Disconnected and unscrewed the mid range unit. The meter indicates both are open (OL reading). No noise with battery test (note: the discussion for this test was about tweeters. I don't know if it works for mid range).
Put things back together. Surprise! Both tweeters working now (loose connections?) as well as woofers (which had always been working). And the sound has cleaned up and unified considerably. Much better than when I first heard them. Now it sounds like just the mid range is missing.
So now both mid-range test as open. I read woofers are 4 ohm, mid-range are 16 ohm and tweeters are 8 ohm, but I think the post was talking about Forte speakers. I measured the mid-range right at the driver connectors.
Is the on the mid range a death sentence and the likely cause of the problem? Any other test for them? Am I ready to order new mid range drivers? I read something about replacing just the diaphragm? Thanks to everyone for advice and support.
set the dial of the Ohmmeter to Ohms , unscrew 6 screws , slowly gently , separate the top plate from the magnet assembly , place the prongs on the leads of the diaphragm and check DCR , above 10 Ohms the diaphragms are working , no reading the diaphragms will have to be replaced

I hadn't considered it. Does it help?
enclosed backs on khorns allow the freedom to move the khorns out of the corners of the walls , for a toe in , you still need corners , but the speakers no longer have to be firmly in the corners at a fixed 45 degrees , but rather in closer proximity of a corner .

Very bad advise based on information the OP has posted so far and simply because he is experiencing intermittent crackling and pops doesn't automatically equate to amplifier overload or overheating and he hasn't reported any overheating of the amplifier.
you forgot this

I have an inkling that my teenage daughters played it loud while home alone two weekends ago. The volume dial was a 12 o’clock.

when the OP says it's crackling ,he really means that the amp is overheating and distorting , so yes , the solution is not to crank the amp in order for the amp to run cooler

it’s the amp. I have another amp (the same) I will swap them over and that will confirm.
you need a more powerful amp , you risk damaging the 2nd amp just as easily as high distortion levels can damage the amplifier

No PCB on the KP2.0A crossover.
bad solder contacts or bad capacitors make no distinction whether on a wooden Xo or a PCB , same problem , same solution

6 minutes is enough time for suspensions to loosen up
that's correct for rock concerts , crews break-in woofers in 5-6 minutes...... at full power

I think the clean bass is actually what threw me off before - as someone said, I maybe got used to the muddy bass from a direct radiating speaker like the Cornwall.
dont believe everything you read , a CW III is said to have a very warm bass because the woofer is placed higher up , and it's far from being muddy .

Hiya!
I have 2 RF7's and an RC7 that I bought brand new (maybe 15-20 years ago?) I'm curious about the manufacture date, and what they may be worth. I have ZERO plans to sell these as they have been my constant companions.
RC7bk - 04390062
RF7bk - 04450093
Both were inspected by Barbara Miller (just in case anyone knew her )
the year is 2004 for both ,used prices for RF-7's show 1500$ , RC-7 500$

a cleaner that's not approved by klipsch may make things worse , contact the dealer , report the issue , , dont do anything until klipsch have responded .with clear instructions .
