402 on Jubs is killer. Its like nothing i've ever heard before. the first time i heard the 402, and 510 i found the sound very revealing. Not sure if that makes sense or not, but i heard things i've never heard before(not the voices in my head). I too have not quite dialed in my passive, but i'm almost there. There just so crisp.
Good stuff, you'll be very happy with that purchase....

Awesome stuff, its coming along nicely.

I'm sure there are cheaper recone kits as well. If it was me, i'd recone them,, no one would see the patch job, but i'd know it was there.
IF your going to keep them for a long time, its better to do it right, you'll be happier in the end.

no kidding, Bose does 15Hz in that little box they got....lol.
-

If you look at a La Scala I think it starts to roll off at about 100 - 125 Hz.
There is absolutely nothing below 45 Hz or so on a La Scala.
That is why you see mostly box subs not horns
And Box subs, that dig real deep tend to have larger volumes(cubic feet). This changes if you have a passive involved. Even the better horn loaded subs are Large as well. Take a Tuba for example. the Best performance you will get from a Tuba sub is by making it wider with a larger driver. Check out the KPT884, single 18 inch driver, with huge volume(as in cubic ft). KPT684, has two 18 inch drivers with less volume(cubic ft) and wont dig as deep as the 884.
+1 for Subs

Put the oak cabinets into storage untill you get your divorce
what happened to "For better or for Worse?"

I would assume you have complete control over her shoe and clothes choices or is there no democracy at all

I dropped Jubs in my livingroom. received the delivery, and set them up while my wife was at work.. Wife sees them and says, "you've got to be kidding me".
Few days in the dog house and your good to go.
Sometimes its better to beg or forgiveness. Drop the Fotre's in the living room and tell her if they dont match, we may have to redecorate around them.

I wouldnt paint them. i'd start the negotiations...

What about a dab or two of Crazy glue? not alot, just enough so the thread doesnt pull back?

Im not trying to stear you away from buying new gear. I like new gear, and the only way klipsch will survive is if we buy new gear. with that being said, you can get used Heritage speakers for the same price as the HIII new.
-
Well, i followed most of it during the build. i skimmed it again and finally printed my plans.
-
-
The HIII is a nice unit but ugh on the MDF. I'd buy the HII, and save some cash[Y].
Either way, HII or HIII, You'll be very happy with the sound. There very close in sound. there is also an HIII upgrade kit for the HII.

Great Stories, thanks.

They match up well enough I am unable to tell where the sub takes over unless I turn them off.
That sounds ideal. they way it should be, nice...
you know, every time i turn around, there's someone that has a Tuba sub...i going to build mine soon. i bought the plans about a year ago...and printed them today. right on top of the game here...[Y]

Hey oldenough, I'm sure you are a veteran of 2.1 channel music, in your opinion, would a sealed sub enclosure be the right direction to go for listening to music only?
Sealed or not, its all in the design. Some are designed for ported vs none ported Vs passives Radiators. I've only ever had two subs, KSW115, and now a KPT684. I cant really compare the two, they are completely different. But, with a larger Sub, it moves more air, and i think you will be happier with that Vs a smaller sub 10 inch or 12 inch. I prefer the larger Radiator in my sub. Older Music didnt really have much LF in the track, where as newer music has lots of LF in the tracks.
I'm currently running a 2.1 with my Jubilee's and 684. Now we need to talk Direct Radiator, Vs horn loaded sub. [Y]
+1 for Subs even for 2 channel.

I just went back to check you budget, Cornwall's for sure. no Question...i might even save my cash and splurge on La Scala's...
Spend all your cash on the speakers, and get a Sub later...

I have to be honest here, i havent really given much chance to anything other than Hertiage and now the Cinema line. Its all about the horns for me. With "bookshelf" speakers, they are just that, not really meant for a big sound stage. It depends on what you want, and by the sounds of it Bookshelf isnt going to cut it for you. I bought my first set of Cornwalls in 1988, and just sold them 2 years ago. With Hertiage, you cant go wrong.
I've heard alot of good things about the Reference line, but can not attest to anything. i have not heard them.
If you could afford and have space get the Cornwall II's hands down, if not then get the Chorus II's or Forte II's, i'd go with all of these over the Heresy's for sure because of the Lower end. With all that said, if i were you, i'd stick with the Hertiage line for sure. they just dont make them like they used to...
my 2 cents...
Not sure where you heard this, but i cant say thats true... Some of Klipsch's best speakers are ported, and also not ported. Its all in the design.I understand sealed enclosure speakers is preferred over ported speaker when it comes to listening to music only, any truth to this?
Probably not.Juniper8, you mentioned: "klipsch heritage surrounds dont rot like other speakers, it is a different material.." Is this true with all Klipsch speaker models/series?

Grow it slowly, buy what you can afford....buy the best you can afford at that time.

I was just going to jump in on the F20, Tuba or tapped horn. Depends if your a DIY'er or not. I cant wait to start my build. I just have a little more drywall and mud to get done before the snow fly's, and a little outdoor painting.
Yeah, thats right...soon it will be snowing here...
