  1. I run my 12g zip cord supported by concrete floor stands from my amps to the Super MWM's or whatever is playing on any given day. I try not to allow them to loop over each other to much and have resisted the almost irresistable urge to cook them with an Audiogon Cable Cooker. I also find embedded floor grunge on the zip cord insulation reduces the propensity for magnetic field generation  and have proven to my satisfaction dirty zip cord produces better audio. I prefer to use my TIG torch for soldering and believe if a little solder is good more is better.

On a serious note here I find cables to be fraught with all kinds of snake oil. Simple zip cord works fine for the engineer types I know and does so without severe money loss. I buy 12g Monoprice zip cord made for speakers by the 100' roll when on sale and eliminate any potential for to small a conductor over runs of up to 30'.

I saw that, too.  I still don't "get" it.

Whatever "crossover" anomalies (reversal lag in electron flow?) might show up in a capacitor being chosen as appropriate for the task at hand would seem at first blush to actually still be present, perhaps even to a greater extent, in the presence of bias.  Sans bias there (as envisioned) would be merely a window of dead time before current begins to flow in the opposite direction.  That being with a quiescent period of electron flow through the dielectric.  If there were supposedly a period of hysteresis where the electrons continued flowing in one direction, on momentum, after the push ceased at / during the direction change, causing (even further?) delay getting started the other direction, then why wouldn't that condition be worsened against a bias (and sped up with it the other way)?  If the anomaly were problematic without a bias present, wouldn't it at least have symmetry?  And with a bias, an asymmetry?  Is an asymmetrical "crossover distortion" less objectionable than one symmetrical?

I suggest a cable, capacitor and finally crossover cooker for you Glenn. Your rational approach to this whole thing is tawdry.

    Not trolling.

Why would you want an amp that changed the sound of the exceptional recording you worked so hard to find?  I had a pair of ASL Wave8s for a while.  Competent, but not magical even though they were said to be.  Plenty of power, so they never were pushed.  I sold them and kept my Parasound SS amps.

I'm with you John and solid state all the way. If I want to flavor my music I prefer to use the Xilica which also allows for other nice things to happen besides the tone of my music. I figure none of the commercial venues out there use tube amps and if I want a true to life replay of a concert why not use the type of amps they use. And yes I am not trolling either just discussing how I arrived at my choice.

Until I get a chance to set a CW4 down next to my Belle, then I wont know which I will prefer.

    1. That still wont make one better than the other

    2. For anyone to say so without having DONE SO, is inaccurate.

The CW is still designed to be DIFFERENT. With improvements upon ITSELF (it's own desighn)

It not designed to be better than the other Herratige models. They are all meant to provide a different use and flavor depending on the APPLICATION.

Just like they were back in the 50's.

    Whatever.

I guess my main point, to over simplify is accuracy of statements.

A comparison of CW, Heresy, Lascala and Forte to me means little. One thing that's never changed about these designs (much) is the freq coverage. Meaning, since the Lascala wasnt actually designed for 2 channel audio back then, thennit still isnt. It was a center, and used as public address. Of course the CW may be PREFERRED , as it goes lower, and is more IDEAL for 2 channel audio, but that does not make it BETTER. They are still simply doing what they are designed to do. Using a speaker outside that parameter doesnt make it bad. Augment the Lascala and provide the lower freq that are missing or why compare? Same for the Heresy. Why even compare a Heresy to any if them?

True, I've got altered Belle. Do I think they are "better" than anything else? They arent even better than my little James bookshelf.  They dont have to be, they arent in the same class to compare.  Because I personally PREFER one model over another doesnt make it BETTER, especially when I compare inappropriately.

A MFSL lp is not BETTER than a 128kb mp3 file...

At playing music while riding my bike. Its application, and preference.

All my long winded blahs blahs aside, I would love to be in a position to hear all these and decide if I prefer the sound of a new model over my own altered orig, but I dont have the luxury. I've got a sneaking suspicion that since Klipsch themselves is here in this forum, and so is the builders of our boutique stuff, that what in the new CW is a combination of BOTH works.  Of one thing I can be certain without hearing the CW4

I would likely prefer them hands down over my current model 1. Because, I know for a fact I prefer a 2' throat and tractrix design over the orig.  Still , it wont make it "better" than The CW 2 as it does exactly what it was designed to do. Sit between 2 widely spaced Khorns.

       Accurate statement.

The 4 is redesigned with 2 channel audio in mind, independent from the Khorn.

Well you and I will have to agree to disagree. I think that as a center channel there must be fidelity just like the right and left and ALL are capable and designed to suit left, right or center. The idea that the Cornwall's sole real purpose is to sit between two KHorns and is not just as useful in stereo is kind of silly in my opinion.

