those KLF 30's keep me in mind. (hehe) Monty
  16. I just want to put my 2 cents in on this subject. I have the same feelings toward good guys. Just two years ago here in Sacramento you could go to good guys and find a full line of Klipsch speakers to listen to. Now your lucky to see anything other than the quintet system or any kind of center speaker. I would like to see klipsch get their domonance back in the major retail stores. 17. samuel r, I could'nt have said it any better myself. I could'nt beleive the difference in sound when I swapped my Yamaha receiver for the Harman Kardon . The music was so much richer and cleaner. Yamahas sell (I think) for there bells and whistles. You get a lot of button's to push and sure it looks great in a stereo rack but if you really spent the time to compare then you would be enlightened. Surround sound is the way to go you just need the right equipment. Monty

  19. hehehehe OH MY! WOW!! Man I totally agree with you Horned, and if I had that kind of money to spend on a HT system I would do it. When I first read your system layout I could'nt beleive what I was reading. You are a true audiophile! (I think that is the word they use) Your system must be one of the best if not the best system i've heard of or read about. I would guess that you have spent close to about $10,000 to $15,000. Maybe im way off but I know that the KLF's must have cost you at least $6000. I must say that I am very impressed with those KLF's I mean they really sound powerfull with a very wide range of great sound. I have the KG 5.2's and somewhere else in this forum I read that the KLF's sound very simular to the KG series. I recently purchased the C-7 center from ebay I'm hoping theres a good timbre match. Anyway thank's for your reply Horned, I hope you keep enjoying life. I know I would if I had your living room!! I bow to you!! you are the HT god!!!
  20. message is for HornEd: Am I reading this right? Do you have 6 KLF-30's in your system??? Please tell me i'm miss understanding something here! Monty
  21. I think it would be cool if I had a 7 speaker setup to where I could seperate all the different musical instrument's. I Would have the voices coming from the center speaker. The lead gutair on the L/front, the rythm guitar from the R/front. I would have the drums come out of the rear speaker's. The sub would be deticaded for bass only of course. And any extra instruments would come out of the other 2 small speakers. I mean think about it for a minute. It would be like having the band playing around you with you in the middle. If it could be done right I think even guys hard to please like yourself's would even like it. Surround sound RULES! ( with Klipsch speaker's of course)
  22. I'm with you jelliott100, I love to watch movies with my surround system. I would get rid of my wife before I got rid of my Klipsch surround system LOL...I love music as well, like all A/V pro logic receiver's my HK receiver has 2,3,5&6 channel's. 2 channel stereo is just too limited for me.
