  1. It really sounds great having the RF-7's for fronts and surrounds especially with DVD-A.I got my 2 front speakers to match both sonically and visually. They're numbered 089 and 90.I got the surrounds very close also # 092 and 400.I'm semi retired in my 50's . Spent 35 years working a middle class job all the time .I thought I would spend what money I saved up on my first love.Audio.I'm also a big movie buff.I've been using an Onkyo 989 and am getting a power amp this week.I'm not out to impress anyone.Been living by myself most of my life.Still do.You should check out the lists of DVD-A discs available on the net and see if there are any that are your favorites.I picked out a few,Doobie Brothers ,Metallica and Clapton.Just make sure the disc says DVD-Audio.With this set up sometimes these guys sound like they are right in my living room.I like that because I have both played and attended many live gigs over the years.Good luck and have fun.
  2. It's the Outlaw ICBM.It sounds great for DVD-Audio and 5.1 analog sound tracks .Here's some info: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_4/outlaw-audio-icbm-bass-management-11-2001.html And here are some discs: http://www.dvdangle.com/dvd_audio/titles.html Have fun.
  3. Hey Monty, those speakers should match up well.I finally got my RF-7's all matched.Their cherry. Congratulations on finishing your upgrade of your HT. Oh, by the way, have you checked out the Outlaw ICBM?I've got one.It would probably sound great with your SD-4700.HE he he he.
  4. BobG ,thanks for explaining how Mondial uses one large power supply and distributes it in their multi-channel amps.I guess you defined the Smart Power Tech.Is Mondial shipping direct to cutomers? I'm having a problem locating a nearby dealer that is handlnig the new line. Also I would like to ask Boa if he meant that the B&K also shares the power from one unit for multiple channels when he said the B&K operates the same as the Aragon? It MIGHT be more convenient for me to pick up a B&K locally..Thanks.
  5. I have to agree with all of you about the deals that can be found on Audiogon but referring to what Chuckears said, as far as dealing with people I don't know, my track record has not been good dealing with strangers.Besides I'm one of those"If I did'nt have bad luck I would have no luck at all" people. Just this year I returned a brand new guitar amp and a receiver that were both fried fresh brand new out of the box. These were not B stock items. My dealers know me well enough that when I walk back into their shop with something I just purchased they know the problem is REAL.I have the warranty and a new unit. Getting back to the subject ,the ATI amps look good.I see they have the 3007 7x300w amp.and the 2007 7x200w. Boa I'm glad to hear your input about the B&K 7270.I think you answered a question I had about the heat it gives off.I'm waiting for a price on it from one of my dealers. And EARS, I don't know about that Canadian stuff? HA HA ...........STOP! Just joking.MY family is from Newfoundland.Lardi Thundrin'jeezis ! Don't want anyone to get mad at me.Actually Ears I'm pretty interested in the large Aragon. Thanks guys.Have fun.BBB P.S.I wonder why the Aragon 2007 weights only 49 pounds compared to these other big boys you mentioned. 6. Thanks for your suggestions guys. You are right when you say (and I am aware of)the Klipsch are very efficient.I suppose what I am looking for , if I can put it in one sentence is this.An amp with high QUALITY power that has some punch and sounds good with the RF's. I'm starting to help my Dad build a HT using some of my gear and slowly replace my stuff piece by piece. So it's one of those "If I give him this then what do I get" situations. BUT I'm keeping the Klipsch This message has been edited by BBB on 02-02-2002 at 10:53 AM
  7. Bob ,what is the availability of the 3002 and the 3005 before I bother asking my dealer about them ? This message has been edited by BBB on 02-01-2002 at 12:50 PM
  8. Hi ,I am looking for your opinions for a 5 or 7 x 200(or higher)watt amp that would sound good with this set up 2xRF-7's Frontals 2xRF-5's Surrounds 2xRS-7's Surround Rears 1xRC-7 Center onkyo 989 receiver Been using 50/50% HT/music(DVD-A sounds great) Looking at B&K 7270,Sunfire Cinema Grand II,ATI AT3007 or AT2007,Parasound HCA-2205,Sherbourn 5/1500 .I guess most of these are cruising around the $3,000 area. What's the story with the Aragon 2007. The reason I'm asking you experts is because you don't just pick up 4 or 5 of these babies ,throw them in the back of a truck and tell the dealer I'll see you in a week.I think the Krells are out of my price range. I suppose the most important thing I have to remember is how these will sound with the Klipsch and narrow the choices down with your help and add your opinions about other amps I could use with this set up.I would prefer an all in one unit since I have stuff all over the place as it is.But if mono is the best way to then what? Thanks BBB
  9. Hello fellow Klipschters.I just picked up a pair of RF-5's and maybe this old guy's main system is almost complete(for now ..he he ).Of course I wanted to check in with the people on The Forum,Klipsch and SVS who helped me out so much. This is what I have going on right now as I unpack the RF-5's.Stop me now if I'm wrong or with any advice with what I have. Room approx. 3,000 cuf. I've had most of this gear a few months .Right now I have the fronts set to large and all surrounds to small(that may change). And a question do you think I may need a seperate 5 or even 7 channel amp ? Here it is: 2xRF-7's Frontals 2xRF-5's Surrounds 2xRS-7's Surround Rears 1xRC-7 Center 2x SVS CS-Ultra Subs w/Samson 1000 1x TX-DS989 (using all 7 channels) I had used all of the 989 before with other speakers for a complete 7.1 setup but not with the RF-5's. Well it's time for this old fool to get wired and calibrate .'I'll be back" after I pump some Arnold iron through the system .Thank you my friends.BBB This message has been edited by BBB on 01-18-2002 at 12:16 PM

