  1. discusman, I am using a(1) KSF-S5 (WDST) rear center with my KSP-S6s (WDST) and I have no problems with them. See if a dealer will let you take a pair of RS7s home and try them. Put them on something and see how they sound with your system. Another option would be using one or two RC7s for your rear center(s).
  2. OK Ears, Now that I have a "Sunflower" how about this---stacking 5-6 of them up. A "TOWER OF POWER" Just kidding, My wife would kill me!
  3. THANKS Keith. I was looking for something like that a while back but I never could find anything satisfactory. Much appreciated. I can now look to using a tube and a SS amp for my KLF-20s. Much appreciated!
  4. Well, I bit the bullet and bought the Sunfire and all I can say is WOW! This little beast is awsome. It is a lot "tighter" that my KSW 200 and really digs deep. Not to mention the appeal to the WAF for size. Does any one want to buy a KSW 200 for $225 plus shipping?
  5. Justin, Check out this month's Home Theater magazine for a big screen RPTV shootout. All are 16X9 and either HD ready or have HD tuners in them.
  6. I do not think my pocket book could stand another "NEW" format! This message has been edited by aab3rd on 03-09-2002 at 10:04 PM
  7. I was just cruising e-bay and there is one there now. Here is the link. I am not going to bid on this right now so good luck!
  8. I use a Marantz MM9000 5-ch amp which I like a lot. You can get them for $800-900 new or cheaper on e-bay. Outlaw just came out with a new 200wt/ch amp (755) which should be as good or better than their old 5-ch amp, the 750. Check out the Outlaw reviews here . The Marantz reviews are here . There are MANY good amps out there at many different price points, so it would be good to know how much money you want to spend and also what speakers you have. Also, to answer your question as to wether a separate amp will be an improvement, I say from experience-YES!
  9. Good Luck! These are about as hard to find as Academys. I too would like one to go with my CF-1s even thought I do not use them right now.
  10. Darn Ray, I would have bought that from you but I just bought a Sunfire MKII last night. "If it wern't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all." I hope things get better for you real soon!!!
  11. Thanks Ears for the continued help! Actually right now I am looking at replacing my KSW200 with a sub that is good for both HT and music (with more of an emphasis on HT). Later I will get a sub only used for music and the sub I buy now (SVS or Sunfire) will only be used for HT. That is why I am looking at the Sunfire for $800 or the SVS 2039PCi for $650. whichever one BEST does HT AND music right now will get the nod. Both of these will dig deep enough for me on HT but not so deep that I will not enjoy music (where I like less deep bass-but accurate bass). FYI the music sub will be used with a tube amp and a pair of RB5s with a dedicated CD player therefore the notion of a REL sub which I have heard is good for music.
  12. I am not in need of a lot of output since my wife (and dogs) do not like to listen to music and movies above approx 70 db (mabe 75 for music). Therefore either one would do as far as SPL. What I am looking for is clean, tight bass, therefore I still leave the question hanging as far as SVS 2039PCi vs. Sunfire MKII in this respect. Since I do not have a lot of (read ANY) experience with other subs as compared to my KSW200 I look to others for advice and guidance. This is the way I see it: SVS 2039PCi---Pros-Less expensive Cons-size vs Sunfire Sunfire---reverse avove Determining factor---clean tight bass for movies and music until I have a music only system where I will have a dedicated sub say down to 25 hz (svs 2531 or smaller box sub good for music (Rel Q150e?))
  13. boa, the Outlaw is not upgradeable, but it has all that I want right now. dnd, If all you need (or want) right now is 5.1 with DD and DTS then you might be interested in my Parasound AVC 1800. I will sell it for $500 if you are so inclined. It is one year old and has nine years left on the waranty (which is transferable per Parasound).
  14. Tony, You have PM (hopefully). I got a "no third party relaying" error, whatever that is. aab
  15. To throw a kink into things, I saw on SVSs web site last nite that they have a new powered sub line-up with a 350 watt amp. Which would be better for HT and music---Sunfire MKII or 2039PCi. The SVS is about $150 cheaper (tax here vs. shipping should cancel out).
  16. I am waiting on my Outlaw 950 to replace my Parasound AVC1800 for 6/7.1 and for the money ($899) I do not think it will be beat. Here are the specs.
  17. I have a chance to buy a Sunfire MKII from a (former) dealer for $800. It is a demo but will have a new waranty. I know that this will go lower than my KSW200 but will it be less boomy and how is it for music? Also, should I use it in conjunction with the KSW or replace the KSW with the MKII. If used in conjunction, would it be OK to set the Sunfire on top of the KSW. Ears, I know you have one of these (I think). At least you have the other Sunfire models as well as the Carver so your opinion would be greatly appreciated here. For $800 I do not think I can go wrong. Any and all other opinions will be appreciated as well!
  18. I love POLK!!!! Polk is the reason I got into Klipsch in the beginning. I went to a HT store to audition a pair of really nice looking Polk tower speakers. After the audition the salesperson told me to try the Klipsch speakers. He hooked up a pair of CF-1s and they blew me away. They were so much more detailed, crisp, and clear compared to the Polks that I bought them on the spot even though they were more than I wanted to spend. Thank you Polk!
  19. My dad can beat up your dad!
