I've seen that too, on some painted floors... except when I pulled up the carpet in the den, it appeared the original house construction crew felt it necessary to apply texture and latex everywhere lol... I got it all off before the wood floor people showed up...

When I built my house the painter sprayed PVA primer all over including some on the floor. I said WTF? He said well you're just gonna cover it. I said yea but does thin set mortar adhere to PVA? And not for 6 months but 25 years ya Azzhole. You're fired. Spent the next 2 or 3 weeks cleaning it up before putting down tile and hardwood.

How long was the flight from Peru?

About 3 and half movies:) and two meals.

8 and half hours non stop. Don't know about you but I'll spend an extra 100 bucks to not have to stop. At Christmas time don't know if it much matters, tickets were expensive.

  3. Go CHIEFS...Not the Patriots in the Super Blow AGAIN. Not Brady the smug butt plug and Belicheck the pompous A hole.

Denver showed everybody how you beat the Patriots a couple years ago, get after Brady early and often.

  4. Like I've said before merits pro or con of ABX testing, I just liked the fact that with the old ABX corp equipment the change between A and B was noiseless and almost instantaneous. So which one do you like better A? or B? Not after f'ing around changing cables/components but right now.  A? or push a button B? Release the button A? or push the button B? Relying on MY long term auditory memory is useless when it comes to subtle differences. And the older I get I think the more useless it is.

That could be, but the computer could also be set up to switch amplifiers, speakers, wires, or whatever.

I believe these testing devices are custom made, often in-house by companies that use them, and not generally for sale.

Agreed. A computer could be made to switch just about anything. And agreed if a company went through all the trouble to make it  they would probably keep in house. As the guys that tried to make a go of it at the ABX corp back in the day found out--there just ain't no money in it.

Okay, I apparently don't understand how it works either.

How many buttons are there on one of those contraptions - just one?

The listener has "difference" and "no difference" buttons they press.  A computer randomly selects "A", "B", or "X" and records the results.

That is different from what I understand ABX testing to be. As I understand it, there is sample A, sample B, and sample X. Samples A and B are different from each other. Sample X is the same as either sample A or sample B, but nobody knows which one and the selection of A or B for X is random. The subject is allowed to switch between A, B, and X as often as desired. Ultimately they must choose whether X is the same as A or the same as B.

Sounds like maybe we're talking about different types of ABX testers. Don's sounds like a self contained in a computer that works comparing .wav or FLAC files or what have you. Dean and Edgar's responses sound as if they expect there to be an external piece of hardware(the ABX box) that allows comparison between two amps for example. I believe Don's type exists in the present day but the other does not currently. I hope someone proves me wrong and posts a link to a currently available ABX box.
