  1. Perhaps not what everyone would have had in mind in this thread, but I'm seeing Holst's The Planets by the Baltimore Symphony at Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, Friday evening, Nov. 8.

Because of slim classical music pickings this season, I didn't organize a group concert outing this year.

I will make sure that I queue up my Holst's CD on Friday night..Won't be the same as what you will be hearing..but it's the best I can do ;)

Last Concert I attended.....Black Brook Pre-schoolers...1 hr of Pop goes the weasel...Twinkle Twinkle little star...and what I think was Mary had a Little Lamb...All done with recorders..

Ok the last legit concert I've been to...Black Brook Pre-schoolers

    All very good condition.

Nice Score...and here I thought I was the only Kitaro fan on this forum.

  3. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving player.

Matt Cain has been a victim for many years of no run support and he is a better pitcher then his record shows.

There was also a very near 9-1 no hitter for R A Dickey (Mets). A questionable infield hit in the first inning cost him and a 9th inning error ( plus 2 pass balls due to R.A.'s knuckle ball) allowed a run to score in the 9th, which ended a 33+inning non-scoring steak.

  4. Cut-Throats modded K-Horns are something special.

I've had the privilege to listen to Kevin's system a couple of times and after each time it would take me a month or two to start liking my K-Horn setup, again.

Kevin has the ideal set-up and you can tell a lot of time was spent getting it just right.

Also, he is a very gracious host!!

P.S. Did he show you his secret tinkering room behind k-horns/entertainment center? The last time I was there, there was "Fly" tying going on in one corner, crossover tinkering in another, and some stereo receivers in the process of being re-conditioned.

  5. I can kind of help you!!![;)]

When I had the KLF-30's in my main system (KLF-C7 center, RF-3 for surrounds), I drove them with a Denon AVR-3801. The Denon has served me well for the past 11 years and it now drives my bedroom set-up.

I can't see that the AVR-3805 would be any less of a receiver then the 3801.

My 3801 has plenty of connections (Less HDMI, of course) for speakers and devices. it doesn't run HOT and it is very quiet when switching between sources and video inputs. I've had lessor Denons and Onkyo's that are loud as !@#!@ when switching inputs and they ran very hot.

So, not knowing the other receiver choices very well, my vote would be for the Denon 3805. (Despite the age, The Denon 38XX series were work horses)

    Good luck on your adventure!!!

    Thanks

  7. Hi:

I have both versions of the PS3 (can't remember the versions) but my Slim model is so loud that I have to turn up the volume to drown it out.

It doesn't matter if it is sitting idle, playing a DVD, or streaming Netflix. I've tried every trick that is on the internet to fix the issue (There are many people out there that have the same problem) but nothing has worked.

It was this way right out of the box and I should have returned it ASAP but I was too lazy and procrastinated too long.

    Just my .02 worth

    Thanks

  8. Anyone have any experience or expertise in regards to these type of phonographs?

Here is link to an auction that I'm going to and they have one up for auction. The picture of it is poor but I will be stopping by tonight for a look-see.

    http://garyrhondaericksonauctioneers.com/upcoming-consignments.php

I'm not too concerned if it works for there are a couple of reasons for the interest:

    1. It looks cool (Like something SETI would have in his collection) and

    2. The lady having the auction and her late husband were neighbors of mine up until I was 6. They were sorta of like my adoptive grandparents for I didn't have any growing up. She was always had good treats for me when I would make my weekly "It's my Birthday, where are my treats" visit.

So, I want to make sure that I get something from this auction for sentimental reasons and this phonograph has perked my interest.

Thank You in advance for your input

    JJ
