  1. Hey thanks for the link thejson. I might just go that route. Are those plate amps difficult to install? Do they get attached to the sub itself? Monty
  2. I finally did it. I ordered the SVS 20-39 last friday and i cant' wait to hug it and squeeze it. My Klipsch KG 5.2's are going to be so happy when they see the new member of the family. It's gonna be a kodak moment! I will send you guys a pick of my awesome system, I am very proud of it indeed. I started putting it together about 2 years ago and with the addition of the sub it will be complete. Can anyone recommend an amp for the SVS (around $100). I would appreciate any advise at all. 3. thanks dougdrake, by the way does anybody know how that KG SW subwoofer sound's? For being a dual 8" woofer bandpass enclosure does it sound good? Would it sound good matched with the KG 5.2's ? Anybody? Monty R This message has been edited by montigue on 11-20-2001 at 08:40 PM
  4. The KG SW subwoofer of corse does not have an internal amp for power. I guess you are supposed to just use the speaker wire L/R inputs and then run them out to your mains. My question is this,(probably a stupid one) is their a way to use a seperate amp for this sub. Using the sub out signal from my av receiver to the sub amp? then some how wiring the sub amp to the sub? am I making any sense at all here? HELP!! 5. HUH? So say you have Klipsch Kg 5.2 floor speakers and you have say an SVS 16-30 what would be the best hook up? This message has been edited by montigue on 11-06-2001 at 02:51 PM
  6. i dont understand how they say 2700w but your only getting 270wThis all can be very deceving to the consumer..It's a good thing weve got these kind's of places to go for help. Thank's AGAIN Ears.. seem's you are the sub Xpert here Monty AKA montigue This message has been edited by montigue on 11-06-2001 at 02:41 PM
  7. I know that their is a lot of SVS fan's here. I also know that their are many that like Sunfires product as well. They both are great subs but if you had your choice to match up with your Klipsch floor speaker's would it be SVS 16-46CS or Sunfires MKII. The MKII is about the same price on ebay as the SVS but has 2700 watts of amplification compared to SVS's Samson's 350 watt amp. Without bringing the size issue to play, what sub would you pick for sheer peformance for $1000 montigue
  8. it looks like you have those subs hooked up behind your mains? was that the best positioning you found for them?
  9. EAR, You are saying that 1 MKII is better than 2 juniors? I really need to know this..These subs are expensive for my budjet that is why I want the abseloute best for my money. Somebody told me 2 juniors would be better than 1 MKII. EAR your the guy I need to hear from. Which way do I go? I'm all ears.... Monty
  10. sunfire just came out with their newest sub..the sunfire true subwoofer super junior. It has a 1500w amp in a 9x9x9 cube. A little more power than the junior. The MKII has a 2700w amp in a 11x11x11 cube. Im not sure about all the specs but I was just wondering would having 2 juniors be better than 1 MKII or any subwoofer for that matter. Wouldnt it be better to have to less powerfull subs than one powerfull sub?
  11. One sunfire MKll or two super juniors?? Monty
  12. I was wondering...If I decided to run a 2 sub setup on my system would the 2 subs have to be exactly the same subs. I want to add a MKII sunfire sub to my system which already has the signature sub. Would their be a problem with this? 13. hey t-man From the pictures you posted I can understand why you can't justify spending the extra money on the C-7. Your room is just too small. If I were you I would probably do the same thing. My room is about 12'L x 12'W and even I have to set the center at about half the output as the mains keeping it on large. With these settings it really blends in very well with my system. The only thing I don't like about the C-7 is that it sounds a bit harsh. Not really noticable until you put your ear right up to it and then you can hear that the highs are just too high. I have heard many other people complain about the KLF's as being too harsh. I think that maybe they are just senative to what type of connection is in between them and the receiver. Anyway I payed $300 for mine. That is about the most I would pay for it. If I had to pay what Goodguys want's for it then I too would still have my 2.2. Although I stand by my earlier statement that I think the C-7 is one of the best center channel speaker's on the market.