  11. I think I'll pickup the Queen DVD this weekend. This last weekend I bought the AC/DC Stiff Upper Lip Live DVD.It is also in DTS and DD 5.1. It will give your sub a workout. It's very good. Not great but it will get you moving.Speaking of workouts, I don't know where Angus Young gets the energy after so many years of pounding the stage.Amazing. 12. Would you consider a person who gives advice to people who own his competitors products "unprofessional" ? Is a person acting "unprofessional" when he responds contantly to peoples questions that don't even buy his products? Is answering a persons E-mail at 3 A.M after he received it a 2 A.M. "unprofessional" ? Is delivering exactly what he promised when he promised "unprofessional" ? I purchased SVS Ultas AND Klipsch Flagship Reference Series in the last few months. If I had to pick the one person who was the most influencial on my decision on BOTH products it would have to be TOM VODHANEL .Thanks for all your help Tom .I knew a fellow Klipsch owner would offer the best advice for what I wanted. The combination of all these speakers is utterly seamless. It's a complete system all around.I'm proud of the system and so should you.If there is a forum out there that doesn't want you than they don't deserve you.All my Best . BBB
  13. Hey Oogins,I would still go with the gangs original advice and leave the 3000 in the store.Don't get me wrong,I wanted one of these receivers a while go and whoever has one owns good gear.On the other hand my Klipsch dealer carries the entire Yamaha line and I always try to buy my gear from him but I wanted something with PLII and DTS-ES.He also had a deal on the 3000 but I turned it down.If you are going to keep upgrading I can assure you that you will want them eventually. It's also not fair for me to comment on the denon 2802 vs the yamaha RXV-1200 since I don't own them.I am just talking about features you may want that I considered before my investmet.Best of luck BBB.
  14. Thanks for the DVD info Magnum. I had a feeling you'd be the last guy to let me down.LOL
  15. Hey Magnum those coffin subs are..........well........lets say different. That reminds me I've been trying to get Bram Stokers Dracula Superbit but I have only been able to find it on line. That would be a good theme disc to play when you show people into your HT room.Have fun everyone.
  16. It appears that Brian Weatherhead's review in Secrets has added another jawdropper to the SVS arsenal. It looks like Tom and Ron's Viper has struck again.Ugh.... Is it me or can I hear crickets chirping in this forum. Just having some fun fellow Klipschters.Good luck Tom and Ron. Adios
  17. Hey Kain are you still awake ? Geeeeeeeeeeez.Ha Ha . Just kidding , calm down. I'll tell you what I have and what I like.I have the RF-7,RC-7 and RS-7 set up like yours will be. Also I have the SVS-Ultras with the samson 1000.Same deal as you only I use an Onkyo TX-DS989.Anyway I'll give this DVD player thing a shot. You need to remember that I have Mitsubishi 55807 wide screen tv. The Toshiba SD-9200 is a great machine.I don't see a chroma bug problem with it but they say it is there but not as bad as most machines.I don't have the Toy Story disc everyone seems to be using to find "THE BUG" but the other disc many people like to use as a reference is The Fifth Element. There is a part in it that you are supposed to see red streaking around the kill button below the generals hand in the lab that puts LeeLoo together and blue streaking around the Zorg building sign .I've gone through this frame by frame with the superbit edition of this flick and I see only a crystal clear picture with the SD-9200.I've only played a couple of music discs but they sound great. Now to get more complicated I do not have a 9000ES. What I do have is a Sony NS-700P which is supposed to be similar if not better as far as Video is concerned compared to the 9000ES.They are using a new chip or something.IT also passes the Fifth element test as far as I can see.http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_2/dvd-benchmark-special-report-chroma-bug-4-2001.html.Maybe try this site.Anyway the Sony has a softer picture and both units Dolby and DTS sound great.I'd purchase another Toshiba SD-9200. I used to have a SD-3108.A good no problem player that I really liked .Who knows? It's difficult for me to get my own system to where I want it let alone give advice. Good luck BBB
  18. Hello ,as you can see I don't post often but I would like to express an opinion to a group of people who obviously care alot about the quality of sound when listening to music or home theater.Fact:I'm over 50 years old, have played music both professionally and as a hobby for nearly 40 years.I'm not going to list my gear that I now have or had over the last half century except for 2 items.I consider them at the top of my list of the 10 best additions I have made to my home audio system in the last 5 years. They are the Klipsch Reference Series (RF-7's RS-7's,RC-7)AND the SVS Dual CS-Ultra subwoofer combo. As far as MY ears are concerned this is a marriage made in audio heaven.Yeah ,yeah yeah it's the old geezer giving us mouth music.Well I've been around the block a few times my friends and with the equipment you purchase also comes the quality of the people we need to back up our investments.I trust Klipsch and SVS for being the best in the quality and service they have provided me.I just thought I would mention the good experiences I have had with these 2 companies in case some of you have been trying to decide on a new addition for your systems or buying your first set up.Take my word for it, I looked around these boards and others for suggestions and it was a big help reading what all of you have had to say. Now I've had my say. Marvelous.Take care everyone and have a very Happy Thanksgiving.Billy