It was my understanding that several years ago, PayPal became the property of eBay. If this is still the case, it is likely to be reflected

in policy PayPal has in place, of course.

EBay has parted ways with Paypal. EBay is starting other payment methods soon from Apple and Google and I have to think Paypal is getting to arrogant to deal with in some ways so EBay is allowing others in the door. I know that Paypal has recently stated that if you give a refund they will not refund their charges to the seller so the seller pays for nothing. In this case better to lose the Paypal fees charged than the whole thing since Paypal will side with the buyer over the seller and then you lose it all. Oh and still pay the fee for that too.

Hey guys I have a situation and am looking for some advice. I posted my speakers here and ebay and craigslist. I got a commitment from a guy with no reputation on Ebay who wants me to send the speakers to a different state than he lives in and he is paying me full price, + shipping and giving me an additional $300 for a gift card to include in the speaker box. I just received payment through paypal, what are my risks here?

    Any ideas?

You block people who make offers like this before they can bid. In your case I would claim the item got broken and refund his money.

First of all, all things are NOT equal.  The Cornwall 1 and 2 don't even come close to the Cornwall 4, no matter how you update/upgrade/change components.   (Cornwall 3 is another story, and I am not a fan of that speaker).  And then, show me where a Cornwall 1 or 2 is selling for 50% or more of the price of a new CW4?  Asking prices are not the same as selling prices. (especially on the bay....)

    100% correct.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but   That, is Exactly how the CW4 was conceived.  They've taken the premise of a CW1 and built on it, incrementally over time, up through the models.

I saw tractrix mid upgrades here years ago with the Chorus ll being installed in the 1 and 2. Klipsch LISTENED to the folks modifying the CW1 and 2, and built on it with a new design. The 4 IS AN UPGRADED CW1 is it not?

OK technically you are right but what's the point you are trying to make? The CW4 is a serious improvement of far greater import than anything else I have heard from Klipsch. Yes I would prefer them to stock Belles and can't reflect on altered Belles since I have never heard any. No I don't like the price tag but then I am a cheap skate who also loves to work on old boxes or build new which is not an option for most buyers.

Quite frankly I was stunned at how musical these were and until now have always preferred the Chorus but no more. We heard the new Heresy, La Scala, Forte and Cornwall a few weeks ago in Hope. The La Scala was more efficient but the CW4 beat them all for accurate pleasing musical reproduction. If I was buying new I would save longer and get those tasty Jubes though.

Really? Wow I wish I had known that.

Thanks however to the other responders who took the time to inform me that I should look into the AA network. That was the great community-sourced response I was looking for. Hopefully my pictures, descriptions and those helpful responses will add to the fantastic canon that is the Klipsch Forums, and help someone else out in the future.

Well you did say you could not find any info on schematics and I demonstrated how. Sorry it excited you so much and welcome to the forum.

There was black set here in Nashville a while back on CL that didn't sell.  He had the price lowered to $350.  The corners did have some minor damage though.

They had pretty significant damage. Much more than just minor damage because you cant fix MDF that has been well watered. I had a set a couple of years ago I could not get rid of. Finally scrapped them and the parts brought over $700. I figure I got lucky and never again. I didn't think much of them and can't figure out why they have such a good reputation.

Not one of my neighbors. Too much volume shaking things and I get a knock on the door as I usually can't hear the phone when blasting Rock and Roll or a loud movie (especially in THX) is playing. The initial scene in the movie Predator with the Chopper landing was not very well received next door! 🙉

Ha Ha I have some Chinook audio that is pretty tasty with the Super MWM's.

    Why? I mean just why?

    I guess I just don't get IT.

The wonderful smell of burning rubber and that lovely ground pounding noise and the sheer unbridled demonstration of testosterone would be enough for me. The bugging out of eyeballs would be another plus. Asuming one had the money to do this as that guy has a lot tied up in that monster. Better than Wilson speakers or fru fru B&W's for true to life live sound kind of like what Klipsch is known for.

My neighbors on the other hand don't live so close but they know I am around when the Tanerite goes off.

That horn would look very nice - did you work out its hornresp model yet ?

Re: BFM - although gentle curved folds, one would have to still deal with directivity issues (matching the midhorn)  It still might be a really good folded horn down to 70Hz or so.,  At least BFM builds light.

Beck's Califronia is like a free standing box version of the K-horn

Here's one of my FH1 outdoors

I need to get rid of my FH-1 pair so to have space for my K15's

No I have not since I never expect to build it. I did however post the drawings here for anyone who wants to. I require something much more substantial than a La Scala and ended up with the Super MWM
