  1. I am liking the gas prices this winter.  I only use Premium grade now at $2.00 per gallon.  I am retired and now have three cars to support.  :)

the jeep is the real winter car - these can go anywhere

  2. I purchased a pair of RF-82 II's and RS-52 II's from Fry's on clearance recently, but haven't been able to find a center. I finally found someone on Craigslist who has an RC-62 II (supposedly), but the photo he sent of the serial number doesn't look legit to me. Is it possible that this is a counterfeit / white van speaker? Does anyone else have a speaker with a tag like this? He says he "purchased from a shop that had it on a demo and was selling it for it wasn't being used anymore".

    Thanks!

the only way ro really be sure is to unscrew the bezel and remove the speakers - these should be tagged by klipsch to be original -

  3.

by the way - how did you apply the clear coat - did you use a paint brush or a spary - tx

Used a poly brush for the clear coat (6 coats). not familiar with the spray on clear coat? I'll have to look into that.

Oh, man you're gonna regret letting those go. Seriously don't do it.

One day, there's not doubt I'll miss these guys... But getting married this summer and owning 5 some sets of speakers, and moving into a small 2 bedroom apartment, I gotta cut it down to 1! And I've decided to stick with my B&W 803N's... Plus down the road, I really wouldn't mind doing this again! Or even building from scratch. I had a lot of fun with this project, but for now, I'll let someone else enjoy them

the spraying of the clear gives it a miror like glass finish -

  4. Hello I recently got a pair of cornwalls 11 and thought about putting in some K -43 woofers 16 ohms I purchased about 2 1/2 years on ebay old stock new 16 ohms still in original boxes thought about putting them in K- Horns sitting in boxes still mounted to shippin plywood heavy beast dated 1962 or 1966 went to retrieve info in box on shelf which is 8 feet high LOL not happening to soon I put there don't know how I did it ** Klipsch Crazy Moment** LOL anyone with thoughts about cornwall 11 use or K- Horn use.

the k43 is a 4ohms woofer - never heard of a 16ohms k43 - do you have any pictures and did you take a DCR reading with an ohmmeter -

  5. Tonight, my son and I watched Transformers: Age of Extinction.  Amazing movie.  The LaScalas sounded absolutely fantastic.  Dialogue was clear and gunshots sounded real.  The Dual RSW-15's are plenty for my setup.  I wanted to pose a question about volume to the community.  How loud do you typically watch a movie?

My receiver was set at -25db.  Most dialogue and non-action sequences were around 85db.  During explosions (which there were plenty in this movie), the meter hit 115db quite often.  Honestly, this is the first time I finished a movie and wondered if I had it too loud.

It's difficult to say how long those peaks lasted but I'm sure the action scenes were around 100db continuous which can't be good for my hearing.  The last thing I want to do is to damage my ears to where I can no longer enjoy movies or music.

    Just looking for some feedback.

    - there is no way that you were hitting that high of a level to damage hearing or you would be hurting and feeling pain -

    -  lower than a movie cinema is not that high -

-now take a rock show in the 115 - 120  range continuous or more ,for 2-3 hours straight - your ears will ring for a while - that means that your hearing has been affected -

as a rule - if you feel discomfort - stop - if you dont - have fun and enjoy it - -

  6.

the pictures that were shown are of a Patrician  series 1-2-3-4 that all look alike - coffin style cab - mahogany finish -gold lettering Patrician logo -metal grille cloth - Pisces metalwork, grille -

scratch out the 800 totally - this is not an 800 -A Patrician 800 did not exist in 1951,  the cabinet is totally different looking and much wider by 1.5x the factor -

the OP should give us more pictures to validate which series it is -

as well , the OP mentions that one can inspect the speaker - can someone in  Phoenix Arizona  get in touch with the OP and do just that -

i have CWII's and updated/upgraded the x overs, with a different vendor, it was a GREAT upgrade. I have also replaced the original tweeters with Bobs Ti diaphragms, I never found them to be harsh in my room but they did clean up the soundstage and are more articulate imo.

In addition I replaced the the stock woofers with Eminence Kappa c's from parts express. This really cleaned up the mid lows and the bass response is way tighter.

I've considered replacing the mid diaphragms but Bob didn't seem to strongly advocate it so at this point I haven't.

