  1. To be honest, everything I have heard past the RF-7, RF-35 series has dissipointed me. Especailly the new RF-7s, I'm not sure what exactly is the difference, for one thing the crossover seems to have more mid frequencys going to the tweeter instead of a woofer.
  2. I currently have 4 RC-7s for my surrounds, and I am loving it. I liked the RS-7s, but they just don't keep the image correct like an RC-7 does. I did an experiemtn with a double RS-7, but I was getting a pretty nasty combing effect, so I didn't go any furthur with it.
  3. No sign of any speakers. Used the word Klipsch withing 75 miles of Rockfords zip code...no completed items either. I woulda jumped on that deal even though I really want KLF-30s.
  4. Got to see these baking in the paint booths a couple weeks ago in Newton. Those things are HUGE. You have no idea what your getting into until you see them in person.
  5. Id be intersted in the RB-15s if you decide to sell.
  6. You really should get these speaker cables for $6995 a pair. They are "transparent" and have "MM" Technology. That has to be good right? In all seriousness, I buy my wire from Monoprice - Link IMO, wire is wire and copper is copper, no matter how you twist it, french braid it or shield it. OMG! I bought a set of those. When I plugged them in I saw Jesus!
  7. I agree that the RF-7's that I have are brighter in the high frequencies but the RF-83's had more bottom end in my room. Are you talking about a DeanG RF-7? His mod really does make the bottom end tighter and more prominant.
  8. How did you do this and what material did you listen? Well... I'm a bit of a nut when it come to testing gear. I need an instant A/B comparison when trying to hear the difference in equipment. Disconnecting and reconnecting, just leaves too much time for an accurate comparison. My memory plays tricks on me. I have an amp I use just for testing (I also have a great amp selector made by Niles to A/B amplifiers with the touch of a button). It's a Yamaha MX-1. Really a nice little amp. It has an A/B selector on it, so I can switch back and forth with only the touch of a button. I sit on the couch and make my daughter switch back and forth when I say She kept pressing one button before releasing the other. Which is ok, the amp handled the efficient Klipsch like a champ. It's made to take two 8 ohm speakers at the same time. So every time I had both running at the same time I could'nt help but be impressed by the sound. I am looking to move soon. In my new home I may do something like this again, but I would probably use two amps (I have plenty lying around) One like the MX-1 that has gain adjustments to match the speakers equally. I have my B&W 804's next to the RF-7's now that I use for different types of music, or I would have left the RF-83's there. The B&W's have an amazing midrange. On a side note to the op.. I use a RF-7 as the center channel in my RF-83 system (extra from the all RF-7 system) Which is awesome! I've always used towers for my center channel. In a movie you will not notice the the difference between the RF-7's or RF-83's, but you'll notice a hugh difference in presence of the RF-7 compared to a RC-7 or RC-64. I'm sure you could sell a single RF-7 to someone looking to upgrade their center channel. Just thought I'd throw that out there Exactly why I made my custom RF-7 into the wide array. There is more detail and depth compared to the RC-7. Which BTW, I still love the RC-7, I'm using 4 of them for surrounds.
  9. I have heard an RF-83 against my RF-7 w/deanG head to head. I'm sorry, but the 83 couldn't hang around with highs or low end. Now the RF-7s were bi-amped and the 83's were not, however I don't think the bi-amping will make THAT much of a difference.
  10. For what its worth...I don't care at all for the THX settings on my Onknyo 3008. The settings make the speakers sound hollow, and a littly tinny. When i use it on Dobly IIz or IIx it sounds much better.
  11. I currently have an Onkyo 3008. I've picked up a 4311 and its waiting for me at home. I'll get to play with it after Christmas. I'll let you know. I do know that I wasn't real happy going from the Denon 4810 to the Onkyo 3008. It was accecptable, but not great. I'm looking forward to hearing a Denon again.
  12. Wow, with deals like that, you have to be quick. Looks like Gorm might have first dibs with his PM sent 8 minutes after the listing. Link I canceled the deal when he raised the price this morning. He knows that he asked too little. Anyways, its up for grabs.
  13. I get the noise on mine only if I turn the amp on before the receiver. After the receiver is on, the noise goes away.
  14. The horn in the current speaker is facing the way the others are facing. I have it set horizonally on the shelf, so it is facing the correct direction. I wouldn't use it vertically, as shown in the second picture. My question was, would it matter to bring the woofers in closer to the horn on teh center, whereas currently they are spread out. What you see on the shelf is what is currently there.
  15. This is my current custom center channel: This is another center channel that was built by a member: I love the sound out of my current center for movies, however the voices sound a tad big spacy, or hallow. Would this be because the woofers are located to far from each other? Would making another one with the woofers together make enough of a difference wo warrant creating another one? I have an extra RF-7 and building another one would not be an issue. I just thought there might be some members out there that know more about imaging that could answer my question. Thanks!
  16. Bump, as I've had a couple users ask about it while trying to sell my extra RF-7.
  17. Its up to you, but I think the RF-7s would look better compared to the Ultra series. Sound wise...I don't know as I've never heard the ULTRA series.
  18. I have RC-7s all the way around. The sound is larger, and more detailed than the RS-7. However, I the sound does sound SLIGHTLY more direct. However, this isn't an issue from the main listening position.
  19. For what its worth, I have a 12 foot wide room, and my RF-7s sound great.
  20. I would not use WDST type speakers for front heights...they are supposed to be an extension of the mains. Thats going to mess around the image something awful.
  21. Here is another new one...now the buy it now price seems to be 600+ on these now. I have no idea why the value on the RC-7s doubled in nearly a month. Maybe people are buying them for Christmas?
  22. Another one gone for 600. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KLIPSCH-RC7-CENTER-CHANNAL-/140659921187?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item20bffc1123 If you have an RC-7 and want to unload it, now appears to be the time.
  23. As I suspected the market is now becoming flooded with them. The latest 2 on ebay are 475 and 100. The 100 is for Maple finish, and I'll bet that doens't go as high as the black ones.
  24. Not to mention, I'm still looking for one. I'm not about to pay those prices though.
