  1. I have redesigned the plinth to be unique and possibly a one of a kind

Since my last post I had the idea germinate in my minds eye and have visited my local boutique timber merchant looking for a slab offcut

Well yesterday I found a piece of laminated Tasmanian Oak just the right size, and I am just preparing the measurements and templates for outer cuts and the cutout for the turntable

Also decided that the cuts will be done at a local CNC shop for accuracy

    The idea is to

1 Have a table top surface for the turntable to sit flush with

2 A plinth frame will be attached on the underside - Same as a 19mm standard plinth but thicker @32mm

3 All the standard bracing as per original will be made to suit

4 The TT cutout of the table top will be reused as a base plate

5 Add a different refurbished cover from the past as it suits to perfection. This cover has a darker tint that blends better overall  with the TT and is a little larger

I have photos of the new design idea

This is the slab with the frame / plinth timber I will be using behind

The frame to the right is an old plinth frame that was damaged but used as an illustration

    The templates are made

Outer for the overall top & Inner for the turntable cutout

The rear view to what it will look like all around with the frame in place

The cover with the darker tint I intend using

And a photo with flash takes the tint away 😃

I dont have a timeline as Christmas is approaching and I have some side projects to complete first

    HOWEVER

I can also use the same technique as above and turn the plank longways

Overlap the current 19mm think plinth / frame by up to 10mm to give an overall 3D effect, and better timber end grain matching

Then use the original Thorens cover ( as the cover above overlaps in this rotation)

What say you on the best orientation option ?

  5. Part of a recent record bulk buy is this album

The album is more raw and organic in the track presentation than the studio recorded versions

And I think it is possibly a bootleg with very very good SQ

    Artist - Amy Winehouse

    Title - At The BBC

    1970s Rush

    none better.

They did heavy rock with more evident musical content to it. How about the percussion in "Trees"!

@Full Range do you know how those remasters differ from my original vinyl versions?

The whole album is great and left you wanting more

Only have the 4 Rush remaster CDs that I purchased ( pre loved ) so I can’t compare to other releases

Still to spin 2112 & Moving Pictures

Mike @dirtmudd wanted me to get this title

Track 4 - La Villa Strangiato, has similarities to a track from Brian Eno or 801 Live ( just can’t put my finger on the track name now )

A CD from the Rush Remasters

Was looking at an estimate of how many in a stack

For every 12” inches you will find appropriately 60 records

Mostly single LP in single covers with a smattering of gatefold covers and double LP gatefold

BTW, drank some Yellowtail Merlot recently from eastern Aussie province. It was alrighty...lol...:emotion-21:

    We make fine wines

    Even the French are jealous

Some local wines costing less than $10 have won gold medals on blind tasting tests

    Re record stack

Sort out the gems from the chaff

Sell the gems at a premium and the rest to a record merchant

    Alternatively

You can find a local record fair and pay for a stall to sell the records

    Or A weekend market

And if keen on strangers - you can go a yard sale

I say, anyone up for a guesstimate on a 4 foot stack of lp's? Got them out and cleaned outside for a mundane affair which should pay off as in now...Saw Joe wanting a likewise about CD's so...;) Not a serious thing but...

You need to assess the condition of

    1)  Vinyl disc

    2) Cover

Then how rare and or popular the records are

Best to catalogue on Discogs and they will give you an overall value on 3 quality / condition levels

And you can also see what is selling and if someone is wanting a title

    If it’s bulk

Then most folks will pay $2.00 each to $10each depending what’s there

Classical bulk will fetch 0.50 cents if lucky