  15. I am suprised to hear you say that T-man. When I upgraded to my C-7 (replacing my 2.2) to me it was like a whole new experience in HT. It opened up my system's clearity, range and power more than I thought it could. The 2.2 sounds like a muffled walkman headphone compared to the C-7. My mains are the KG 5.2's which are almost identical to your 5.5's (but sound a little better with the passive radiator) and they match up perfectly with the C-7. Maybe the size of the room really makes a difference. Monty AKA Montigue
  16. I heard from somewhere that anything under 14hz can cause serious liver damage. Don't know if its true or not but the guy who told me this is very knowledgable. Be careful monty R
  17. It's people like Horned and his enthusiasm for this hobby that keep my intrest going. ( you can have a million dollar system in your living room but if you don't have anyone to share it with then its just not as fun)...so to reply to the "worn out my welcome" statement from Edhorn I would just like to say your FAR from that Ed. As a matter of fact I beleive most of us think of you as The leader of the KLIPSCH KLAN!! All in favor say I.... hehehe I've decided to put my order in for a SVS after reading the posts on this topic. THANK YOU!! By the way were can I buy $10,000 in SVS stock? 18. TVodhanel you really are a straight shooter. thanks for your professional advise. If I only had a chance to listen to the SVS. Too bad you can only buy them online. 20. Clint: I also have the panasonic RV31. I only paid $189 for it at Best buy's and it is really good stuff. Has a variety of sound modes and easy to use fast forward knob on the front. Sounds very clean and clear w/ a very nice picture. Toshiba makes a very good DVD that retail's for $159. I demod the 2700 and it is BASIC but has a very clean picture and good audio. These two are your best buys as of now for your price range. Monty
  21. after extensive research on reveiws and specs. Not to mention some help from my fellow Klipsch klan member's right here at Klisch.com. I have decided on the final two subs that would be perfect for not only my room size but my budget as well. And here they are.... 1. Paradigm PW 2200 retail $799 I can get a demo for $599 2. SVS Model 25-31PC retail $699 I have always valued all of your opinion's BUT NOW I NEED THEM THE MOST!! i'm about to fork out some mucho dinero I want to do the right thing. 22. Yammy's are cool toys with lots of extra stuff for the money you pay. And they do sound good with Klipsch. If you want true dynamic sound with fantastic high's and low's go with a high current amp like Marantz, Carver of Harman Kardon. Ive tried all of them with Klipch and I can tell you from experience you won't get the same bass output and dynamic sound with a yammy or Dennon. 23. That's only if you have the legend series. My C-7 does sound too bright with the HK but every other Klipsch speaker ive tried sounds great. Hit's bass with authority and has very strong dynamic's. Sure the Marantz would be better but arent you looking for something under $300? Whatever you get just make sure it's a high current amp. ____________________________________ "WHERE KG SERIES LIVE" Sony Wega 36" flat screen Sony S360 DTS DVD player Sony HI-FI VCR Harman Kardon AVR 65 Klipsch KG 5.2 mains klipsch KG 2.2 rear's Klipsch KG 2.2 rear center Klipsch C-7 front center This message has been edited by montigue on 07-24-2001 at 08:40 PM
  24. sologemini, do the right thing and buy a good used Harman Kardon. I have the HK AVR 65...It has a remote control that lights up for one, which I have found to be very useful. Coax and optical digital inputs of course. But what makes these receivers better than the other's mentioned is the high current they put out. Amp output on my model is 35 amps. Compare this to others at 15 or 20. Amp output is very inportant in a receiver. Think of wattage and amp output flowing like a river. Wattage is how fast the river run's, amp output is how deep the river is. A receiver that has 75w per channel & has a current capability of 35 amps is MUCH better than a receiver that has 125w per channel and has a low current output below 15 amps. I have tried them all, HK sounds better! you can find the AVR 65 on ebay from time to time for under $300. Actually any HK digital receiver would be a compliment to your HT. And they sound good with Klipsch...
