  1. Optical illusion ==distracted while starring at the finish. ! I see the chair now, at first i thought it was sitting on a carpet, not a table, in comparison with the glass door.... I looked through the build history link, great work.
  2. Thats a SMALL sub huh? Wow, that is beautiful. What did you use for the finish?, I want to paint some stuff. Like my SUB 12, then who knows what else.
  3. upgradeitis..... The total package price of the RF7 family ( RC64-RS62) II is way less than the price of a new car. People think nothing of dropping 20 thousand for a car, yet they pinch and waver on buying speakers. I know where I sit the most. Unfortunately there is getting to be fewer and fewer places to hear them beforehand. We may have just lost our Reference showroom where I live too. JUST DO IT.
  4. Assuming that you did check the speaker output level, and bass boost/cut if applicale. Does increasing the output level on the receiver do anything?
  5. I have the original RF7's and the Synergy Sub 12. Despite what a lot of people peat and repeat, the Sub12 is a nice sub. It doesn't have to do a lot of work if your RF7's have good watts pushing them. After 2 or more years of playing with adjustments, I settled on crossover around 50, and my RF7.s on Large for stereo, and Normal for Cinema. The RF'7's can handle down to 34, and I think the II's are rated to 32. The Sub12 handles the rest down to 27/24. My settings make the transition seamless in my room. I can't tell the sub 12 is on, except when it is off. Does that make sense? I also have it isolated from my floor on a marble slab.
  6. 2) RB-81 II Bookshelf Speakers 1) RC-62 II Center Channel Speaker (2) RS-52 II Surround Speakers $2125 MSPR on the Klipsch Home Theater set ups section.
  7. In that 12x12 room a 5.1 system of the RB81 would be more than wonderful. Keep the Sub 12 and ditch the other 2. Forget the 7.1 and use the money to get a nice multi channel amp = Emotiva. That's what I would do. If you want towers for the front, budget the next one up RF62, either way you'll hear a tremendous upgrade from your current. The RB speakers in the reference line are very impressive.
  8. The great advantage of the digital age is the literally Hundreds of CD's I've bought at garage sales for about a dollar each because "my husband put all these on his computer." I gladly made some more shelf space in my home.
  9. It could be the power, and it could be the settings, Same thing with the RF-7's when it comes to having the speaker settings on the Receiver on Normal or Small. Set it to large like these speakers are. And they do breath easy and have amazing tight bass with more power. Many sites will tell you to set the fronts to small and let the sub do the work, and the fronts can "concentrate" on the mids and highs, that might be true with a lot of speakers, but not these two. They were built to do both quite fine. Setting for small or normal for 5.1 Cinema is OK but for stereo and even 2.1 there is nothing like those woofer cones pushing all that sound on you. 2 x 10 on the 7 and 3 x 8 on the 83's. On anything but large on my RF 7's sound good, but on large they sound AND feel live.
  10. I have never heard of a speaker magnet breaking. I can't even imagine how without a hammer!
  11. Dump? No, Carefully inject some good wood glue in the cracks, then clamp it off properly, let it set overnight. It will then be stronger than it was in the first place. MDF is MADE with glue. Then a little cleaning, sanding and finish on the outside and no one will ever know it. And you'll be proud of your save.
