Well, SOMEONE had to go and make a mod angry and delete the thread where I showed back up again after a couple years. I bet it was actually you.

Nice to see you could join the party.
So you think Adolph played a little taps on that horn? 😁😁😁

I'm not restricted by the street lights like some people here.
Probably not him, but some people who were around him.

Do you know why we can't have nice things?
This. This is why. That and you just lose them all.

Kinda surprised I haven't had much interest in it. I'd sell it for about any offer at the moment.
Iowa seems to be in a slump for buyers right now. Not a lot of stuff moving for many around these parts.

Amps are now off eBay. They are either going to be local or sold through here. Pony express friendly too, just need to line up a transport if necessary. Surely someone wants these monsters (or one) for themselves.

When I had Bob work on my RF-3 XO's, I had seen that thread too. The guy was not listening to anything that any of the members were saying, and instead just stopped reading when there was the slightest bit of criticism - no matter how constructive (or lack thereof). I opted to have Bob build mine. He built them on wood, which looked very nice, and seemed to work very well. I then installed the XO's in the front of the tower underneath the lower woofer. I trimmed the foam just a little bit; enough to make room for the components on the board. There were no issues. As long as you're leaving the foam around the port you shouldn't have a problem.
I would imagine that the 5's should respond well to an XO update. My 3's did, to my ears anyway. I also swapped out the tweeter diaphragms, but I'm not sure you'd want/need to do this in the 5's.

Okay folks, someone buy these from Michael. Starving student.
Oh that's right, he got the job of a lifetime.
Haha. Not a starving student anymore. Just trying to pay debt off and save on the interest. That responsibility thing that others in my generation seem to be bad at.

Bump for good measure. I'm taking offers guys, but I gotta at least be a little careful. The money from this is going towards student loans - as is most stuff I am / will be selling.

Hi History Kid!
Are these still for sale?
Thanks, erik
I just saw this. They sold a while ago, sorry.

He's apparently been flooded by offers. I might be picking the RC-7 up from him tomorrow.

Jim, please.Sorry, but not true. Perhaps not "guaranteed value", but certainly much higher adjusted value, if you know anything about the antique furniture, rare books, or rare wine markets......just to name a few. In those, rarity and provenance are absolutely everything.
In some cases that's true, but a far cry from "everything." People like to think that just because they have a story to something that it's more important and valuable than it really is. I see it all the time. Again, in some cases that's true, but it's hardly "everything." It's barely even "some."

Tell me that whe you have something rare with prevance that could be worth some money and you go to sell it. I'd say it usually does warrant a higher value but I do agree $30k is deep sea fishing territory.
Um.
I have.
Many times.
Provenance and rarity does not equate value. This is literally Museum Studies 101 stuff.

Really wish people would learn that rarity and provenance does not equate guaranteed value when selling literally anything...

600M's aren't an upgrade, if that's what you're thinking. The only bookshelf I'd take over the RB-5's is the RB-75. $99 was a steal for what you've got. Put a good amp with them and you've got a floorstanding speaker in the form factor of a bookshelf.
-
Speakers will work with anything given that there's an amplifier. Will it sound good? Maybe. Will it match? Absolutely not. The 5000F's will run right over the rest of your speakers, especially the R-52C. Start your upgrade with your center channel, then look ay other objects.

Yes, someone got a smokin’ deal, I just didn’t have the setup for them. All my equipment is old (my Harmon kardon receiver doesn’t have hdmi). I’m gonna miss them
I hope that wasn't the only reason for parting with them.

Yes, ill keep that in mind, but to be honest, it would be nice to just have a receiver with hdmi capabilities. I've only been using my system for music because thats how I came in to this hifi-world, but ive recently started to branch out to the home theater scene... Guess I have some re-evaluation to do
If you're on a tight budget, look at used or refurbished. Accessories4Less is a good option. Just make sure you don't hold up on power ratings. Most of them are grossly inflated. Outline your features you want and then if you're having trouble, just holler at us.

I'll admit, my receiver is as old as I am (21), so maybe time to up my receiver game
AVR's utilized multi-channel audio as far back as the 1990s. I know my RX-V530 from 2002 (my first non HTIB AVR, I was 12) did have 5 channel stereo. AVR's prior to that had a Dolby LCR mode that was marketed as 3-Stereo, but most Yamaha's back to the 390 in 1999 also had multi-channel stereo. You won't need to break bank to do what you're wanting to do at all and any AVR that you get that's worth a damn has the feature built in.
Be advised though, you will have a power drop in using multi-channel stereo, it won't pack the punch that stereo mode itself has.

They're on the breadbox board - the originals were to be mated to the terminal cup. I don't see why you couldn't screw them into the cabinet, they have about 4 inches of wire that runs from the XO to the terminal, so you should be able to place them near the terminal.

That was fast.

The jumpers would be where the terminal is. It'd be tied red-to-red, black-to-black. Are you referring to a setting on your amp? Klipsch don't have adjustable impedance.Hmm I don't see here the jumpers would be, nothing marked HF or LF on the back.I did notice Ohm setting was adjustable on back, its set to 8 which is what the RB-5's should be at.

You're like Switzerland, alright. Mountainous, rocky, probably full of holes, smelly cheese, and a lot of creepy sheep herders.
