  1. You gotto remember one thing, your not going to find very many peeps posting here if they have a good working set. I have a ASUS CUSL2-C Black Pearl MoBo, and there is a forum for that, and you hear alot of bad problems, cause they are mainly set up for trouble shooting and repair. You have an advantage, as you work at Best Buy, so you can try them out or if you get a defective set, it will be easy for you to return them and get a new set on the spot. Cheers
  2. If you can do it, Custom built is the way to go, man. Or look for a shop that will build one for you, and I don't mean Best Buy. ------------------ Computer ASUS CUSL2-C Black Pearl MoBo 1Ghz P-!!! 3. Anybody? Or is it going to be a suprize. I'd like to know before the mounts get here so I can get the tool I'll need so I can start moddin and get the speakers set up. Thanks
  4. To tell you the truth, I did that as a precautionary measure as I've pushed my speakers to "See What They Can Do" and after 3 hours, The amp was barely warm. I hope this continue this way as my Klipsch 4.1s is fairly new Sorry for the spelling as one has consumed too much Barly Juice.
  5. I just ordered the WB-1s for my rear speakers. How much room is there between the speaker connection and the vertical part of the mount? Is there enough room for a straight in plug as I'm going to replace my speaker wire.
  6. I agree, you talk to any audiofile or a tech in sound management, the larger the wire, the less your amplifer will have to work, witch equals less heat. Sounds like to me you have an OPEN in your speaker wire if you have to shape it like an "S" to get sound. This message has been edited by clandeggen on 09-18-2001 at 07:32 PM
  7. Hey Guys, this is what I do. I have one of those Belkins Flat Pack Surge Protectors that the Monitor sits on top of. I plug the speaker power cord in Aux 1 and turn off or on as needed. I only have my speakers on when I'm listining to Music or Games, any other time, I turn it off with the Aux button. Hope this helps. Cheers
  8. Just got done reading SANE1's link, the card is for unpowered speakers. That says it all. Sane1, you can do it if you want to remove the amp out of the subwoofer. But I have the feeling your not going to get the same quality of sound with a amplified sound card as oppossed to a seperate powered Klipsch setup.
  9. Its not so much as applying that power, its depends on what is required by the MoBo, CPU, Ram, Drives, Cards, Fans, they all require power. The PSU will not supply more than is not needed. And as I understand it, the newer AMD requires alot of power. So if you have the clams, won't hurt if you get one of these. Makes it sort of future proof.
  10. Sure, why not! But Sane1 will do some damaged if he applies an amplified signal to the Input of his Preamp Klipsch 4.1 or any preamp for that matter. This message has been edited by clandeggen on 09-18-2001 at 06:14 PM

  14. I bought the ARs 201s back in 1986, they were rated at 100watts. Could be they are just a tad beat but thay are better than anything you can get at Wally World or Radio Crap uh Shack
  15. Applying an amplified signal into your preamp is bad news. Yoyur going to get clipping, distortion, problely FUBAR your preamp too.
  16. Gentlemen, this is what happened to me many moons ago, I had just bought a Sansui Amp and was hooking up my speakers(That was about the first time I ran across spring terminals) and did not seat the wire all the way in, some how the bare wires had crossed and hosed my output transistors on power up, the protection circuit did not kick in. This was way back in 78.I lived and learned.
  17. It took me along time to make the deceision to get the Klipsch, I almost did not get them as from what I read from these forums, there was a lot of problems. What changed my mind was I think it was what Juston_TX_16 said something about out of a 100,000+ units sold, there is just a few are FUBARed. That goes about with anythong sold in that many numbers, Take cars for example or even Aircraft as I seen reliable ones and lemmons. I was going to get the 2.1s but best buy was sold out and I said, what the heck, got the 4.1s. Oh my God! these things are as good as my sound rigg with Accoustic Research (ARs) Speakers! I was very carefull in hooking up these units, followed the manual to the letter and made sure the wires are not crossed at the sub woofer (If you cross them, you'll blow the amp for sure, sort of makes you wonder). I'm a very happy camper, just might retire my sound rigg! IMHO I think the Kilpsch and the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound card were made for each other. The last mod on my puter is speaker wire replacement. Cheers
