My gf has a vibe (same difference), I love pulling the e-brake around turns in that thing! btw, are there any good turbo kits for it? ---------------- there is a supercharger for the 1zz engine and some turbos for the 2zz. And it is a blast to drive for a daily driver.

  4. Congrats on the new 7s
  5. Congrats on the new sub. Let us know how you like it.
  6. Do you have cable tv? If so you might need one of these. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=180-075
  7. Congrats on the new Titanic. I think you'll enjoy it greatly. Let us know how well it does with the RF7s. I was wondering if 2 would be needed to keep up with them or will 1 do the job.
  8. It's enough with my R3 series. I'm just learning in case I need a 2nd 15 when I make the upgrade to the 7 series later this summer. The amp is 1000 watts at 4 ohms.
  9. Check out the aci subs also http://www.audioc.com/speakers1/speakers.htm#acisubwoofers

They would be stacked vertically and crossed over at 60 or 40.
  11. Sorry, yes I meant 2 seperate identical subs stacked one on top of the other, same bandwidth opposed to a single encolsure with multiple drivers. 2 15" Titanic kits to be exact. You guys started talking the pros and cons of this in my other thread. I started this one to talk specifically about dual subs instead of comparing brands. My Titanic does great with my RF3-II&RC3-II but when I make the move to the 7 series I may need to add a second one.
  12. I want to learn as much as I can before deciding whether to run 2 subs. My queston is this. What is the difference between running 2 identical subs stacked in a corner opposed to something with 2 + subs in one enclosure like one of the big SVS subs?
  13. 12" or 15" Titanic kit from parts express

  15. Sorry to hear it. I kind of know how you feel. Someone got into our garage and took all of our tools. But it's a worse feeling when someone gets into your house.

    mikeyj here you go, review with pics http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64840&sessionID={C9B8CDE2-2F22-4786-98E1-9DCA854AF3F4}
  17. Yes parts express has a 500 watt and 1000 watt amp. Jacksonbart I ordered the sub on a Sat. It shipped out on Monday and was on my sun porch when I got home from work Tuesday. So 4 days from order to assembly. If I would have ordered during the week it would have been 2 days. But I live in Louisville so ground service from parts express only takes 1 day to get to me .
  18. I've spent some time with the Titanic and have some first impressions. First here is a link to some pictures of construction which took me right at an hour to complete. http://photobucket.com/albums/v715/Bobby_T/Titanic%20kit/?multi=6&addtype= I can't really compare to mass market subs as my experience is only with a 12" Paradigm(the lower line of subs) and a friend's Atlantic Technology 12". Both are nice subs but everything I've experienced in diy beats them easily. The kit comes with the driver, amp, enclosure, sound deadening foam, floor spikes, and assembly hardware. The enclosure is assembled and finished in a flat black speckle. It's built solid with an internal brace. My first thought is the Titanic totaly owns the 12" dvc, no contest. My 12" dvc is a great sub and maybe in a different enclosure would be even better. It's curently in a 2.5 cub ft ported enclosure with the parts express 250 watt amp. On to the Titanic. I stuffed it with 2 pounds of polyfill. I know 3 pounds is more of what the 3 cub ft box calls for but I wanted to start at 2 and see how it sounded. I haven't measured with sine waves so everything is based on movies and music I own and am familiar with. With The Haunting DTS creaking pipes scene I heard and felt things I've never before experienced. That tells me the Titanic is capable of going pretty low with strong clean output. In AOTC during the THX intro it was more authoritive and again I heard bass that I haven't heard before It handled the ship explosion wonderfully. I watched some scenes from The Incredibles with the same results. The attack and decay of this sub is by far better than the dvc. On to music. I started off with Dream Theater Images and Words. The Titanic handled it superbly. This is to date the best I've ever heard this CD. The bass was spot on accurate with no hint of boominess. Next on to Trans Sibrian Orchestra. Again it was spot on. The smile keeps getting bigger and bigger. I listened to Dark Side of the Moon SACD and Hotel California DVDA and everything sounds great. This is easily the best sub I've owned to date. It bests the store bought subs I've heard and the subs I've built. It's fast, clean, powerful, and plays pretty low. And all of the other usual descriptive words. I'm amazed by the amount of clean output for a kit. The accuracy on movies caught me off guard. I knew what to expect out of the Titanic for music. But explosions not lingering on longer than they should in a movie is awesome. One more thing. I never realized the amount of port noise I was dealing with till it was gone. I guess i got used to it. I may never build another ported sub again ever.
  19. 2 more to try out. The Haunting DTS version scene 10 creaking pipes U571 DTS depth charge scene

Perhaps you just need to make a vented cab. instead of sealed? I'm in the process of putting together a cheap sub with a MA 121XQ 12inch with 10mm xmax in a 3.6ft. cab. I had sitting around and will see what it will do to accompany my khorns. Should produce 120db at 30hz with enough power but only 105 at 25hz and 95 at 20hz. Paid $50 shipped for the speaker. The Dayton DVC sub interested me but the parameters weren't right for my cabinet. This MA sub should be 28hz -3db. ---------------- Nothings wrong with it. I just have upgradeitis. It's in a ported enclosure. When I built it I designed for low end movie slam. Now I find myself wanting to tighten up the bass more for music. Due to a break in in my garage a few months ago all of my power tools are gone. Or I may have just built a sealed enclosure for the 12. Plus I was curious about the Titanic kit. The short time I've had with the titanic it has performed above and beyond the dvc. But I belive the Titanics are thier flagship model with the DVCs next in line. I'll have more time to listen this weekend.

    Ordered sub

It was delivered yesterday. I really love living this close to parts express. Ground is like next day air for me. It took right at an hour to assemble it. I haven't had a lot of time with it yet. From what I have heard so far it owns my 12" Dayton dvc . When I've had some time to listen I'll post a review with pictures.

    Ordered sub

Thanks. Like I said in the other post this purchase may not rule out the other subs. For $650 I can build it, try it out, and if I don't like it then sell it. And probably sell it locally for enogh to get my money back since it would then be a finished sub instead of a kit.

    RSW 15 ?

Indy, I have not totally ruled out the RSW 15. I have a good enough relationship with my Klipsch dealer that I could use one for a weekend. If I do then I can compare it side by side with the Dayton. I have all Klipsch now. RF3-II, RC3-II, RS3-II, and a pair of synergy KSB1.1 for back surround. Also I have a Dayton 12" dvc in a diy enclosure. This year I will have the money and time to uprade to the 7s. I have a 2 week vacation in August during which I'm going to do the upgrades and have a lot of time at home alone to tweak and just enjoy the new system.I'm going to try and squeeze my RF3s into surround duty. Since I like the performane of the Dayton I want to try out the Titanic kit. And for $650 shipped it's not a bad deal. Also for the price of the RSW 15 I can get 2 Titanic kits.