    Good luck

    -

-I would have thought that the KAPPA C was more like a k43 - less bass -as these need 4x more power -the k33 is a 100 watts woofer versus the Kappa C 's 400 plus - please can you give us your feedback -tx

its the thread that peaked my interest in pursuing this mod, theres a ton of technical info shared, as in a to

Claude is the man that backs up his reports - I agree

  9. Gentlemen , I did appreciate the history that Andrea87  has shared with us as to the origin of the speaker and the family connection of a Lady who until 2 years ago was listening to her EV Patrician - she must have been a true musician at heart -

    - I can imagine the fond memories and would I had been the owner - I would have preferred to pass it on to my family as it is entirely plausible to restore it would any parts fail -

-the tweeter diaphragm is available - so are spares -and all the rest of the parts - the crossover caps can be upgraded as well - a speaker such as this can be operative in a few hours or less -

  10. Here is the EV Patrician IV manual - the Patrician series look alike  the speaker we are looking at -

the question that is yet to be answered by

    Andrea87

is whether this is a Patrician 1-2-3-4   -   the OP mentionned that the speaker was installed around 1951 - 66 years ago , so , if the year is exact  that should indicate a series 1 -

  11. So, if you need a starting 'for sale' before negotiation price, let's start with $30k + shipping. We can work down from there. Lol

I see 30k plus shipping -that is why most of us  have bowed out - a more realistic price may have gathered interest - this is a garage sale after all - less the garage price -

  12.

Still don't know what to sell it for on eBay. I'd hate to have a no reserve, because in any given week, certain buyers may or may not be on there.

Andrea - Sellers that are looking for an item like yours will be notified when one goes up for sale. The top dollar buyers (and also scammers) will likely be out of country, which may complicate matters for you. Still, eBay will generate the largest possible exposure, which in turn should generate the largest possible profit.

If you have a figure that you're willing to sell it for, maybe use that as the reserve. If you're patient, and want the maximum exposure, go for a much longer auction period.

the sky is the limit for the right buyer -

Agreed sky is the limit but OP did ask for information on pricing

the OP really wants 30k - why not start at 30k - if it sells , we would all be very  happy -

  14. Ok, seriously now. You have a fantastic piece! I am happy to have looked at the pictures and dreamed about it. Best of luck with the sale!

I second this remark as we all are looking at a speaker that was designed by EV with the original concept that was PWK 's genius -

-it is a beautiful speaker - we wish you a good luck with your sale - possibly the EV forum can help in this regards -

  15. That cabinet has no internal damping and resonates at high volumes.  1" thick acoustic foam on the three non opposing sides will make a nice difference.  The crossover network in the CII looks like it was built by playschool.  I would spend some money on a different crossover design rather than replacing the original with marginally better parts.  Not a fan at all of the titanium diaphrams they are screechy and sizzly sounding as compared to the original phenolic diaphrams.  YMMV

from what you are saying  - The CW II  cabinets dont have the acoustic foam that came in the CW1 from the factory -

hence ,  the MDF resonates as a consequence of this missing in the cabinet   - do you know if that applies as well to the CW3 -

I am surprised that the tests in the anechoic chamber at Klipsch in Hope Ark didnt show the issue of resonance -

  16. Found these for sale about 2 hours away.  I can't find much about them.  Anybody heard of model E? I'm guessing E stands for export?  They need alot of TLC......what do you consider a fair price?

these speakers were sold by klipsch in Frankfurt Germany  - the agreement was with Kiipsch and the US army to allow the sales of these speakers in all US bases - and installations in Germany - through the Government stores - these were therefore owned by a serviceman who brought  these back to the USA -

-the speakers you see are Decorator Heresy 1 -logos are from 1975-1977 - painted black -

  17. Starting to plan my sub builds since my screen and PJ are mounted.  I'm trying to decide between 2 15" or 2" sealed subs.  15" would probably be done using dayton ultimax drivers and the 18" with drivers from stereo integrity since (IIRC) that's what scrappy used.

What is the difference in feel/sound between them?  I've heard an 18" can go lower but is slower and usually lacks the punch of a 15".  Is that correct?

And while you're thinking about that...DIY Sound Group has a 3 cubit ft. flat pack for the 15" DT Ultimax and a 4 cubic ft. box for the same driver.  Is there any reason to choose the smaller one?  And why wouldn't the 4 cubic foot one list an 18" option?  I guess I can ask the peeps on the forum there.

    Thanks!

the kits from parts express are bare cabs - not painted -you have to do all the work - a Yamaha dual 18 inch on ebay costs 650$ ready to use and the have the Eminence drivers we all like -
