Plots don’t lie.. They extend much lower, have stronger mid bass, and sound much more balanced. No more shouty, angry little box…
Even a small speaker can have significant bass problems in a small room. Sealed or ported box? The two will sound different. Never met a mod that didn't get praise?🤠

They are a long and trusted dealer with good quality tubes.

You can always get two sub and bass shakers or Crowson tactile transducer which will be stronger than 2 16 in subs for vibrations in movies.

Two subs will give you all the volume you need and the transducers can shake things up without enormous wooferage. Cheaper also.

Can't answer on what you should like. It will vary from room to room and person to person. This hobby can get costly, so, buy what you like and like what you buy. 😁

Stick with good quality tubes made for the amp. Rolling most likely won't offer you any better SQ. Your tubes are your amp and good ones should sound great.

Welcome to the forum. I just watched a video on the amp. It should work and have plenty of umph. These small amps can work well for space constraints and WAF. Do you have a Sonos system. There are other small amps that can power your speakers.
-
Without knowing more about your amp and setup, for now, my answer is no to using a KT 66 in place of a 6v6 that the amp may have been designed for. The KT 66 is a stronger power tubes, pin configuration may not work, and the bias requirements between the two tubes, 8v8 and KT 66 are significantly different.
Damaged amp, damaged tube and poor performance is a likely reward. The SQ is not based on tube size or power. An El 84 can sound as good as a 300b in the right setting. The key is to build a system that fits you and not end up with a bunch of gear and excess tubes sitting around.
-
It looks like you have plenty of choices. First, why tube roll- better/different sound. Tubes in the same family such as Sylvania, Tung-Sol, etc generally sound the same. Using something like a 7n7 vs 6SN7 may have a slightly different sound than a Sylvania 6SN7 being from a different family. There are also substitutes like the 6GU7. Note, the 6GU7 and 7N7 are just the 9 and 7 pin electrical equivalents and no concern of filament voltage.
Tube rolling can be fun but know your amp circuitry. Tube adapters are available on the internet. The adapters usually just convert sockets and not filament. It is possible to roll a lot of tubes in an amp but, if the tube is not operating in its optimal range, no improvement in SQ most likely.
What is your amp and other gear? It may help to get others to chime in.

An external amps may help. Your problem was with the Atmos speaker and subwoofer. There may be some room issues that will effect Atmos and subs more than the other speakers. A room FR may be a start.

You are fine.

High current amp and good capacitors allow for power to get through dynamics and impedance dips. Changing the tap from 8 ohms to 4 ohms has it's trade-offs and in most cases, makes no real difference. I have owned the RF 7, and 7II's. I used them with SS, hybrid, pro and tube gear.
The amps ranged from 25 watts to 3000. I didn't do it knowingly but, put the 25 watt amp through some significant test on the RF 7's. The 25 watt amp made it through reference levels movies even pushing the volume up to 120 db. A 101 sensitivity speakers does not take much to shine.

Floyd Toole wrote a few papers on mixing subwoofers. I have mixed everything from 8 to 18 inches subwoofers vented and ported. I could get a flat FR down to 15=20 Hz with a combination of different size subs in a room of 700 Sq ft.
-
Yes, you can mix different size subs. How much wooferage do you need? Depends on room size, music vs movies, location upstairs or downstairs, on concrete and neighbors? Integration is the key when mixing multiple subwoofers and a good AVR or FR correction software.

The KLF 30 is/was an excellent speaker. Something similar should shine with tube amp. My Focal Aria's are 91.5 db. sensitivity but, even with my Oldchen amp, most of the time I am under 5 watts which is blasting. Build a good XO for your speaker and no need for multiple amps. After all, we are in an arena of distortion and not necessarily looking for a flat frequency response.

Big Conglomerates that buy up Sonus Faber, Klipsch, Onkyo, Integra, etc. , offer what? A similar product with different names to give you choice. Oh, where are the unique products going to come from without the corporate bottom line coming in 1st. Sonus Faber and McIntosh were premium brands, will they be dumbed down to increase sales. Audiophile may become a generic term due to mass marketing. This may be all hyperbole? Invest in Sonos?

List sales in the garage sale section. Also, list price, location and pic's. This should help with the sale.

I don't have an RC 64 ii but, I have an RC 64 I need to get rid of for next to nothing. I used it with my RF 7 II system. Using system EQ, no difference in sound. The RC 64 centers are excellent speakers.
Where are you located? There may be forum members near you that can help. A want to buy in the Garage Sale section may gain you some traffic.

What speakers will you be pairing with the amp? Any Heritage should shine with that amp. It is twice the size of my r8. I can't say I have not looked at the 805 and 845. Not sure if I can lift it, lol. The r805 and r845 are considered to be a significant step up in the food chain but, at a price that is still a bargain.

This is not the R800 I 845 but, shows the build quality of the r8. Checkout the parts, wiring, etc. This Jim guy knows his stuff and ran Valves and More and online tube store.

Hi Dave, I don't own the R800 I 845 amp but do own the R8. The China amps get a lot of so called modifications. Look at the video, the amp is well built, quality components and craftsmanship that will cost you triple if it was American made. Yes, you can replace some caps or do a few other things but, the amp already functions at a high level and will the changes be noticeable. I can't imagine any huge gains to be had. I have thrown everything possible at the R8 without a blink from the circuits. I have used 7N7, 7F7 12au7, 12ax7, 6gu7, El 34 to KT 90.
I have owned five different amps from China HiFi, they make good amps. The Chinese continued to make and use tube gear after the transitor ear dominated the late 20th century. I would do nothing and get some nice tubes and enjoy.

There is a big difference in how the two center channels perform. A lot depends on room size. The 504 will have a larger soundstage. The 500c would work well in a room around 215 SF. Also, if the mains are less than 7-8 ft. apart the smaller center will work well.

A XO of 60Hz is about right for that speaker. No need to force the speaker to play lower if voice/dialogue clarity is sought. Adjust the 3000 Hz band up 3 db. Voices are mostly in the 1000-4000 Hz range for easy detection by the ear. Playing a speaker to the XO cut-off just introduces more distortion IMHO. The RB 61 is a nice bookshelf speaker, wish I still had a pair.

Inherited these and wondering which amp to try with the Klipschorns

Which amp is best, you have quite a journey ahead. Looks like you have a lot nice vintage gear that appears to have been taken care of. Tube or SS amps should be checked out by a tech. A SS amps is easier to get up and going. Enjoy the speakers and amps.
