I have been looking for a pair of abused Fortes to buy cheaply and rebuild. I can't find any so I am thinking about building the box from scratch. I talked to Mr Crites and I can get all new parts (with the exception of passives, I believe) from him. Does anyone have a build diagram of the Fortr 1? If this question is inappropriate for proprietorial reasons, I apologize and please ignore. Otherwise, thanks for the help. Chip

There's a guy on Long Island parting out his CF 3's. I am very interested, but he won't ship. I was wondering if I might ask for some help from a forum member. I would need someone to pick them up, pack them safely for shipping, and send them. I would be willing to throw in a Happy Meal for you troubles .

I actually went to look at these. They are in really rough shape and they weren't hooked up so there was no way to audition them. If you plan to go see them, ask for more pictures before you go. They are located about 15 minutes east of Kalamazoo, MI. BTW, I offered him $400 and he said no. He texted me that he would take $500, but that seemed a bit risky since I couldn't hear them.

You might want to check out the W4S MiNT. It's a class d integrated with a nice dac.

Thanks. He said he thought they were from 75 so that makes sense. He said he didn't move the tweeter, he made one stand a tad higher so the tweeters would both be at ear height.

The following ad is on a local CL. I was hoping to get the thoughts of those more informed on Corwalls. It is apparently b stock and the tweeters are slightly misaligned. That gives me a thought. If I built a box with exactly the same internal dimensions as a Forte, and bought new drivers, passive and crossovers from Bob Crites, would I get the same sound as the Fortes?

Notice how this guy recessed the wood. I was thinking about something like this on the front of the Fortes. Again, my concern is that it doesn't mess with the sonic signature. Thanks for the input.

I have been thinking about building wraparound hardwood cases for my Fortes. Obviously this would be only for the sides and tops. Would this have any impact on their sound?
